DDA Chapter 17

I just did something really stupid. :sad2: Our dog got my address book which had slipped off my computer desk and ran with it behind the couch, so I reached down to get it from her and she nipped at me. I think I scared her because that is highly unusual behavior for her. But she got me pretty good. I have abrasions and some bleeding and bruising. No punctures but it hurts and will be real pretty for my kids to look at over the next week or so!
Ouch. Make sure you clean it really good!

Old enough to start asking questions about where babies come from! :crazy2: I don't know how much longer I can deflect! Anyone have any suggestions?

The truth... but in small doses.

I think Nicholas is going to go around eating Doritos and hoping that girls' clothes fly off. He thought that was great.

Nick and Chris liked it too. Hunter and Colby didn't see it. Colby already eats more than enough Doritos anyway. They also like the doritos 3d one.

We always given them the truth with whatever they've asked. Of course I was pregnant with Colby when Nick was 6 and Hunter was 4 so we explained it all then (we knew it wouldn't gross them out at that point) and we've added details over time. I think they have the whole picture now. Of course they have health class at school so by 6th grade they've been given all the facts anyway. They learn about STDs and birth control methods as well as drugs in 8th grade. I heard them studying for a test a couple of weeks ago :crazy2:

Tammi - Does he know that babies grow inside the mother's body? Or is he asking how the baby gets there?

They know babies come out of a woman's belly, but I've just let them think that a doctor operates and cuts them out, since that is what happened with both of them. But lately he's getting curious of how one starts growing in there. We were talking about our neighbor being pregnant again, with number 6. Then he asked if you can chose how many kids you have, and how.

Yes, he knows they grow in her belly. He's starting to wonder how. See above post. ;)

Yes that makes sense for 6th and 8th grade, but I need to figure out how to put it in 3rd grade terms.

I don't think DS ever cared. :confused3
Of course now he knows the whole story, and my favorite way to make him feel guilty when he is being a snark is to tell him "I grew you in my womb and this is the thanks I get!" He hates that. ;)

I guess I should clarify that I never intended to tell him anything else other than the truth. The suggestions that I'm looking for are how to put things in 3rd grade terms.

There should be a book about "Where Do Babies Come From" that you could read with him. I know as far as sex ed for boys it is rough - the books are way too graphic or way too babyish. But you could probably Google and come up with something.

What about the fact that there are eggs in a woman and when one grows inside it becomes a baby? Would that be enough for now?

Probably. I like that. It's scientific instead of s exual. I'll have to work with it. Thanks!

Yeah, I'm going to have to look at different books. Lord knows I'm not leaving it up to his dad. :sad2:

So Cassidy just came by....to change shoes and get her id. Her boyfriend forgot the corsage....silly boy, he's the one who asked Cassidy last week what color to get.:upsidedow

Should be interesting to hear about the dance...tomorrow. Abi and I are going to finish A Night at the Museum and go nighty night!
