DDA Chapter 17

DS is in a bit of a sticky situation. :guilty:
Apparently in PE some days the coaches play each other in one-on-one basketball while the kids watch. Apparently some of the kids have been betting on the games. They have been betting with the coaches, and money is changing hands. One of the asst. principals called DS down to the office today to ask him what goes on in PE. DS told him. (DS swears he has never bet on the games. We don't allow him to take money to school, but I suppose he could sneak it and we wouldn't know.)
After school DS was on his way to Band and the coaches stopped him and asked him why he got called to the office. They kept pressing him for more info and he told them he was being questioned about PE. :sad2:

I am going to call the asst. principal in the morning and see what is going on. He also needs to know that the coaches know DS tattled on them. :scared:

Wow nothing like putting your ds on the spot! Hope it all works out & yes I would be calling the school as well.

Here's the fleece hoodie I made Lizzy. I found the Pooh fleece as a remnant on Black Friday. Now it can be nice and warm when we go to Disney. My countdown is wrong. I only have 5 days. I never fixed it after I added a night with the 7 for 4 deal. I'm a bit :scared1: and a lot :yay: I'm so excited to be returning to the Poly!!!

Looks great! Five more days, how exciting & going to the Poly as well :cool1:

I think you are OK if you are eating peanut butter. The last report is that they are looking at peanut paste, not butter. It is what goes into cookies and pastries and ice cream and granola bars and stuff like that. I hope Gary is feeling better very soon.

Any certain granola bars? I have been eating the Nature Valley sweet & salty peanut bars.

I agree... I hope you get yourself straightened out soon so you will start feeling better, Debbie.

I am still sick. It is all I can do to get my teaching done. I come home and Kristin feeds me soup and I go to bed. I just wanted to try to catch up here before going to bed. I hope everyone else who has been feeling poorly gets better very soon! :grouphug:

Elin sorry to hear you are still feeling under the weather. pixiedust: that you are well soon.

Robyn- I am at the same weight as you. I would like to be under 200 by my weigh in on February 2nd. Hopefully I will make it.:cool1: :cool1:

So my Uncle to be's brother died of an asthma attack which caused a heart attack. He was only 40. Plus my co-worker's Mom died from cancer.

In other news, I am the proud owner of round trip airfare to Florida for March 2-10. I figured you only live once. It was only a bit over $100. Had I convinced myself I did not need a checked bag, it would have been $30 less. Now to figure out other details. I also found out they have a kiosk at the mall I could have went to instead of dealing with going to the airport to avoid the online booking fee.

Becky I am so sorry to hear about your Uncle & co-worker :grouphug:

:cool1: on booking a trip! Have fun planning.

Bernadette, your EA experience was terrible! As I said, we've always had WONDERFUL, brand new cars... but I guess even that could be a lemon. I will certainly (hopefully remember to) take your advice!

Janet - Keep an eye on Gary. There is a NASTY GI bacterial thing making its rounds and it lasts for days. My boss was down and out for 7 days. She lost 9 pounds. Try to keep liquids going into him even if they won't stay in there. ;)

Guess who has it now :guilty: I have been up & down since 2am. I was suppose to work today for my manager as she is needed at another store. I am trying to get that straightened out, I just don't think I can do it today.

Gary is still not feeling well, I was hoping he could take the boys to school & drop Blue off at the vet, but that is not happening either.

So I will go out & hope I don't need a bathroom real quick. I just feel drained at the moment.

I am tempted to keep DS home tomorrow. Just give him a freebie day and write a note saying he wasn't feeling well. Then I can talk to the principal or whoever and know that DS is safe with me. What do you guys think?

I would be tempted to do this myself. Did they talk to any other students?

Elizabeth, I think it would be fine to keep DS out... poor kid!

I hope all of the DDA sickies go away soon, including whatever is inflicting all the kitties!

Good morning everyone!
It was so nice sleeping past 730 today--it almost felt like a weekend!
Im hoping today isnt an all day thing. There is not much going on this weekend that i know of, so it will be nice just to relax a bit.

have a great day everyone!

Hi all,

Thanks so much for virtually keeping me company tonight (although I'm fairly certain the majority of you are asleep at this hour)! I really needed to get my mind off of RL for a bit, and catching up on tens of pages of DDA chatter was refreshing. So, even though I didn't respond, thank you so much for being there, and a huge dose of :wizard: :grouphug: for all, particularly for all of those fighting sickness. And, a happy birthday to Glynis!

I'm sorry I've been away again for a few days. I was determined to get a lot of things done around the house before I left for FL, and my computer is still not fixed, so that ate up a lot of time shuttling it back and forth to the Geek Squad.

I got to Florida Wed. evening, and am here in my grandparent's old home with my parents. Unfortunately, today was not a good day for us. Jonathan called me this morning, and said the sales force in his division received a 20-second voice mail from their VP that they were to have an "office day" today, and wait by the phone for further direction - i.e., layoffs were beginning. This came out of left field (although some things have happened with a drug they were certain would be given FDA approval, and it seems indefinitely stalled at this point), and needless to say, it was a harrowing morning. I felt so bad that this was happening to Jonathan while I was 1300+ miles away, and could do nothing but offer support over the phone and get down on my knees and pray.

The good news - he was spared (although you certainly wonder if you should add the "for now" to that statement). Our hearts just break for all those that lost their job - they had almost 300 people in their sales division, and there are only 160 left - it affected all levels too, from managers on down - the field level managers had no clue either that this was going to happen. Of the 10 people that covered the DFW metro area, there are only 3 left - 2 others got reassigned to other sales divisions in the company, but 5 were let go.

The irony was not lost on us that it was 1 month to the date of my lay-off. I've never been a suspicious person, but I think I've decided I do not like the 22nd day of any month.

Here's hoping that the days ahead will be better for all - I'm beginning to wonder how much worse the economy can get, but I have a feeling we're about to find out. For now, I'm staying in FL, although I feel like I should go home. I know Jonathan doesn't want me to, but it doesn't feel right to stay here when all I want to do is give him a hug - I know that's all I wanted after my ordeal last month. We'll see how things go in the next day or so. At least the weekend is coming up - nothing bad can happen workwise then!

Thanks for listening, DDA, and I'll check in tomorrow. I hope everyone has restful nights' sleep.

Oh what a stressful day, even if the outcome wasn't as bad as it could have been. I'm glad Jonathan still has his job, though I know that much of a corporate changeup is never easy on anyone. Good luck figuring out where you need to be, and please try and enjoy your time with your family some while you are there! :grouphug:

And i read everything but lets see

Becky-Congrats on the vacation!

Lindsay-Im sorry you guys have to go through all of this, but glad that jonathan still has his job

Elizabeth-WOW, what a mess that your poor DS is in!

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
I'm sorry you and Jonathan are going through this, Lindsay. Here's lots more pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for both of you.

Lindsay, I am glad Jonathan was able to keep his job! :thumbsup2
Momboss said they had a meeting yesterday. For now they are not laying off anybody else. She told me about 4 or 5 other companies that are laying off hundreds to thousands of people. :sad2:

Guess who has it now :guilty: I have been up & down since 2am. I was suppose to work today for my manager as she is needed at another store. I am trying to get that straightened out, I just don't think I can do it today.

Oh, Janet! I hope you and Gary both feel better soon!! pixiedust:

I would be tempted to do this myself. Did they talk to any other students?

Elizabeth, I think it would be fine to keep DS out... poor kid!

DS didn't know of anyone else being called into the office, but obviously somebody (either a student or a parent) said something to get the ball rolling. I think I am going to keep him out at least for this morning so I have some time to talk to the principal. With the economy it isn't like these guys are just going to waltz straight off to another job, so I imagine they are not going to go quietly.

DH got his new camera today. It came with the original box. That pleased him. It also came with the manuals and so forth. Now he has a camera that actually uses the battery he bought on clearance! :rotfl:

That is terrific news. When is he going to post more pics for us? I would love to see more from the Arboretum trip.

Robyn- I am at the same weight as you. I would like to be under 200 by my weigh in on February 2nd. Hopefully I will make it.:cool1: :cool1:

Oh no - so sorry about Uncle to be's borther and your co-worker's Mom. :grouphug:

That is terrific news about your next trip!

Lindsay -- I'm so sorry! And I'm a little surprised. I've cut back on many things in my life, but not on my meds.

Oh no -- feel better!

I hope everyone else that has been sick is feeling better, and that no one else gets sick. PD also sent for Blue and Pearl.

I finally had hot water today! :cheer2: :cheer2: It's the little things in life that are terrific today!

And I'm beginning to feel better. Just a little, but I'll take it. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Everyone who is trying to eat better -- good luck with the weekend -- that's always my most difficult time.

Janet hope Gary is feeling better soon. :wizard:
Don't forget a boutonniere for Garrett.

I love it, can you make me one? ;)

Here's the fleece hoodie I made Lizzy.

Ok everyone who wears glasses, how do you do it? I have had glasses since 10th grade, but never wore them full time (yes I know shame on me, but I just couldn't get use to them) until about 6 years ago and I still really can't get used to them. The minute they get a speck on them I have to clean them, don't know how everyone in my family wears such dirty glasses. Plus they are just annoying. :sad2:
