DDA Chapter 17

Here's the fleece hoodie I made Lizzy. I found the Pooh fleece as a remnant on Black Friday. Now it can be nice and warm when we go to Disney. My countdown is wrong. I only have 5 days. I never fixed it after I added a night with the 7 for 4 deal. I'm a bit :scared1: and a lot :yay: I'm so excited to be returning to the Poly!!!

love it

So my Uncle to be's brother died of an asthma attack which caused a heart attack. He was only 40. Plus my co-worker's Mom died from cancer.

In other news, I am the proud owner of round trip airfare to Florida for March 2-10. I figured you only live once. It was only a bit over $100. Had I convinced myself I did not need a checked bag, it would have been $30 less. Now to figure out other details. I also found out they have a kiosk at the mall I could have went to instead of dealing with going to the airport to avoid the online booking fee.

pixiedust: for your family and your moms co-workers family

:cheer2: for your trip

Hi all,

Thanks so much for virtually keeping me company tonight (although I'm fairly certain the majority of you are asleep at this hour)! I really needed to get my mind off of RL for a bit, and catching up on tens of pages of DDA chatter was refreshing. So, even though I didn't respond, thank you so much for being there, and a huge dose of :wizard: :grouphug: for all, particularly for all of those fighting sickness. And, a happy birthday to Glynis!

I'm sorry I've been away again for a few days. I was determined to get a lot of things done around the house before I left for FL, and my computer is still not fixed, so that ate up a lot of time shuttling it back and forth to the Geek Squad.

I got to Florida Wed. evening, and am here in my grandparent's old home with my parents. Unfortunately, today was not a good day for us. Jonathan called me this morning, and said the sales force in his division received a 20-second voice mail from their VP that they were to have an "office day" today, and wait by the phone for further direction - i.e., layoffs were beginning. This came out of left field (although some things have happened with a drug they were certain would be given FDA approval, and it seems indefinitely stalled at this point), and needless to say, it was a harrowing morning. I felt so bad that this was happening to Jonathan while I was 1300+ miles away, and could do nothing but offer support over the phone and get down on my knees and pray.

The good news - he was spared (although you certainly wonder if you should add the "for now" to that statement). Our hearts just break for all those that lost their job - they had almost 300 people in their sales division, and there are only 160 left - it affected all levels too, from managers on down - the field level managers had no clue either that this was going to happen. Of the 10 people that covered the DFW metro area, there are only 3 left - 2 others got reassigned to other sales divisions in the company, but 5 were let go.

The irony was not lost on us that it was 1 month to the date of my lay-off. I've never been a suspicious person, but I think I've decided I do not like the 22nd day of any month.

Here's hoping that the days ahead will be better for all - I'm beginning to wonder how much worse the economy can get, but I have a feeling we're about to find out. For now, I'm staying in FL, although I feel like I should go home. I know Jonathan doesn't want me to, but it doesn't feel right to stay here when all I want to do is give him a hug - I know that's all I wanted after my ordeal last month. We'll see how things go in the next day or so. At least the weekend is coming up - nothing bad can happen workwise then!

Thanks for listening, DDA, and I'll check in tomorrow. I hope everyone has restful nights' sleep.

DS is in a bit of a sticky situation. :guilty:
Apparently in PE some days the coaches play each other in one-on-one basketball while the kids watch. Apparently some of the kids have been betting on the games. They have been betting with the coaches, and money is changing hands. One of the asst. principals called DS down to the office today to ask him what goes on in PE. DS told him. (DS swears he has never bet on the games. We don't allow him to take money to school, but I suppose he could sneak it and we wouldn't know.)
After school DS was on his way to Band and the coaches stopped him and asked him why he got called to the office. They kept pressing him for more info and he told them he was being questioned about PE. :sad2:

I am going to call the asst. principal in the morning and see what is going on. He also needs to know that the coaches know DS tattled on them. :scared:
Good luck with that, Elizabeth. It doesn't sound fun. The coaches were wrong all the way around. PE is NOT supposed to be a spectator class.

I'm sorry you and Jonathan are going through this, Lindsay. Here's lots more pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for both of you.

Poor Gary.

Garrett should be fine in a suit coat and a nice shirt (maybe a tie too). I can't wait to see pics. :goodvibes

I planned on getting a tie, hmm now I will look for a coat. I am most worried about shoes, he only wears tennis shoes. He can wear Garys, but he only has a brown pair of dress shoes.

How many days does it take to do Cedar Point? What other things are around there to do?

Depending on the days of the week, I'd say two up to three days. There's a great campground called Bayshore right up the road that offers shuttles to Cedar Point, or you can camp onsite and get in up to an hour early which helps with the more popular roller coasters.

Your right up the road from Kelly's Island and Put in Bay; there's a drive thru wild animal park, and your 40 minutes from Toledo which has COSI.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I am however relieved that Jonathan was spared. :grouphug: :grouphug:

I would think a nice shirt and tie with dress pants would be suitable around here. I don't think many boys have suit coats these days.

This is what I as thinking! I will let Garrett decide if he really wants a coat.

We are taking a couple of days for Cedar Point. I am sure Chanon can help you out with the other things :thumbsup2

So are you thinking about June :teeth:

Thanks Chanon. We are totally debating and revamping our summer plans. The cost of tickets to Hershey Park are more than we expected, though still much less than WDW. By the time we bought tickets to Hershey and the NASCAR race it would be a pricey vacation. While we haven't totally decided not to do Hershey we want to see what other things are available to us.
