DDA Chapter 19

I'm finally caught up. This has been a strange day. I feel like I've spent the day going 100 miles an hour in reverse. There was a lot of drama at the pool this morning, it doesn't really effect me, but I still had to hear about it and try to play devils advocate with the younger employees  Then I came home to find Nick sick and was disturbed that they hadn't contacted me (no message on home phone or my cell phone and they didn't even call Chris) I'm glad that SIL was home and she is on our emergency contact sheet, but Chris did have his phone on him all day so he could have dealt with it. I had to rearrange afternoon daycare with my Mom and she was nice enough to come here. Then I got to work tonight to find extra little projects that they needed me to complete. Work was slow tonight and the tips were not good either so it made for a crappy end to a long day. Then I had to run to pick up ginger ale, powerade, popcicles and Good Nights. I went to Kmart, but it was 9:02 and they now close at 9 PM which I did not know so I had to hit a grocery store. I finally got home and sat down at 10 PM. Now I'm headed to bed. The good news is that I have the entire weekend off

I wanted to ride splash again but it was closed but they said it would reopen. I do not think it did. Although I did not stay until midnight.

Good morning, I am back :) I am going to try & catch up so I can read about what has been going on while I have been away.

For the most part I had a wonderful time, the weather was beautiful(freezing here now lol). I was able to meet up with Becky a few times but am saddened that I did not get to meet up with Vicki or Jennifer :guilty:

Will post more later, hope all is well with everyone!

I'm sorry it didn't work out! I hope things looked up! :goodvibes:

I need some advice from those of you who have planned longer Disney trips (Anne Marie, Elizabeth, to name a few). We've got nine days planned in August. I am trying to do our itinerary and am so used to planning to be at a park at rope drop. Also, our trips are usually 5-6 days, so I pretty much plan something for everyday. But now I feel like I must slow down, stretch things out, sleep in and go later in the day, stay up later, have a non-park day. How do you do this, plus still make your ADRs? I've made a list of where I'd like to eat, but I have to somehow fit them into a schedule.

ETA: I take that back. I just checked and my waitlist for BLT came through, so now we will arrive on the 9th. We'll be there 8 days, not 9.

Do either Citricos or Narcoosee's have Wishes viewing like CG?

We have done 10 day trips before and have gone commando-style as well as taking it easy. We prefer easy. I always get up and go into the parks and when the kids were younger they did too. Not so much any more!

So, if my kids were the age of yours, my touring style would be to get up early to hit the parks, come back to the room in the middle of the day for R&R including pool time and naps, then head out to dinner and back to a park.

There is very little viewing of Wishes from Citricos but you can go out on the deck at Narcoossee's to see the show.

We usually do a 10- or 11-day trip each year and take it much slower. We like to do as Elin suggested since we are morning people anyway (or I am :rolleyes1 ) and then have downtime in the afternoon. We LOVE these trips!

When do Jennifer, Kyle and the girls get back? I am going into TwinWithdrawal, I think!

:rotfl: You are too funny!

Today, I think! :cool1:

She said that she would update her blog/pictures at least once for us during the trip, but she didn't! ;)

Excuse me?! There were at least 3 or 4 entries that posted while I was gone, most of which had never-before-seen material! :snooty: ;)

You're crazy, too! ;) I said I wouldn't be getting online at all from WDW, but that I would schedule posts to appear, which I did.

Your TwinWithdrawal made you read things that didn't exist, it would appear...... :teeth:

Yikes is right. We use many of those products still  I guess I'd better do more research.

I hope your Dad is okay.

The emblem is on the trash cans on Main Street I believe

Your story is unbelievable. I had no idea that Disney would empty a room like that. Wow that makes me uneasy. Do you have photos of the missing items? I would definitely persue every possible avenue.:wizard:

You are correct it is a main street trash can.

The one manager CM said that they are not allowed to move stuff that is not packed in bags. Luckily most of my stuff was not unpacked or I would have been without more stuff probably. So it should not have happened. They could not figure out if they moved my stuff first. And then mousekeeping cleaned out the room. Or mousekeeping cleaned the room and then my stuff got moved out.

They kept apologizing but an apology only goes so far. They also kept saying this type of thing never happens. Well I sure as heck hope it does not.

I kept just about everything in my car the rest of the trip. As I just did not feel comfortable leaving it in my room. I did put me in a rotten mood for awhile.

Arrgh! I've gotten 2 thanks but no thanks in the last 24 hours....one for the foundation I really wanted to work at....and I've gotten no response to an email I sent to the one interview I had on Friday. I am so frustrated!!!

Gee, I wonder if that is why I can't sleep?? and have had a dull to roaring headache the last 3 days??

Ann Marie

Yeah for a closing date on your house.

We have all Kenmore appliances, also a word of caution, my best friend has a stainless steel fridge and hates it she said its impossible to keep clean (fingerprints).

You know, I read this a lot but have NO trouble keeping mine clean/without fingerprints.... We love ours!

Hi! :wave2:

I'm back on page 46, but I wanted to let you all know I was back in Cincinnati. The kids and I had a great time visiting my family, and Kevin was very productive in our absence.

We got home Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m. Kevin and I left for the Billy Joel/Elton John concert. Though they can't hit the high notes as well anymore, they are still amazing singers, and we had a great time (especially people-watching ;) ).

Matty was thrilled with his big boy bed, and these past two nights, he hasn't given us any trouble with getting out of bed, etc. Now, if only potty-training him would be so easy. He claims he is "too little." Silly!

Yesterday, I had a wonderful conference with Alyssa's teacher, and I tried to tackle unpacking, laundry, etc. Poor Noah was pretty off-schedule, so he was a crabby-patty, but he's doing much better today. He's going through a little separation-anxiety when I leave the room though. And, he's still waking up at least twice a night. He's silly, too! :goodvibes

We have lots of things coming up: I'm hosting a shower for my SIL on 3/21, Alyssa and Kevin are in the church musical on 3/22, Alyssa's Webkinz birthday party is on 3/28, followed by a whirlwind of Easter activities.

I hope you are all well. I'll try to get caught up on the thread this weekend. Take care everyone! :grouphug:

I don't see my name listed here....... :sad2:  :confused3

Hello all.

I had a great multi-quote and response started earlier. I really thought I had posted it, but I guess that's when I got distracted by lots of screams and cries from downstairs. I guess Connor was running (as usual) and fell (which happens alot) into either the corner of the wall or the corner of the baseboards. He ended up with a gash in his forehead. We stopped the bleeding and covered it with a butterfly closure. When I went to look at it a few hours later it was still gaping around the closure so I ended up calling the exchange. They suggested stitches so Chris came to get him just after 6 and they aren't back yet. Last I knew they were waiting for the topical numbing agent to go to work and were going to be putting in two stitches. I feel so bad that I didn't take him in earlier, but in the heat of the moment I didn't think it was that bad. After a second look and talking to the nurse, I realized that while not long or deep, the width was just too much to heal well on it's own. :( Hopefully, he'll be home soon and doing okay after the stitches. We did go and get him a Monster Truck to cheer him up, plus I'd made him brownies this afternoon.

Poor connor! I hope it is healing well now :wizard:

I guess I probably shouldn't mention that while I'm reading this, I'm eating Ben and Jerry's Peach Cobbler ice cream. Sorry, Tammi! I'll have a spoonful for you.

I got Katie all registered for Jr. High today. It was kind of a bittersweet thing. She's really excited about things. Along with her required classes of English, Science, Utah history, Math, CTE, PE and Art she is also going to take Intermediate Orchestra, Choir, and Drama. If any of her electives don't come through, she chose Mythology, Dance and French I as her alternates. It just doesn't seem possible that I have a child old enough to be in 7th grade.

Now, I get to spend some time getting ready for the twins birthday on the 21st. They are going to have a cooking party, where their friends will come over, decorate aprons, make chef hats, make their own pizzas, put together fruit salad on skewers and watch Ratatouille. They are only inviting 6 friends, so it should be ok.

What a fun birthday party! We decided on a Baby Einsteins theme for the girls. I am dying at how quickly they're growing up these days, but at least fun big girl parties are something to look forward to! :thumbsup2

Fine as frog hair! :)

How are you doing?

:rotfl:

Just so you know, pictures will go to Facebook last. I update that much more frequently in general, but the limit there drives me crazy (60 per album) so I get around to posting there long after my blog and the DIS (in the case of a trip report).... only after I've made everyone look elsewhere do I post on FB, which gives me some time to just pick out a few ;)

Deb hope you can relax & enjoy your weekend!

Yes, it is.

I'm waiting to see them in their helmets. ;) :rolleyes1

Ugh, what a joke! I understand Disney's need to cover their butts, but at the same time the fact that they didn't enforce the helmet "rule" was almost as annoying as tracking them down in the first place! It was one of those lose-lose situations. We ticked the girls off getting them on for the start and for pictures, then took them off at about mile 1 when they started falling off anyway

Well, I haven't been posting much lately. Been in a bit of a funk. I wasn't sure why until I looked at the calendar. Today is my mom's birthday. She would have been 77 years old today.

Apparently, my husband is more on top of things than I usually give him credit for. He called me a few minutes ago to let me know that he and I are going out to celebrate my mom's birthday. He's taking me out to dinner. What a guy, huh?

So, I guess mom's birthday is the reason I'm feeling a bit blue. I know I'll get over it, but this first one is especially hard. Maybe I'll have Alan pick up a pizza for the kids on his way home, so they can celebrate, too.

:( it is hard, I know.

Glynis

WTG Alan :cheer2:

Your never to old to want your daddy either. :(

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Thanks Jennifer. I was just reading your blog and looking for updates and pictures. :rolleyes1

Yeah, I JUST got through my pictures tonight at about 8pm. Now I'm in bed catching up here, and my head is throbbing from staring at a computer screen since 2pm :rotfl: Ridiculous!

That will all have to wait until tomorrow, I'm sorry! I was just impressed that I got through them all the first day back, though! :upsidedow

How perfect  You couldn't have set that up if you tried :thumbsup2

I was fine today, thanks for asking. Nick didn't fare as well though. He was sent home from school around 1 PM. Thankfully my SIL was home and went to get him as they couldn't get hold of me :confused3

You aren't kidding! We can't often get them to LOOK in the same direction, even! :rotfl:

I'm glad you're feeling better, but sorry your household still has stuff going around! :(

Thanks for the info. I think we will try Marrakesh and France, Ragland and Pucks, either Citricos or Narcoossee's, and maybe Spoodles. I wish MK had better dining options. We are CP'd and LTT'd out.

Which is better.....Tony's or The Plaza?

Ooh, I forgot about your first question. I second Elizabeth, we LOVE Wolfgang Puck's! Do try that one!

As for the other two, we've never eaten at the Plaza but the menu always seems so lame for a table service, IMO!

What trip are you asking about? August?

I'll see about getting a picture of them or seeing if I can find them online somewhere. They really are nice.

This is the set that we got.

http://cgi.ebay.com/SET-OF-4-DISNEY...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

How beautiful, thanks for the link! I hadn't seen those before! It still wouldn't have been worth it for us because we HAD to be in the room much earlier than that each night (more on that later ), but at least it was something worth while since it sounds like the party kind of stunk.

So they took blood from my Dad. It came back normal. They are doing a cat scan to see if it his appendix or gall bladder.

I am headed to bed. I have to work tomorrow.

The electricity just flicked off for a second.

Night all!

Janet, do you eat at the Plaza often? If so, do you use the DDP? I can't seem to make it worth while, unless we paid OOP. I'd love to hear more of your thoughts!

Becky, you got some really unique pictures! Thanks for posting!

Ok, I've got to get to sleep. I can't believe I finished the pictures AnD catching up here. I'm going to be sorry in a few hours.... :rotfl:

Goodnight, DDA!

You aren't kidding! We can't often get them to LOOK in the same direction, even! :rotfl:

My picture of just the three of us and the two girls, they are not looking straight ahead but the big group they are.;)

I forgot to mention - we booked a trip for October! For now, we grabbed a room at VWL for 10/4-10/8, then at OKW for 10/8-10/14. We might end up modifying that depending on whether Kyle gets his vacation requests or not, if we invite my family for part of it, etc, but it's a start! :teeth:
