DDA Chapter 20

This is why I will NEVER own a GPS. I would rather spend a few bucks on a map, or stop at a visitors center and get a FREE one, or print directions from Mapquest. Perhaps if I didn't have a good sense of direction or couldn't read a map it would be good, but I'm just an old fashioned girl when it comes to this.

Thanks for sharing. You had some great pictures. Too bad it was cloudy though. The shot of Kathrin is nice!

Thanks! She is such a goof. I wonder where they get it from? :confused3

I was laughing reading about the round abouts....I have been driving through one here for the last 20 years.....20 years later I still don't understand quite how it works and how come all of us don't crash into each other!

Tammi....I'll take the GPS over map quest any time. I have had more faulty map quest directions than the handy dandy GPS. I'm sure they all have their little quirks depending upon the area.

Kristine - I HATE Mapquest! But Google maps aren't too bad. I usually look very carefully at a map before heading out even when using a GPS. This time, I glanced and saw it was a straight shot from our hotel to the park and never thought about it beyond that point. ... I will never do that again!

I just saw that legendary basketball coach Chuck Daly died this morning. He began his coaching career in little old Punxsutawney High School. He and my Dad were good friends. :(

One time I was just blindly following mapquests directions...and it had me turn down this street...drive through a cul de sac and turn back down the same street. I looked like a fool!! It would have been funnier if I would not have had clients in my car....

GPS can be squirrelly. DH just had one issued to him at work. The guys are supposed to program the stores in for the routes and follow those EXACT directions. Well, DH was playing with it on his way home. It doesn't recognize our street, so when he turned off the service road it freaked out. I guess it thought he was going off roading.:scared1:
Standing inside our apt. it says we are on the street across the lake, which is in a gated community. You can't access that street from this side.
Some of the directions it has given DH are down teeny little residential streets, which are not designed for big old honking chip trucks. One street had 2 basketball goals that kids had set up and the truck wouldn't fit between them. I get that the guys need help finding the stores since the routes change on them at least weekly, sometimes daily. BUT if the truck won't FIT then it isn't all that helpful. It also doesn't take things into account like tree branches or other things hanging down that make it impossible to get through with the trucks.

Mine went a little nuts at WDW...it had issues going from Boardwalk to the Grand Floridian.....OK, so I was on some sort of strange service road with out of services buses....I did get there :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Becky is home for the summer. I helped bring her stuff home on Thursday night. We stopped at my mom's overnight on Thursday and drove home yesterday.

Tom-you are an amazing artist with a generous heart.:goodvibes

I don't like GPSes but I also find Mapquest and Google maps irritating....I am so hard to please.;)

We had hamburgers on the grill (it is Jim's Birthday...he is such an ****)

Very nice :thumbsup2

I'm glad she is home. I hope that you can point her in the right direction in her love life while she is home

We also call our GPS Jill as that is the name of the voice we selected. We haven't had any trouble following the route that Jill sends us, but we haven't had trouble with mapquest either :confused3

I need to go to bed. It was a long day. We actually were busy at work tonight plus I worked a private function this afternoon. The good news is that I actually made some money tonight. My hope was to cover the costs of our SixFlags trip tomorrow and I did do that :thumbsup2

Chris got the van running then he and the boys took it to his work and did a recon on it. He said the boys were very helpful, especially Nick. That is my mother's day present from the boys. I think that was very thoughtful as I would have had to do it myself next week.
