DDA Chapter 20

I made roast beef and mashed potatoes for 11 people. We worked on wood again. We got a couple of cords split and piled. Chris went to the dump and took the old motor out of the van. The boys helped with wood and road the 4 wheelers. After dinner Nick mowed the lawn. We took out our riding lawn mower (we never use ours as my brother's has twice the mowing deck). We figured Nick is old enough to ride around on it now.

I need to run a special menu to the restaurant. They asked me to type it up last night. Then I think we're heading our for ice cream. I think we've already worked off the calories.

The chicken was a winner. We have added it to our list of favorites. Yummy! We still aren't quite sure what to serve it with but it is really good. Chuck doesn't want it with mashed potatoes. We tried it with roasted red potatoes. I liked that but Chuck was less than impressed with that. He thought maybe rice but that doesn't really interest me. We are now thinking maybe some kind of noodles.

Amy, what do you serve the chicken with? Chuck says to give you a big thanks! He really, really enjoyed it.

I really need to get serious about getting healthy again. My weight has climbed and my jeans were as tight as they were when I started my journey two years ago before I lost the 25 pounds. That must mean that I've gained all 25 back now. Ouch! :scared:

I'm sorry I missed all of your attempts to get in touch with me today, Vicki. Kevin and I had our date to see Avenue Q, and I didn't even touch my cell phone today, since Kevin had his phone.

You were right to make the recipe without precooking the stuffing, since I'm sure you found that it cooks nicely in the dish. Sometimes I don't even make a carbs side dish, since it already has the stuffing...I just make a salad and another vegetable. On other occasions, I've made mashed potatoes, buttered or light alfredo noodles, or just white rice.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! A lady from our old church made it for us when Matthew was born, and I asked her for the recipe right away. :)

I am very happy to read that you know it isn't wholesome entertainment! It was delightfully bawdy.

We thought it was hilarious, Elin! Actually, Kevin commented he thought it would be even more raunchy. :rotfl:

No problem! It was delicious. Chuck is saying to tell you it was very, very good and thank you! He really did enjoy it. He was a little leary when looking at the recipe. I think he was a little surprised he liked it so much. Thanks for the ideas on what to make with it. We'll play with that until we find what we like.

Vicki I see Amy has posted, I was going to suggest a salad.

Jen the Cowboys roof collapsed.

Coach among injured in Cowboys’ roof collapse

IRVING, Texas (AP)—Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis was among 12 people injured when winds just shy of tornado strength ripped through the roof of the team’s indoor practice facility during a rookie minicamp Saturday.

The storm hit while 27 players were going through workouts. There were about 70 people in the facility, counting coaches, other team personnel and media, officials said.

Ten of the injured were taken by emergency vehicles. Two others went to hospitals on their own.

“This worked out very, very well from a medical point of view,” said Dr. Paul Pepe, head of emergency medical services for Dallas County. “Right now, I think we don’t have anybody who is in a life-threatening situation.”

The white, tent-like building is large enough to be seen from miles away. It was built in 2003, for Bill Parcells’ first season as coach.

Storms often make loud noises inside the so-called bubble, but this time overhead lights swayed violently. One of the team’s video staff was the first out the door, followed by Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com. Eatman was hit by something and went down a few feet away, then heard someone screaming for help. He recognized it was Todd Archer of The Dallas Morning News.

Eatman and colleague Josh Ellis tried freeing Archer but the structure wouldn’t budge. “It was like a car,” Eatman said. Then safety DeAngelo Smith and linebacker Brandon Williams were able to get it up just enough for Archer to squirm out.

“All I saw was blue jerseys,” said Archer, whose right elbow and legs were scraped. “I was trapped, I couldn’t move. Then those guys lifted it up—not very far, but I was able to move from my side to my back. … Once I got out of there, I looked back and the whole thing was down.”

Archer said that as he fled for shelter, other players appeared to be stepping through the debris looking for others in need of help.

Eatman said one of the swaying lights wound up more than two football fields away. The giant blue star atop the building lay crumpled on the ground. The storm knocked out power at team headquarters and splintered trees across the property.

Larry Rodriguez, a local television cameraman who was in the news several years ago after he was attacked by Kenny Rogers while filming the former Texas Rangers pitcher, was treated with six stitches for a cut on a hand.

“We checked and we can’t find any other damage than this particular location,” said David Tull, an Irving police spokesman. “The nearby area didn’t have any reports of structural damage.”

Names and details of their injuries were not released due to privacy issues. DeCamillis was seen being removed on a stretcher wearing a neck brace.

“I saw it coming down and didn’t have time to react,” secondary coach Dave Campo said. “I hit the ground and was able to get back up.”

The storm was producing winds measured at 64 mph just before it struck the Cowboys facility, said National Weather Service meteorologist Joe Harris in Fort Worth. A weak tornado is in the range of 65-110 mph, according to NWS guidelines. Power was knocked out for less than an hour.

“We’re lucky no one got electrocuted with all the water in the building,” head coach Wade Phillips said. “A couple of players had minor injuries, but they were all right.”

This was the second of three scheduled days of practices, but Sunday’s session has been canceled.

I'm apartment searching online. I have 4 possibles to check on when I head down tomorrow. I'll call on Monday and see what is available. I have two that would be really nice. One is a little cheaper and seems to be in a less populated area while the other includes a workout room and clubhouse. I am trying to figure out how I'm going to exercise/run in the winter. If I have to join a club, then it would make more sense to put the extra money into an apartment building that has the exercise room included.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. I thought that was behind me when I took the job. There seem to be more of them rather than less.

Good luck finding just the right apartment Vicki. :wizard:

I'm sure that you can do it. Set small goals and try to stick to them. I've been struggling this year too. I'm only up about 7 lbs from my lowest, but those 7 don't want to go anywhere. I was a good girl and had no ice cream when the rest of my family did tonight. Small steps.

Good luck finding just the right apartment Vicki. :wizard:

Yes good luck, but don't just take anything. You still have a bit of time.

Heidi is that a new ticker?

I know! Ive been catching up on all of this since I got home--I saw a video of the collapse and its amazing no one was seriously hurt

I've only seen one news report, but I thought that one person was in serious condition?
