Finally! The day of the trip was here. Of course, my flight wasn’t leaving til 4:25 and I still had to teach, but at least it was here. It was the longest day of teaching and it was only a half day! I headed home, hopped in my dad’s car and we were off to the airport. I knew it was the “busiest travel day” and we wanted to be sure we had plenty of time. Turns out, we had nothing to worry about and had plenty of time until our flight, once we got checked in and through security. We grabbed lunch and a drink to celebrate the start of what would become, the best thanksgiving ever!
Our flight was uneventful, and we landed in Dallas around 7:00. Our luggage was out before we even got to baggage claim--it was amazing! We had booked our trip with Expedia and had a shuttle that was picking us up at the airport. It was HORRIBLE! It was a shared ride, but our driver drove around for 20 minutes and turns out, he picked up his daughter! Then he tried dropping 2 other people in our shuttle off at the wrong hotel and told them that they just changed the name. It was crazy. Needless to say, we cancelled our ride for the way home and was able to get a refund.
We checked into the Adolphus hotel in Downtown Dallas and it was beautiful. Everyone was nice and our room was gorgeous with a view of a decorated christmas tree in the square below.
By this time, it was getting late so dad and I grabbed a drink in the hotel bar and asked what was around for food. We decided to go to “Ten Bar” which was around the corner from our hotel. It was fun. We grabbed drinks and dinner and sat and listened to “off key karaoke” which was hysterical. After a bit, we headed to bed….we were both exhausted
