DDA Chapter 19

So my Dad is on his way to the emergency room. He has had the stomach bug, plus coughing and other things. He had previously been to the doctors, but is having lots of pain now.

My Mom wants me to come over to the ER. So much for a night at home. I thought I would get a chance to be home where I am not sleeping, I guess not.

Becky I hope all is well with your dad :wizard:

Glad he isn't any worse for the wear!

I actually didn't start the potty with DS until he was 2 & 10 mos. but by 2 & 11 mos. he was completely clean & dry and in underwear all day. Overnights took MUCH longer, but that's another story. Princess still hasn't mastered the overnight thing, either

Colby is 6 1/2 and still wets at night. I think he'll need Good Nights when he goes to college :sad2:

HA!

The girls are totally showing off their "medals" in the post-race photo!

How perfect  You couldn't have set that up if you tried :thumbsup2

Deb - are you feeling better today?

I was fine today, thanks for asking. Nick didn't fare as well though. He was sent home from school around 1 PM. Thankfully my SIL was home and went to get him as they couldn't get hold of me :confused3

I am going to be horrible at this catch up; I've got a migraine, woke up to my 3rd and final thanks but no thanks from last week, Jim was a complete and total tool last night (he actually threw temper tantrums while demanding respect:rotfl:) I told him that I hope whoever he ends up with next the best of luck.

Beth-I am sorry Laura isn't feeling well. I hope she is feeling well enough to compete tomorrow.

 I'm so sorry that you didn't get the jobs. It is such a tough job market

Theresa -

Marci - another  for you too as you deal with the 20% pay cut solution to keeping companies afloat. I hope it works for all our sakes! And that you guys can weather it OK. I am sorry that your trip got canceled. Hopefully another will find its way into your schedule soon.

Very nicely said :thumbsup2

Hey guys. A quick pop in for a prayer and pixie dust request. Chris called as we were all leaving Target this morning to tell Kristi that he got laid off at the Mini dealership. They have still been getting 3-4 sales per person per month the last month or two so this was a shock. Poor Kristi is about to lose it. She went to pick him up as he was driving a demo. I'm not sure what his next step will be. He may apply to the police department or who knows. Luckily, Kristi got good news from her doctor this morning that her wrist looks good. He'll check it again in June.

Thanks everyone!

Oh no :headache: I hope they can manage until something else come along.

I thought you could still do DDP.

:wizard: Poor Mo!!! Hope she's feeling better soon!

myEmma wasn't feeling well this morning and I pretty much told her to buck up. DH thought she felt warm-I didn't-but she had a temp of 101.2. Poor kid! She was complaining of an upset tummy so we didn't give any motrin or anything. I called and he said she's been pretty quiet on the couch all day but thankfully not vomiting. He said the school nurse called to see where she was (he had called) and she told him that strep was going around. She hasn't complained about a sore throat at all. We'll have to keep an eye on her.

:wizard: for Mo
:wizard: for Emma

Well, I haven't been posting much lately. Been in a bit of a funk. I wasn't sure why until I looked at the calendar. Today is my mom's birthday. She would have been 77 years old today.

Apparently, my husband is more on top of things than I usually give him credit for. He called me a few minutes ago to let me know that he and I are going out to celebrate my mom's birthday. He's taking me out to dinner. What a guy, huh?

So, I guess mom's birthday is the reason I'm feeling a bit blue. I know I'll get over it, but this first one is especially hard. Maybe I'll have Alan pick up a pizza for the kids on his way home, so they can celebrate, too.

 I'm sorry:hug: That is very sweet of Alan to take you out

I don't know that one would be a vast improvement over the other in terms of time. It scares me! :scared: None of the Disney sites work THAT well. The reservations site, the DVC site, the Passholder site - NONE of them are that reliable so there is no way the ADR site will function the way they are saying it will.

You are absolutely right. As good as Disney is at most things, the IT division is pitiful! That is scary!

Robyn,
Loved the Birthday pictures, shame on you for not giving Lucy more cake. :lmao:

Here's Aubrey chillin in her boppy,

Debbie, she's adorable as usual! I miss that little onesie, my girls wore the same one in NB for quite some time.... it was one of my favorites!

GOOD LUCK VICKI AND JENNIFER!!!!

You guys are too sweet! We didn't really need the well-wishes like the 1/2 marathoners did, but I appreciate the thought all the same! I must admit, it was SO much nicer stopping after 3 miles instead of 13 this time! :thumbsup2

Hey everyone, could I ask for some prayers and pixie dust for our neighbors? Richard Lohser was diagnosed with end stage pancreatic cancer in October. He was told that he wouldn't live to see the end of the year. Well, he's still around, but he's fading really quickly. He knows he's going to die and is at peace with it, but his sons and his wife are having a hard time.

It's been so hard on them, but the neighborhood has rallied behind them. We take turns cooking and cleaning their house so Michelle and the boys can spend all their time with Richard. Any prayers for peace would be appreciated.

Oh how sad :( The family will be in my thoughts for sure!

I made the mistake of looking at Touring Plans crowd calendar for our May trip, we're looking at some 9's :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Looks like our side trip to Sea World was a good idea, and with the VIP tour crowds won't be an issue.

I'm considering taking the DVC tour and geting the instant fastpasses, but I'm afraid it could lead to a big expense.

On the up side, we have several days in November that are a 4 :cool1:

Just keep in mind that the fastpasses aren't a guarantee. Some people on the boards have gotten them (I believe Deb did, for one) but nobody I know otherwise that has done the tour has gotten them. They certainly would be a nice perk if you wanted to do the tour anyway, but I wouldn't take time out of your day if that was your end goal!

Help me decide on my Epcot dining. Any reason we should eat in Mexico or China? For those of you that have eaten at Morocco, France or Italy, which do you recommend and why? I'm trying to hit new places that we haven't tried before.

We are going to have the dining plan, since this will be our last trip where Nicholas is a "child". If we do any signature dinners, do you think we could use the ddp for half of the bill and use the TIW for the other half? That way our ddp credits would go further. Or am I overthinking this?

We ate in Mexico this trip because it's one of few that we have left to try (and we feel like we should try them all :)) ... it sucked. So tight, mediocre service, and awful food. I LOVE Mexican food - "real" and "Americanized", "good" and "cheap" (I could eat at TB every week :rotfl:). What we had, after finally choosing something from very limited options, was just plain gross. I was very disappointed :(

We really enjoyed Italy when it was Alfredo's, and we also enjoyed Marrakesh. I love Mediterranean food though, and Tangerine Cafe is one of my favorites so it wasn't a big change from that.

We decided after this trip that we will have to just try one or two new places if there are many left. There is a reason the ones that remain are still on the list.... we had LOTS of sub-par dining experiences this trip. Now we know! :goodvibes:

Wow, Becky. That is unbelievable. I certainly would NOT be happy with $150. That's not even enough to cover the aggravation of it all. Please keep us informed. :wizard:

Wow. That's a lot of money. Though, I have to admit, I'm not sure that I would book there without the characters.

Same here, I was really bummed they did away with them. Now I will probably book again!

We got them in 2006 when we toured.

Debbie - I think Aubrey is really starting to resemble Brandon. :goodvibes:

Thanks for the info. I think we will try Marrakesh and France, Ragland and Pucks, either Citricos or Narcoossee's, and maybe Spoodles. I wish MK had better dining options. We are CP'd and LTT'd out.

Which is better.....Tony's or The Plaza?

Colby is 6 1/2 and still wets at night. I think he'll need Good Nights when he goes to college :sad2:

My sister wet the bed at night until she was 8 or 9. She eventually outgrew it. My grandfather wet the bed until he was in his teens. He told me a story once about how embarrased he was when he wet the couch when he was visiting someone when he was a teen.

Good night ladies. I'm trying to get to the end of KKII.

We haven't tried the Plaza but we enjoyed Tony's, in an Olive Garden sort of way.

My dad's is in 10 days and I've been thinking about him a lot in the last week or so. He would be 70 this year. I can't believe it is over 10 years now.

I posted this wrong, my mothers date of passing is coming up on the 22cd of this month. Her birthday is in Nov., the same date as yours on the 16th.

I think of my father often as well & he has been gone since 1977 :guilty:

Thought I would post this link to all the baby products that are all over the news today for containing trace amounts of formaldehyde and 1.4 dioxane. Our news was just pulling a few names out, but the list is quite lengthy. Yikes!

http://safecosmetics.live.radicaldesigns.org/article.php?id=426

Yikes is right. We use many of those products still  I guess I'd better do more research.

I hope your Dad is okay.

The emblem is on the trash cans on Main Street I believe

Your story is unbelievable. I had no idea that Disney would empty a room like that. Wow that makes me uneasy. Do you have photos of the missing items? I would definitely persue every possible avenue.:wizard:

I haven't eaten at Tony's yet, but I love the plaza!

My dad's date of passing is in November and his birthday is in March. Almost just the opposite of your mom's. It is amazing how much I think about him. I "talked to him" while I was running the half. When they placed the medal around my neck, I started to cry. I was thinking about him and what he would think about my accomplishment.

Ann Marie - good luck with all the inspections! :wizard: How nice of Dana to want to do those things for your moms, but I agree - a DCL med. cruise might not be in the future! Of course, I was listening to an old podcast the other day from '07, and they were talking about the rock-bottom prices Disney lowered the trans-Atlantic cruises to when they went to the Med the first time - might be something to keep an eye on.

FWIW, the transatlantics are literally thousands of dollars less than the Med & Baltic cruises. We booked ours for about $300 total more than we paid for a 4-night on the wonder!

Funny for the day....

WHY MEN DO NOT HAVE ADVICE COLUMNS.
Dear Joe,

Oh my gosh that is too funny! I'm glad it's all men!

I know you'll never believe this, but I have an actual T-shirt question. I'm getting ready to do some shirts for our upcoming trip, and need to know where to get the best dark iron on transfers. Anyone? We ordered some off ebay last time, and they were ok, but made the shirts really stiff where the design was. Any suggestions?

We love Avery brand, and honestly only because they're great transfers! And we don't love them so much that we named our child after them, it's all just a coincidence :teeth:

I'm home. It has been an exhausting couple of days. Friday, my sinuses started to act up. They made running quite interesting. Chuck and I ran the 5K on Saturday. We caught a cab at 5:30 so were up at 4:40. The race started at 7am. We hung around and checked things out. We ran around Epcot World Showcase. He beat me by almost 2 minutes. Mind you, this is his very first race EVER!!!! He is more the hockey/football player type. I'm quite proud of him. I did maintain less than 14 minute miles for the 5K.

Afterwards, we had breakfast with Becky, Jennifer, Kyle, Elise & Avery. We had a really nice time. I got to hold cute little girls at once. I'm hoping Jennifer will post the picture of me holding both of them. Becky and I got to hold the girls for most of our time together except when they were eating.

Chuck & I then went back to our room and we took showers, I took some sinus meds and we then took a nap. My sinus medicine wiped me out and I slept for 4 hours. We were supposed to make a WISH meet at POR at 4:30 and I just couldn't wake up to get there until 6pm so I missed it.

We then took the boat ride to DTD and then the one to Saratoga Springs. We were in bed by 9:00 (but changed the clocks to 10) so we wouldn't miss the half the next morning.

Way to go on maintaining your pace for the half! I'm so glad you finally accomplished something you've been thinking about for quite some time. It was great meeting you and Chuck! I do have some really great pictures, I'll try and post them tomorrow!

I started to cry when they placed the medal around my neck. I'm still not sure why. Like I said, I never really questioned whether I could do it. I knew if I trained for it, I could do it. I think it might have just been that I finally did train for it after thinking about it for so many years.

As part of the packages that I purchased for Chuck & I, it included breakfast for us after the race. It also included a massage for me which was fantastic. Afterwards, we went back to the room, I took a shower and another nap.

We had paid for the Pirates and Princess Party that was cancelled so they created a Happily Ever After Party. I would have asked for a refund but Chuck wanted to try it out. As I suspected, it was lousy. Only had a few attractions open. They did have a Beauty & the Beast show and a special Fantasmic for party-goers. They did make up for it by giving out a complimentary gift when you left for the night. The complimentary gift was a series of Lithographs - one for each park. They are beautiful. We ended up with 2 sets since we both attended. That made the money for the party worth it.

Ooh, can you post or link to the lithos? There is no way we could have made the party so I'm glad we canceled, but I'd love to see what they came up with. I was curious as to what the "special gift" would be :)

Speaking of which, I still have no refund....

What a great photo!!!!

Can you believe that the CM took one with all 3 of our cameras, and we were all looking (and smiling, and eyes open, etc) in all of them!? What are the odds?! :rotfl:

Becky, Jennifer, Kyle, Chuck and I all ran in the 5K. I also ran the Half. Elise and Avery got to ride in the stroller. I was just a short distance behind Kyle and Jennifer in the 5K. They were amazing running with the stroller.

 I meant to ask how ridiculous we looked! That was the only 45 minutes of the trip we enjoyed that stroller, but it was great for the race!

Wait until she realizes what athleticism is required to be a dancer! :rotfl:

Yes, but it's graceful! Not running around a field sweating!

::yes:: I smiled when I read Elin's post, but Tammi you are right -- it's so different being sore and even sweaty from something as beautiful as dance! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: We close on our new house at the end of this month.:yay:

The people who want to buy our house are giving us some bother. Now let me preface this with the fact that our house is waaayy below market value so we could get it sold fast. The house across the street sold for $100,000 more than ours is going for. Even withthe market downturn we are still underpriced for the area comps.

So anyway, they want a "credit" for a new oil tank. We had the oil tank inspected before we put the home up for sale. All in working orde,r no leaks yadda yadda, and we have the inspectors papers to prove it. So they want to take a rock bottom priced home in a great area to lower it even further. Dana's company won't allow the price to go any lower as it is not "reasonable" so it's not even on the table for us..but jeez, if they can't afford this house go find another one! Stop playing games already.:headache: Thank goodness we can take the company buyout & just be done with all this. I am hanging on til the end of June til schools out & then we are outta here... and I don;t want to move again!!!!:headache: Ok maybe to Orlando someday!:rotfl: :lmao: :thumbsup2

How frustrating! I hope it's resolved quickly (or already!) :wizard:

Tammi - look what Ashley gave Kristin today!

Great shirt!
