DDA Chapter 18

I'm just hoping to avoid my DN5's b-day, which is 9/15. I was afraid that was going to be her demand when we talked to her last night, but she was only concerned with the # of cousins she currently has - 5 right now. She tells me a 6th would be fine, but she thinks 10 cousins would be too many. I assured her I had no intention of giving her 5 more cousins! :rotfl:

Tammi - great pics! I can't get over how much more grown-up Alyssa looks with her shorter hair. She's such a beauty!
Try to stay away from 9/11 too. I just wouldn't want the baggage that goes with that date.

Thanks. But Alyssa gets mad when people tell her she looks grown-up. According to her, she doesn't want to be close to death! :rotfl2:

Lindsay - After 12 weeks you can have caffeine in moderation. ;) Unless that has changed, too! :scared1:

I had caffeine in moderation from the day I peed on a stick. My OB said she had coffee every day, too.... so that's still "safe"! :thumbsup2 It's never really been doctors pushing against it, just moms with certain opinions :)

Tammi are you ready for your weekend getaway :dance3:

He finally broke down and went to the doctor today. The dr. ordered blood work to make sure he doesn't have an injury to any organs, and he also sent him for chest and rib xrays. He is in a lot of pain, but if he stays medicated he's okay. He probably has a crack or a bad bruise to one of his ribs.

Yikes! I hope he feels better soon, I didn't realize he was still hurting :wizard:

Snow, such a dirty four letter word! We are to have it most days coming.

Yuck! Have a wonderful trip! (And I never noticed the nametag tickers say "congratulations" at the end. That made me )

I thought this must be something new! So what about those of us that already have children :confused3 Garrett & Riley seem normal & healthy to me.

I got heartburn with Riley, but vanilla ice cream seemed to help :thumbsup2

if I remember correctly it does not affect the baby per se. It can cause mom to get real sick and if she gets to sick then it could cause complications. Especially if she can not keep enough fluids down then she becomes dehydrated and starts cramping. IF those don't stop then its bad for baby.

That's pretty much it. It's not that it's really common at all. I think they literally put a number like 99.7% of the time it would do nothing, but IF you get sick it's terrible for mom and baby. A similar one is changing litter boxes... it's probably not an issue, but the illness a pregnant woman/fetus can get is lethal, so they tell moms to use it as an excuse from the get-go and not change them! :)

Seems I keep being reminded that Garrett is growing up. He came home from school today very excited because guess what.......

He passed his drivers permit test! So by Tuesday he should have his permit in hand :scared1:

He told me that now he can drive me around :faint:

Congratulations to Garrett! :yay:

So, how long do you think it will be before she has her PawPaw wrapped around her finger?

Such sweet pictures! :goodvibes:

Well, I think I'm going to take my first dose of Zofran, and head to bed. This stuff better work, because the generic w/insurance was still almost $100. :scared1: (Retail was $600!:scared: )

Goodnight DDA! :cloud9:

It's worth every penny, I assure you! I plan on responding to your PM eventually ;) but wanted to tell you I highly suggest it! It took the edge off of my really sick weeks, and even completely fixed the easier ones towards the end! I hope you find that relief everyone boasts about... and soon! :)

Try to stay away from 9/11 too. I just wouldn't want the baggage that goes with that date.

Thanks. But Alyssa gets mad when people tell her she looks grown-up. According to her, she doesn't want to be close to death! :rotfl2:

Tammi, your dramatic little lady cracks me up! :rotfl: Wonderful pictures! :goodvibes

I could use a little prayer for miss Elise. She's been very sick approaching 2 weeks now, and can't shake it. Instead, she's getting worse. Now I fear we might have uncovered a little Reactive Airway Disease (precursor to Asthma, which one of our girls (at least) is bound to have). I hope not, but at the same time I would rather her "illness" go away and still find the RAD that we can then treat, rather than just have her continue to be sick. She's REALLY sick, as in going into these coughing fits where she just turns purple because she coughs so hard and can't catch her breath. All day. :guilty: Avery has escaped with just a bit of a cold it seems, which is a blessing but also makes me more concerned about whatever Elise is battling. Boo.

Hopefully, they're "getting it out of their system" before WDW. That would also mean, though, that it has to go away before then

Our internet and phones are on the skitz too, maybe because it continues to be windy. Not as bad as it was a week ago, but it seems the winds have never quite died down. Between that and the ice storm before, there are still trees coming down everywhere, etc.

I'm ready for WDW.

I hope you all are doing well, and I'm sorry I only catch up a bit at a time. I've got to use my sparse internet time (and really, sparse children-sleeping time these days) the most efficient way possible.

Make it a great day! :wizard: :goodvibes :grouphug:

Layoffs, reorganization at Disney theme parks
Further cuts expected in coming months

By Paul Bond

Feb 18, 2009, 08:50 PM ET
Pink slips were issued Wednesday at Disney Parks and Resorts and more are on the way, courtesy of a reorganization designed to eliminate redundancies at a unit that employs 80,000 workers.

Disney wouldn't say how many were laid off or how many more layoffs are expected.

The reorganization, said Parks and Resorts chairman Jay Rasulo, is not only a response to the weak economy but also a way to further the successes of a shake-up four years ago.

Rasulo said a reorganization in 2005 led to speedier delivery of theme-park shows based on "High School Musical" and to the simultaneous openings of "Toy Story Mania" at parks in Florida and California, and he seeks more of the same.

With Wednesday's announcement, resort development will merge with attractions and entertainment development and be led by Bruce Vaughn, the chief creative executive at Imagineering, and Craig Russell, the chief design and project delivery executive.

Not mentioned by Rasulo was John Lasseter, though insiders say he will remain principal creative adviser to Imagineering, a role he assumed when Disney purchased Pixar in 2006.

Also, a business development and real estate team will combine and be headed by executive vp Nick Franklin, and the teams operating infrastructure at Walt Disney World and at Disneyland Resort will merge, led by president of worldwide operations Al Weiss.

Heads of the new departments are expected to make further cuts in staff in the months ahead.

"Organization changes require difficult decisions, including the elimination of some roles," Rasulo said in a memo to employees. "These decisions were not made lightly and we know this will be a challenging transition. The people affected are our friends and colleagues, and they have made valuable contributions."

The reorganization comes just weeks after Parks and Resorts offered voluntary buyouts to 600 executives amid a 4% decline in quarterly revenue to $2.7 billion and a 24% drop in operating income to $382 million.

Jennifer  lot's of PD for little Elise, :wizard:

Lindsay - I hope your meds worked last night!

Jennifer - I hope little Miss Elise can kick that nasty business plaguing her. Kristin used to do the same thing, eventually vomiting tons of mucus. Hopefully this is just a bug she is having a tough time dealing with and not an issue to be dealt with as she continues to grow. :grouphug:

Jennifer :wizard: for Elise, I hope she is better soon

I forgot to mention that I got my h20 order yesterday, that was quick!

OMG I just found out one of our friends has twins and is expecting triplets!!!! :faint: She's a VP of our twins club, and I just can't even begin to imagine.......

He is in a lot of pain, but if he stays medicated he's okay. He probably has a crack or a bad bruise to one of his ribs.

I'm so sorry. I hope he heals quickly.

Ok, I see that it is too early to tell the gender. I'm sorry you are feeling so queasy. I have no advice for you on that, as I didn't go through it. I also didn't go through any cravings either. I actually had very boring, uneventful pregnancies.

The awards assembly was nice. There were 3 different awards presented to each of the first grade classrooms. The first was perfect attendance, so I knew she wasn't getting that. Next was Teacher Recognition, meaning that a student did something wonderful that the teacher wanted him/her recognized for. Not Alyssa. Third was most improved, again not Alyssa. So I knew it had to be the last one, which was the Soarin' Award for Academic Excellence. She got a medal, an Eagle (school mascot) pin (that excited her thanks to our pin collecting) and a Principal's pencil. I went to Walmart after and got her Taylor Swift's new CD as a little gift from me. I'll post some pictures later. I would post the video I took, but everyone was called up by first and last names, plus it has the name of the school and everything, so I'm being kinda cautious about that.

Congrats to Alyssa!

Seems I keep being reminded that Garrett is growing up. He came home from school today very excited because guess what.......

He passed his drivers permit test! So by Tuesday he should have his permit in hand :scared1:

He told me that now he can drive me around :faint:

Congrats to him! I'm already terrified of when my boys start driving.

Congrats! :cool1:

Thanks for the well wishes for Stephanie. We took a nap and she's got Motrin in her. She says she's feeling a lot better, but I hope that's not just the Motrin talking. She's currently playing Animal Crossing and having a great time!

I hope she is feeling better today.

Heidi- Wishing you and John a very Magical trip!

Amy-'s I am so sorry the sickies will not vacate your house. :wizard: that they get the message to leave. Don't worry about us.

Tammi- Great pics!! I just can't get over Alyssa's new look, she is gorgeous. :wizard: that Bob heals quickly.

Tia- I can't wait to see pics from Terra's birthday party.

Elizabeth- Did you survive playgroup?

Janet- Congrats to Garrett!!

I had a great night, down 3.8lbs for the week. I really wish though, that I could get motivated to exercise again. I would probably be able to reach my goal a lot quicker. I was doing so well those first 2 weeks but fell completely off the wagon. My bed is just too warm in the morning to drag my butt out of it. Hopefully, once it gets warmer I'll get back to it.

You go, girl! That is terrific progress! Keep it up, and you'll be down in a new second digit in no time. I also need to get to exercising. I plan on changing clothes before taking Andrew to baseball, and walking tonight.

So, how long do you think it will be before she has her PawPaw wrapped around her finger?

IMG_0054-2.jpg

The minute she was born!

Congrats:cool1:

I tried phenergan too. It also worked for awhile.

:cool1: :cool1: That is very exciting. Nick can't wait until he turns 15, only another year and a half.

I eat cold cuts every day. It's usually ham for me. Colby does too.

Good luck with that. I've been really good for almost 2 months now and the weight just doesn't want to go. I'm still staying right around 150. I want to lose, I'm dieting, I'm exercising and it isn't working :sad2:

I had planned to hit the gym after work, but someone called in sick and someone else didn't show up so we only had 3 waitstaff which meant we all had to close. The gym closes at 10 PM and I drove by at 9:55.

Did you start eating more to compensate for the calories you are burning off? Did you try varying the exercise, so that one day it's swimming, one day it's cardio, one day it's weights? I'm sure you are still adding muscle. Once that levels off, that muscle will help you burn calories quicker.

I'd also make sure you are measuring things. I find when I slow down and look at my journal, I either haven't been keeping up or I got lazy and stopped weighing and measuring, so I was eating more than I thought I was. Hang in there!

Well, I think I'm going to take my first dose of Zofran, and head to bed. This stuff better work, because the generic w/insurance was still almost $100. :scared1: (Retail was $600!:scared: )

Goodnight DDA! :cloud9:

I hope it helped! I agree with Elizabeth. We need to plan lunch or maybe a movie if you aren't up to eating out in honor of your pregnancy.

Prayers for Elise! I hope she is more comfortable today.

Happy Birthday to Elin's Bob

Happy Birthday Bob! :cheer2:

Andrew's grades came in yesterday -- all A's. He's getting closer to that i-phone. Jake is going in with Randy to work for a couple of hours, then his friend's parents will pick him up on the way home from their conference. Later today, they are off to Great Wolf Lodge. He's beyond excited.

Andrew will be dropped off with me, and we'll go to his conference (and Jake's) after lunch. Andrew has done well in school, but he hates having to sit in front of the eight teachers (5 teachers, an advisor and two speech teachers) and have them talk to him and us about his work. His speech processing makes him slower to respond in awkward situations. I told him it's good practice for work interviews. We may run by work for a while after that, then he has baseball practice tonight. I'm going to hopefully work from home tomorrow.

Better get back to work. Have a good day everyone.
