DDA Chapter 17

well, I hope you get the IT's pay too!!

What instrument does Kaelyn play?? Cassidy is getting ready to try out for Drum Major for her Senior year in High School....good heaven above, they do grow up fast.

She plays flute. She can't wait for marching band next year. Time is flying, isn't it?

Doesn't it usually come out in April or so? I want to use that angle to try to convince Craig. :rotfl:

I can't remember when they have been releasing free dining offers. I know the year we did free dining the dates for bounceback started about 3 weeks ahead of the general public free dining. Bounceback and UK resident free dining started like August 3, and general public started August 24 (or something like that).

We bought DVC last May, so I have stopped following the "codes and rates" threads. I might do a cash trip if there was some amazing offer, but the airfare is so high that even an amazing offer might not help that much! Besides, we have NEVER gotten any sort of PIN so I don't have much hope that we will ever get one. Our APs are expired so we weren't even in the running for that 40% off PIN.

Bernadette - We're going in May but not until the 23rd.

Bernadette - Apparently there is a $7500 tax credit for first time home buyers, BUT you have to pay it back over 15 years. There is speculation that they might decide you don't have to pay it back. We'll see. The mortgage guy said the credit (whether you have to repay it or not) is only valid until July 1. Our lease expires July 1, so it is another piece of the equation.
I have Joe's quarters all set to go in the mail. I will let you know when they are actually on the way. :)
Thanks again! No rush! If you did move wouldn't a late June closing work well so you'd have time to move out before 7/1?

This sounds like great news for DD, they had a closing date of Jan. 30th, but are still haggling about the cost, the seller has asked for another $2000.00, hopefully they will get all their ducks in a row, DSIL's Aunt is their realtor so I'm sure she'll look out for their best interest.
pixiedust: Good luck to DD!

Hi everyone! It's been a long time! I'll try to keep up but don't know how well I'll do ;)

Let's see, what's been going on. I'm still working at the church as bookkeeper. Our server crashed and we lost 2.5 years of data. Even the software company checked it out and what was supposed to be the most current info was only from 04, so at least the backup I had was from 06, so I've been working about 3/4 time and full time being Mom's taxi. Craig's still commuting about 100 miles a day and when the gas prices were so high, he started taking the bus which added on an additional 2.5 hours to his day so the girls hardly saw him at all. Now he's back to driving, so that's a good thing. Kaelyn is 14 and in 8th grade. She's involved in band and colorguard and her friends. She's somehow hurt her forearm and is currently in a sling. Stephanie is 7 and in 1st grade and involved in soccer, basketball and now maybe TaeKwonDo.

We went to DL last March because Craig had to take a class in Anaheim and his work paid for hotel and some of the gas. This year we're getting back a decent tax return and I wanted to go to WDW, since Craig & I didn't get to take the trip for our 15th anniversary last year, but Craig's being all practical saying we should pay off some bills. The real killer is the airfare!
:wave2: Hi!

Morning DDA! We are leaving for MI in a few hours. Detroit first, then over to Holland. Looks like it's snowing some in MI, but nothing we can't handle. Hopefully we'll have the Chicago weather on the way home. :teeth: Have a wonderful weekend!
Stay safe!

I didn't know Cassidy was trying out for Drum Major. Good luck to her! pixiedust:

Kelli - DS plays drums. We just started hemming and hawing about moving to a different neighborhood where DS would be in the zone to go to a high school with a really strong band and drum line. We'll see how it goes. The high school he would go to if we stay where we are does NOT have a strong band program at all. The middle school band director told DS he could be section leader in high school, but knowing how weak the high school band is, that isn't really a big compliment! :rotfl2:

We watched the Chrissa American Girl movie last night. We enjoyed it. I thought they way over simplified the "solution" but the message is a good one. I thought Jennifer Tilly was a good art teacher.

I've got lots of laundry to do today. Have to pack the Christmas stuff away. Have a few sewing projects I want to finish for our trip. Want to pull together our summer clothes. And I said I would be Cookie Mom for Lizzy's Girl Scout troop but this is the first year of the new council-they combined 3 so the dates are so different this year. I have to enter all the girls' orders into their database by Monday at 10pm but I have to do it on a Windows machine so I'll have to either get together with Lizzy's leader or go into my office to do it. Guess I better get off of here.

Bernadette - Yep. If we bought something and could close mid-to-late June that would be perfect. Especially since I am off work the first week of June. The tricky part is that stupid 60 day notice we have to give our apartment. I am afraid to turn in our notice and then discover we have no place to go! :scared:

I just called to see about scheduling a showing for that house. The realtor said she just leased it, and she was rude. OK, well, guess who I will NOT be calling for any future listings? How nice that in this economic climate this girl can afford to be RUDE to me, especially since we are in a position not just to lease, but to PURCHASE. Maybe I should shoot her an e-mail, just to make sure she understands the importance of good manners. ;)

that would be Cassidy's instrument also. Kaelyn will love marching band (though it might mess with an August trip....Cassidy's does)

Yikes!! Yes, I think an email be in order.

Hi Kelli. It has been way too long. I'm sorry that you've been dealing with computer issues. Some of us had issues with a nasty facebook virus. I had to restore our desktop to factory setting :scared: A trip to Disney would be wonderful, but we won't be going until 2010. We're saving our points and money ::yes::

Laundry is running and I have a bunch of little things on my agenda for the day. It is still cold here, but much warmer than it has been. We were at 11 degrees at 11 AM.

The boys had bowling this morning. Hunter and Colby bowled well, but Nick is in a slump. He hasn't bowled well in weeks. Thankfully it doesn't seem to bother him as his whole team is bowling poorly. I was talking with one of his friend's Mom. She is hoping to plan a WDW trip this year as she has Disney reward points on her VISA that will be expiring. She was thinking next month, but the airfare is prohibitive. They were asking about summer weather so that will probably be when they end up going. I tried to talk them into waiting until next year and going with us, but she has those expiring points.

Hi Kelli,,,good to see you. Keep coming when you can. Yes life does get in the way!!!

Hope Kaelyn heals quickly. Those kids do keep growing, don't they?

Hope you can still do WDW.

Happy Saturday, DDA!

Stay warm, everybody! I can't believe some of the temps a few of you were reporting! :cold:

Marci - loving your TR! Such great pics to go with it, too. I'm sorry you didn't get the perfect room at the GF - but hey, at least you were there, right? I hope you get to rest today, and kick that sinus infection once and for all! :wizard:

Elizabeth - wow - lots of excitement re: houses. Sounds like you're approaching things cautiously, which is certainly not a bad thing in this environment. If you guys do ever get serious about potentially buying, I can give you the contact info. for the realtor we used. He acts a lot as a "buyers agent", and he's great - he specializes in the Lake Highlands area (which is how we found him, since that's where we started looking for a house intiially), but can help you anywhere. He was wonderful, and has since helped a few of our friends buy houses, too.

Jennifer (bear) - I would imagine you guys are probably going to want to stay in Arlington, given that you're looking to do the baseball game and Six Flags. It will also put you prettty much in the middle of both zoos' locations, so you could pick which one (I'd probably give the nod to the Ft. Worth Zoo over Dallas). Check out this website: http://www.arlington.org/ to get some ideas of hotels nearby. A lot of the hotels in that area are a bit older, so I would keep that in mind. It looks like there is a brand new Hampton Inn & Suites that is closer to I-20 than I-30, but it might be worth being a few minutes further away to have nicer accomodations. I also agree with Marci's idea of an Embassy Suites. Let me know how I can help!

Tammi - yikes - 3 a.m. on Tuesday???!!!! I hope traffic won't be as bad as you fear.

Bernadette - when are you and Lizzy going to be at WDW? I'm going to be there from 1/26-1/28 with my parents - would like to say "hi" again if our dates overlap at all (but based on your ticker, I'm thinking I just miss you). Good luck with your to do list!

Vicki - I'm glad you made it home safely. I'm sorry you had to deal with such a jerk on the road. :grouphug:

Elin - glad to hear your paperwork all went smoothly, and that Kathrin is enjoying her job.

Chanon - safe travels today!

Kelly - it's great to see you! :goodvibes

Deb - congrats to Colby! I hope the furniture reconstruction goes well today - yay for having a day off.

Amy - loved seeing you "pop in" from your trip! I hope you guys continue to have a wonderful time!

Anne Marie - I hope the reshows go well!

Stephanie - have fun today, and the rest of your week ahead!

Tom - what beautiful clothes for a beautiful little girl. I hope you can get that window fixed quickly - that's scary!

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for anyone I unintentionally missed!

Random question - does anyone have a '09 AAA Diamond Parking Pass that I can buy/barter from you? (I realize it's pretty early in the year, and probably unlikely, but I'd rather buy one from a DDA member than eBay. :) )

Well, I need to get off the computer, and get started cleaning again. :crazy2:

I will be glad when everything is clean, though. :goodvibes

Catch you later, DDA!

:wave2: Hi, Kelli!

Chanon - I know I missed you but I hope you and Bob have a great weekend!

Bernadette - when are you and Lizzy going to be at WDW? I'm going to be there from 1/26-1/28 with my parents - would like to say "hi" again if our dates overlap at all (but based on your ticker, I'm thinking I just miss you). Good luck with your to do list!
Lizzy & I are going 1/27 to 2/3. Staying at the Poly. I would love to see you again! We have a 4pm flight on the 27th out of Boston so we won't arrive til late but would love to see you on the 28th if you can do that.

I had trouble changing a few ADR's last week and then read on the Dis that it was easier to get an ADR for 3 or 4 than for 2. I called back and asked for a party of 3 and I could get anything I wanted. SO.....I have an ADR for a party of 3 at 8:10 for Crystal Palace on the 28th. It would be wonderful if you could join us. MK opens at 9am on that morning.
