Elin, it sounds like a very enjoyable weekend!! :goodvibes Did you hear they are going to re-open the Statue of Liberty's crown to the public? I caught a little snippet on the news the other day.

Chanon, have fun today!! I hope your weather cooperates!

DS was a complete SNARK last night. The bus didn't get back to school until 10:40 PM. He didn't get into bed until 11:40 PM. He is still asleep. He has to be back at school at 11 AM for a performance, so he better wake up soon!

He said they had fun at Six Flags. He didn't ride any of the really big coasters so we may make it through US/IOA in less time that I thought. I had him wear his old glasses and shorts with velcro on the pockets so he could go upside down without worrying, but I don't think he went on anything like that!

I thought it was ironic that they had the huge announcement about Lady Liberty the week we were there! :)

I am glad C had fun but I bet he will still be snarky today. Sounds like he needs his sleep like I do! ;)

Elin your trip sounded fun, wet, but fun. I'm glad you got to spend time with Katherine :goodvibes

Chanon I hope your BBQ goes well. :wizard:

Elin - I call those u-turns to go left "Michigan Lefts". :teeth: First time I saw them was going to see Bob's family in MI and they are known for those. They are proven safer than turning left at a light and keeps the rest of the traffic flowing which apparently doesn't cause as many accidents. :confused3 (Right Vicki??) I don't like 'em either though.

Good Morning! Beans are baking, coolers will be getting cleaned shortly and I have to make a grocery run for caff. free coke and milk. (I'm out and with three pregnant women here, I figured I better get some.) Dinner will be burgers and hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans and green salad; dessert is poor man's parfaits (cut up angelfood, vanilla pudding, fruit and whipped cream in a glass).

Have a great day!!!

Yep! We have them lots of places in Michigan. I'm not really a great fan either. Though they are safer when there is a high traffic area. They do seem to be faster also if traffic is busy and you are trying to turn left at a traffic light.

The sun is out and the wind has picked up. We might actually get to

Maybe... but the merging on the other side of the turn is a BEAR though!

I am going to a local farm & garden place to pick out some hanging baskets. They will be my Mother's Day present from Bob and Kristin!

That's one of the things I hate about driving in Lansing during the rush hour. People don't know how to merge. Every car is supposed to leave room for one car to merge in front of them. If they would do that, you wouldn't have the backups like you do at the on ramps. It causes those merging to try to sneak three or four in between someone who did leave room. Courtesy, people, courtesy!!!

Ewww! Too much personal information for me. :lmao: Oh, you mean on some sort of vehicle. Sorry about that.

:rotfl::rotfl: Yes, silly, he got the new (used) motor in the van and it is running. He still has a bit of tuning to do, but I should be able to register it on Monday. That means I won't have to squeeze all the kids into the camry. The kids will be able to do more things with friends too.:thumbsup2

Elin, you are right. DS is a HUGE snark today. And he refuses to go to the performance at the high school. I hope he doesn't fail Band. That would be unfortunate for him, and it would also be entirely his own fault.

I have been redoing my little chart for WDW. My other one was all scribbly. Now I guess I should start laundry. Ho hum.

We got up and met in the lobby at 8:00 for breakfast. The kids and their parents headed off for Fairleigh Dickinson University for dress rehearsal and the 4:00 concert. Nackie and Kathrin and I plugged in “Jill” (my GPS) and told her to take us to Liberty State Park. We planned to take a ferry over to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty from there. Without going into agonizing detail, Jill was not our best travel guide… She took us on the most bass ackward trek through NJ! I don’t think I could have planned such a poor route, even if I tried my darnedest! We were on roads that weren’t even on my handy dandy AAA map! The highlight of the trip was the roundabout/U-turn she had me take which put me right in the path of an oncoming transit bus!! Luckily I saw him coming and vice versa so we were OK there, but Nackie and I decided we could do a better job using our map and common sense for the trip back.
This is why I will NEVER own a GPS. I would rather spend a few bucks on a map, or stop at a visitors center and get a FREE one, or print directions from Mapquest. Perhaps if I didn't have a good sense of direction or couldn't read a map it would be good, but I'm just an old fashioned girl when it comes to this.

Thanks for sharing. You had some great pictures. Too bad it was cloudy though. The shot of Kathrin is nice!

Sounds yummy! Have fun!

I too do not like the traffic circles when driving in NJ. The only time I did like them was when we were in Ireland. They call them Round Abouts and people actually take turns when merging!!

The van is mechanically finished. It drives wonderfully :cool1: Now to clean the inside, get insurance and get it registered. That will all have to wait until Monday though.

Elin sounds like you had a wonderful time, thanks for sharing!

Chanon enjoy your cook out today, wish I could be there!

Deb :cool1: for Chris getting the van running!
