DDA Chapter 22

Tammi - I loved the pictures from the game yesterday. The last one says it all, doesn't it? He has that look of utter delight on his face, even with the taped fingers! :goodvibes

Robyn - Poor Lu! And that blanket of  needs to lay itself over your family, I think.

Another one bites the dust. He was completely fine until I turned the tv off and said time for bed. Then the tears started. "I miss my mama." :sad1: I wasn't going to be the one to toughen him up so I said call her if you want to go home. He just left. He's such a sweet boy though. As soon as we sat down to dinner he thanked me for "such a nice meal." VERY polite.

Evidently Mom goes through quite the transition at back to school time. He cries and doesn't want to get on the bus, she has had to send a picture of her to school with him, and this isn't just at the beginning of the year, it's after all the long holiday breaks too.

I don't know the family at all (I think!) but I would say it seems like it very possibly is an issue with the mother, not the son. Separation anxiety often is prompted by actions of the adults. If his is that severe, I would think it needs to be addressed by a professional. But I would hate to be the one to have to tell her that!

I am sorry that Nicholas' sleepover ended badly. :( But I also htink you handled it correctly! :thumbsup2

Kristin was injured at work yesterday. She was not shot as her sister is terrified is going to happen. (I didn't need that picture put in my head last weekend, thank you very much!! ) When she opened the vault the door slid right across the top of her foot. The shoe was relatively undamaged and is wearable, which shocked us all when we saw the extent of the injury. The toenail on the big toe was bent completely back on itself and the flesh was torn from the sides of the nail bed. It was pretty gruesome but our urgent care place took her in right away and took care of her. I was off having my hair done while all this drama took place. Poor Bob had to handle his first family emergency in decades (I kid you not). They both came out of it pretty decently. She is on painkillers and a very potent antibiotic. And she won't be wearing any closed shoes for a while. The dress code at the bank states that closed-toe shoes must always be worn, but her boss is pregnant and can't get shoes on, so the precedent has been set for Kristin to return to work tomorrow in the classiest slides we can find. :rotfl:

Jen it looks like you need some new tickers.

I went to bed at 1:30 AM, but I swear I never fell asleep. It was such a restless night :confused3 We need to go cut some wood today and I was called at 10 PM last night and bribed to work tonight. I was hesitant since school starts tomorrow and the boys need to get back into a routine, but my coworker really wanted to play golf today and threw in an extra $20, apparently I can be bribed :lmao: I'll make sure I have the kids stuff ready before I go to work so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm only working 2 hours tomorrow morning, then I'll come home and take the boys to school. I haven't missed a first day yet and I'm not planning on starting now.

Bernadette congratulations on the car!

Theresa congratulations to Cassidy & her band, sorry about the job

Tammi glad Nicholas was able to play yesterday, hope his finger heals quickly. Sorry about the sleepover, doesn't sound like there was any thing you could have done that would have changed the outcome.

Becky glad the shower went well.

Vicki did you get the work accomplished that you were hoping to?

Robyn poor Lu, what an ordeal for a little one to go through! Lots of hugs for both of you :hug::hug::hug::hug:

Elin reading about your daughters injury made my stomach turn  I hope the pain meds are helping & that her toe heals soon!

You mean she doesn't get injury leave???? ;)

It sounds horrible and painful. Yay for Bob stepping up to the plate.

Debbie - here's some :wizard: for your DD too. Hopefully she'll get a lot of subbing opportunities.

Ouch! I hope she's not in too much pain today. Very impressive, Bob! I don't know if Phil could come out so decently even by the time Terra's that age. :wizard: that it heals quickly.

Good morning, DDA!

Tammi - Sorry your sleepover wasn't as big a success as you were hoping.

Becky - Glad the shower went well!

We're off to church in a little bit followed by the rest of the craziness of the day. I'm hoping we get away early enough to stop off at this killer donut place I discovered a few weeks ago. We stopped last Sunday for the first time and they are so good! Totally made my day too that our donuts had hidden Mickeys! We both got sprinkle donuts and there hiding amongst the regular sprinkles were 3 or 4 Mickey head sprinkles. :goodvibes: I must be slow in finding it because the line was out the door when we left.

Yikes. I can see not wanting to stay all night, but the school thing kind of concerns me. That is not normal. In Kindergarten, maybe. Not now. I know DS was spending the night with friends as early as 1st grade and he did fine.

I'll quote Becky since she said it all so well, Theresa, my youngest DD is going through the same thing, she got her thanks bbut no thanks letter from her last interview yesterday, she really had her hopes up for that one. She got her teaching license and wasn't able to secure a position this year, with the economy the way it is there are a lot more applicants for teaching and with no experience yet she's getting passed over for those who do. She is working at afterschool care and subbing right now so hopefully something will come through eventually.

Debbie, lots of :wizard: for your DD to find a teaching position soon!!

The shower went well. I am so glad it was not outside, as it stormed on and off all day. We have had like 3-4 inches of rain the last two days.

I am heading to bed, as I am exhausted. I think it is the earliest I have went to bed since I am not sure.

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

I am glad the shower went well! One less thing on your to-do list!

You mean she doesn't get injury leave???? ;)

It sounds horrible and painful. Yay for Bob stepping up to the plate.

Elin, that sounds BRUTAL! :scared1: My mom had a similar injury last year. SHe was wearing sandals and somehow managed to hurt her toe coming down some steps. It was during her chemo so I was really worried about it getting infected, but it healed OK.
I hope Kristin feels better soon!

We had a bank robbery yesterday. The guy was 17 years old! Talk about destroying the rest of your life. :sad2: One of the tellers was grazed by a bullet on her hand, but she is OK.

Bernadette, Joe's bed looks nice! I hope he enjoys it, and that you enjoy your new car!!

I've managed to wash all the kids new lunchbox stuff, get their lunches together (they just need to go into the lunchboxes in the morning) and pulled out outfits for tomorrow for the youngest two. I "think" they're all set to go tomorrow. Man did this summer fly by.

Morning....

I think I have everything straightened out for our November trip. It got a little tense with the Thanksgiving ADR....but we ended up switching to Coral Reef to accommodate the 6 of us. Tickets are bought...so we are good to go :)

Tammi...all of my kids have had friends like that...and one day those kids just snapped out of it....and personally, I think most of them do.

Jackie is a little happier with high school....not quite there, but at least some forward movement.

I am beginning to wonder if we are ever going to get to go to Water World...it is cloudy and cold today (high of maybe 75 with showers probable).

Abi went over last night to a sleepover so hopefully when I call shortly she won't be too disappointed and want to still play over there.

I am trying to decide how I feel about this guy who says he booked a club level villa at AKL through CRO. There are only 10 flippin' units for DVC members! And they are putting them out for cash guests? That seems fundamentally wrong. I see there are club level SUITES for cash guests, which are not the same configuration as the villas. But this guy thinks he booked a villa. It bothers me.

So on that note, I am thinking of tweaking my 2010 ressie. I TRIED to get a club level villa and they were full. I decided not to waitlist. But maybe I will call now and see what's open. Just because I have nothing better to do. :rolleyes1 And no, we don't know when we are going in 2010. Won't know for sure until early to mid-December. But for now this keeps me off the streets.

Elizabeth - they do that with all DVC units, club level or not. When I was going last December there were no studios at OKW available on points. I could, however, book one on cash. Irritates me that I paid thousands of dollars and still pay monthly maintenance fees, and can't book a unit, but if someone waves cash in front of Disney's face, they can get it. Get used to it.

Hmph. No more than 2 consecutive nights for a club level studio for the entire month of June. Fine. I will just leave my ressie alone.

Of course today is the 11 month mark if we end up going in August. But my points are all tied up in that June ressie so I can't book anything else. :headache:

I knew there were DVC units that were OWNED by CRO. I get that. Only a certain number of units are for points, others are for cash. I also get that if rooms allocated for points are not reserved by a certain date they convert to cash. But when you only have a total of TEN possible units? That's wrong. For the life of me I can't get a club level villa to come up on the CRO system, so I don't know how he managed to book it.
