DDA Chapter 17

My daughter is on a trip changing rampage tonight. So far I have heard requests for 4 different hotels for next Feb. First it was the pirate room pictures, then Movies, then "Music again, but this this Rock and Roll" and finally "but we've never stayed in Sports before". I just can't seem to win the arguement that Pop is the best choice since she's "already stayed there". Guess we'll see first of all if we get to still go after getting the house this year, etc. Then, we'll hammer out the where!

Plus, I've got to do some more checking now. As much as I love on-site, we may need to look into a timeshare. My parents went to a "member update" meeting for RCI last week. It's really known as - free lunch, gas card and $50-100 incentive to drive 30 minutes and listen. Well, this time they were talked into an upgrade. The traded their Branson level 3 week (the still have another Branson level 1 week) for a new resort outside of Chigaco at a level 1 week. Plus, the through in adding me, Kristi and Erin to the contract for both weeks for free (about $1500 value). That means we can now use the timeshares without paying the guest fee. So, depending on the deals and our budget, we may consider doing the time share sometimes at just the trade fee. There's also a new(?) RCI relationship with DVC. Tough to get through, but maybe with the slower economy we'll have some change and easier if you're flexible on your dates. I can be extremely flexible so we'll have to do some major checking on that one.

It's definitely not going to be the most convenient, and - to be honest - I think there's a lot of whining without a lot of substance regarding car rental car seats. I venture to guess our experience with National would have been nothing but exemplary.... but this way once we get there we'll be able to load the seats as we already know how, after walking straight to the aisle, and get to the World quicker. The almost-$200 doesn't hurt, either! My biggest fear was that they wouldn't have the right seats available for some reason, or that it would take forever to get. No worries now!

Granted, one of the carseats we got was filthy, but I was desparate too. (We were supposed to train it from Boston to Rhode Island for a Wiggles concert. Got to the train station and a power failure somewhere along the way had the trains not running all afternoon. We had to get to the airport, rent a car and barely made it on time so there was no getting home for our carseat.) The other time, it was okay and I wan't concerned. I have had one occassion where I got the last carseat available, however I'm guessing Orlando is one place where they have plenty of seats available. That right there would be my biggest fear though...that big "what if".

Well, I still owe a Sept trip report and pictures, but at least I got some pictures up that I had promised! I had better head to bed though. I think sitting in this chair tonight is pushing my luck with my back. Better find some ibuprofen and hit the sack.

Tammi and Elin - I hope that your morning commutes aren't too terrible.

Good night all!

::yes:: Exactly!

Goodnight! :goodvibes

Anyone still up? I never sleep well when Kyle's on call, as you all have hear before ;), but I'm at a lull in planning motivation.

Here's the T I made for Lizzy to wear for our arrival at the Polynesian. She'll need a long sleeve T here and we arrive at MCO around 7:30pm so I think the long sleeves will be good. I just checked the long range forecast and some days are back up into the high 70's but one day is high 61 and a few lows in the low 40's. Looks like we'll be packing a little bit of everything.

So PJ's were never even on my to do list but I couldn't resist this fabric last week at JoAnn's for $2/yard. She was looking so pathetic yesterday that I had to make her these-hoping it would cheer her up.

And here is the dress I made for Halley's American Girl Doll but I was supposed to cut 2 skirt pieces instead of just one. I might try to make her another one and let Lizzy have this one.

Those are adorable! How do you go about cutting out the letters? Do you just copy a font onto the back of the material?

So good to see you, Kelli!!! Welcome back.
Hi Tia!:wave2:

Someone posted this on another Disney list. It's got to be the cutest nursery every!

That is cute!

Thank you for all the comments on the weight loss, the house, & Daniel.
Thankfully the Dr. said that Daniel's heart is fine!:cool1: He had an EKG & an Echo & all is good. The Cardiologist said that this type of pain on the left side is common in kids & that is growing pains & also by pinched nerves. Either way he is healthy.
Great news! :cheer2:

Here is my email response to my application:

It was great meeting you this morning. I definitely want to hire you for both lifeguarding and swim instruction. Right now we need to get you certified if you want to look at the Red Cross course offerings that would be the quickest way. Because you have not been certified in a while you would need to take the whole course. We will be offering it but not until end of March.

I guess I'd better make some phone calls.

Congrats, Deb!!:beach:

I'm here but fading fast and it's only 8:35 :rotfl:

Adorable pictures Tia. You look great. Terra is getting so grown. Adorable.:goodvibes

So sorry Elin and Tammi are going to be inconvienced tomorrow.:grouphug: I sure hope it is not as bad as you fear. If I didn't have to do payroll, I would be one of the people causing you problems. My friends from Miami are in DC. My friends from Philly are in DC. I wish I were there too!!:cheer2:

Jen, I'm glad you are taking your carseats. The two times I needed to rent one, they were absolutely disgusting. I would have died if my baby had put any of that fabric in their mouth. It was so worth us carrying the heavy FAA approved seat through the airport. So worth it.:grouphug: :grouphug:

Well, I'm going to bed. Nitey nite DDA.pixiedust:

I have decided, I think with some finality, that we will take our infant seats and gate-check them. We're getting this, as soon as I go to BRU and check whether both seats will fit (they should):

I figure we can have a backpack on each back, a baby on each front, a luggage cart (or worst case scenario just bumble through the airport with each of us holding the bag between us). It will be a major pain in the butt, but I saved $175 (:thumbsup2 ) by not renting carseats, plus we get to use Emerald Aisle that we're used to instead of Counter Service @ National, and we don't have to worry about getting grimy/broken seats.

IF DAY and MCO have luggage carts on both sides of security, I figure we'll spend less than $20 both directions and it shouldn't be too bad. If they don't, we'll look like doofuses throughout the airport but hopefully the girls will make up for us! ;)

I think that is a great idea. Do you have a little luggage rack that you can use to pull them through the airport? I think you can get them at Walmart and just bungy strap the seat bag to the cart. That way you are sure to have something to move them. We always used our double stroller to move the luggage etc and carried the kids :thumbsup2

Good Morning. Just a quick hello before I head off to teach music. If they only knew how horrible my singing voice is they would never have asked me to sub today :rotfl: It was a short night as I didn't fall asleep until 1:30 and I was up at 6 :scared: No time for a nap today either.

Stephanie... Please understand that today and all it brings is not an inconvenience. It is enervating and spectacular. But the scope of it is overwhelming at times, here so close to it all. I cannot begin to imagine it all... just amazing!

Good morning, DDA!

Tia, thank you for posting those here. I never got over to your link! You do look wonderful, and Terra is adorable as always! I love the picture of her taking a picture! :goodvibes

More great pics, Tia! I thought you had lost a lot of weight in the pics you posted yesterday! You look great! :goodvibes

Ewwww. Rental car seats! :scared: I have never rented baby equipment, but if the seats are anything like the cars I have rented I would definitely bring my own. Of course I am kind of funny about stuff like that to begin with.

Tammi & Elin - I hope the traffic isn't as bad as you fear! pixiedust:

DH and DS have gone off to get Dunkin' Donuts. :)

Princess has swimming lessons today. Her first time without a swim diaper! :cool1: They require TWO non-disposable swim diapers ont he kids if they are under age 3 (or if they are over 3 and not potty trained) so it will be much easier to get her dressed now! One of my friends has a charge swimming at the same time, so this session should be fun.

After swimming we are going to the mall to see about the "free cosmetics" thing. People on the budget board posted links to an article where the big dept. stores and the cosmetic companies have to settle some lawsuit by giving out free product starting today. :confused3 I need to go to the mall anyway to exchange some jeans for Princess, so we'll check it out. We need to grab a few things at Target (because we never went yesterday), I need to stop at the shoe repair place, I need to mail some stuff. Wow. We are going to be busy today! :rotfl2:

Anyone still up? I never sleep well when Kyle's on call, as you all have hear before ;), but I'm at a lull in planning motivation.

Can you sleep somewhere other than your bed okay with him gone? Or is the on call part? Kristi can't sleep well in their bed when Chris is gone, but she does okay if she sleeps on the couch.

Good Morning. Just a quick hello before I head off to teach music. If they only knew how horrible my singing voice is they would never have asked me to sub today :rotfl: It was a short night as I didn't fall asleep until 1:30 and I was up at 6 :scared: No time for a nap today either.

Hope it goes well today! Maybe you can discuss music and not have to sing too much. ;)

Tia love all the pictures you have posted & you do look wonderful :goodvibes

Tammi & Elin pixiedust: for the traffic today!

Jen :cool1: for another cruise!

Stephanie how exciting for your friends!

Deb hope you have fun at school today :music:

Elizabeth have fun at the mall & swim lessons!

The boys mini vacation is over, back to school today! Well Garrett at least, Riley has thrown up 3 times since he went to bed last night. I hate calling him out, but I don't want to send him in either.

The school probably will not be to happy, but what can you do :guilty:
