It could be the speakers are going bad. Are they built into the monitor, or are they removable? Do you have another set of speakers in the house you could attach to the computer to see if they have the same problem.
Also a cell phone, wireless phone, or even wireless network can cause interference in speakers.
Good luck figuring out the issue.
They are removable but I don't have another set to test with.
It's not my cell phone - that makes a different noise when it is too lcose to the computer.
This is something other than the speakers, I think, because audio stuff isn't buffering properly - it is stuttering and cutting out. That happens on You Tube, iTunes, and with music I have ripped from CDs. No audio files will play normally.
