So I am at the grocery store with a loaded shopping cart & I get a call from Katie;s school nurse. She threw up in class. Poor baby...I ran out of the store & got her. She is so pale. She got sick in the car coming home too. :sad2: She's trying to nap in her room now.

oh poor Katie:wizard: sickies be gone
:wizard: :wizard: that the rest of you don't get it

Oh my good gracious all the poor DDA kiddos who are sick!!:grouphug: May they get better quickly! and not share with their family

They are dropping like flies, aren't they? :scared1:
I hope Katie feels better soon! :wizard:

Wow, another one bites the dust.

I notice that it has only been one kid per family. I'm really hoping that the rest don't get it on Christmas :wizard:  :grouphug:

My Dad just came down to shovel his camper off. Nick volunteered to go shovel ours off  It will be good for him to spend time working with his Papa and Papa will be so proud of him. My Dad thinks that Nick is Lazy so this is a great suprise for us all :cool1:

We're doing Glynis' French Toast Bake. She sent me this recipe yesterday. I'm substituting bananas for the peaches (I'm thinking tonga toast). I'll also do one without fruit. Here is the recipe

Peach French Toast

1 C. packed brown sugar
1/2 C. butter or margarine
2 Tbs. water
1 pkg. frozen peaches
1 loaf thick sliced bread
5 eggs
1 1/2 C. milk
1 Tbs. vanilla
Ground cinnamon

In a saucepan, bring brown sugar, butter and water to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Pour into a greased 9 X 13 inch baking dish, top with the peaches. Arrange bread over peaches. In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla; slowly pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight. Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Uncover; bake 25-30 minutes longer until the bread is golden brown.

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting this! I did a French Toast bake a few years ago (without the fruit) and it was terrible. I'll be trying this one for Christmas morning as well - with bananas too because they were on sale this week.

ETA: Do you think going from frozen fruit to non frozen fruit will change the recipe a lot?

Goodness, the sickies are going around, aren't they?!

I hope Katie and Colby are doing better. Nicholas was getting cabin fever and wanted to go to daycare. School is out here but daycare is still open, so I took him over to hang out with his friends. It's and extra $10 a day if he is there all day instead of before/after. That's a cheap fun day if you ask me!

Alyssa and I are just hanging out and watching tv.

The french toast sounds good. Maybe I'll make that too.

Stephanie may I have your email address? I want to send you a Christmas card and the only DDA info I have now is the new list that Jennifer (tink) has compiled.

Thank you. :)

How many Bananas are you going to use?

Woo its 1º with winds gusting up to 40 mph. I am freezing, as I had to go outside a few times today.

Hope Katie feels better soon. :wizard:

I am thinking the Norwalk virus is to blame. It has hit big time down in Disney.

Janet I am so sorry, I forgot you this morning.

:wizard: that you have your water back now and if not that it returns soon. :wizard:

So what do you all recomend for us that don't like french toast bake?

I think Jeff is going to do scrambled eggs and bacon. As Olivia did not like the french toast bake last year. besides I have to work. We are going to do Christmas here Wed morning. I think we will probably do eggs and bacon then as well

I found quite a few recipes with 4 ripe bananas and a 20 oz bag of frozen strawberries. I don't want strawberries in it. I think I will probaly use regular bread instead of thick bread and put sliced bananas between 2 slices of bread to create the thickness. We will certainly have homemade maple syrup on top. I'll use how ever many bananas it takes to cover the entire first layer of bread.

The campers are all shoveled off. Chris just came home. I think we are going to take a well deserved nap then head out to shovel off the roof of the house.

Colby seems to be doing well. We are sticking to clear fluids, but I did let him eat a sandwich. He doesn't like soup or bland things so we are trying the sandwich. So far so good. Fingers crossed.

This is our favorite recipe...the french toast loaf from WDW Main St. Bakery

I am making in Christmas morning

Ingredients:

12 slices day-old white bread (preferably a homestyle white, not Wonder Bread
type)

8 oz. butter (chilled and sliced)

Brown sugar batch:
9 oz, light brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and set aside.
Batter:
10 oz. heavy cream
4 large eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and refrigerate until ready to use.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Method:

Liberally spray a loaf pan with Pam or other vegetable spray. Layer three slices day old bread on bottom of pan. Sprinkle 1/3 brown sugar mixture on top of bread, then layer 1/3 of the butter. Repeat these steps two more times. Top off with three more slices of bread (should have a total of 12 slices of bread). Press down with hand to compact bread into loaf pan.

Slowly pour 16 oz. of batter over top of loaf, covering completely. This may take a little time, to allow it to fully absorb into bread and flow into spaces at bottom. (Take
your time here and pour into corners. Lift bread at corners a little to get into bottom quicker if you want.)

Place loaf pan on some paper towel in case of overflow. Cover top of loaf with parchment paper and wrap top tightly with aluminum foil. Place in refrigerator and allow to sit overnight.
Heat oven to 325º F. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until internal temperature in center of loaf is 160 degrees. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Place a plate on top of loaf pan and invert to remove from pan. Cut into 7 slices and serve.
