DDA Chapter 15

Deb - Please tell Chris I am sorry he has to deal with that! And I am sorry you have to stand by while he deals with it. DH is in your same shoes.

Mom didn't call me on my birthday. I finally got worried and called her about 6 PM when we were on our way to dinner, and then she said "Happy Birthday". A few years ago she was trying to plan a trip to visit her sister (before she moved up there). She made some sort of really ugly comment about how she couldn't go over my birthday, and how that was such an inconvenience. I never said she couldn't be gone on my birthday. :confused3 It's not like she ever even remembers to call me on my birthday, so what difference would it make if she was out of town? She doesn't call DH on his birthday, she called the day AFTER our anniversary, she just seems really put out by things like that. The same way she seems put out by me asking her to visit with DS when she comes to town. She acts like it is just really inconvenient for her to work him in when she is SOOO busy with Ms. Selfish and Diva. She gives a big sigh and says she "guesses" she can see him, or she "will see" if she has time to see him.
So starting yesterday I have a new policy - no expectations, no disappointments.

Just a pop in to say that I am waiting for my dad to get here and take me to the ER. I sliced the top of my left thumb almost completely off. Gail came over to bandage me up. Eric just walked in to take over kid duty.

I am guessing I didn't want Joe to out do me!! :rolleyes1

I'll check in a bit later

Kristine- Many, many 's to you and your family today.

:scared1: Robyn I hope you heel fast:wizard: . Now is not the time to injure yourself.

OUCH! I can almost feel your pain and it's making me wince. Hope you ER visit goes quickly!

Coinstar charges a fee if you want the cash, but you can exchange your change for a gift card or ecertificate to many stores (we picked Disney Shopping) without a penalty. You can look up store locations and gift card choices on their website.

Thanks for the info! My bank said they would take rolled coins, but I'd much rather take them to a machine someplace. My kids get so little playtime because of my work, the commute, and so much homework, that I'd rather them do their regular chores and not add too many to them.

My doctor's office didn't have any appointments yesterday, so I made one for 3:00 p.m. today. Of course, now, my head doesn't hurt that bad, but I'm still going.

Noah only slept for three hours last night (7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.), followed by over an hour of screaming. That was with a dose of Tylenol. I wish I could get inside his head! :guilty:

We're going to get our family Christmas portrait taken at JCPenney tomorrow. Can someone please tell the zit on my chin to go away?! :)

Hope everyone has a great Friday! :wave2:

Away zit! I hope you are feeling better and the doctor can help. Just because your head wasn't killing you at the exact moment you were typing, doesn't mean it won't start back again, so it's better to go and have it checked out, says Dr. Marci. :rotfl:

Sorry to say this, but GROSS! Oh my -- I hope you are seen quickly and that they are able to stitch you back without problems. That is terrible. I guess the only good thing is you won't have to cook for a while. :rolleyes1

Best Buy is much more expensive.

:cool1: :cool1: I'm Jealous:cool1:

I've been looking at that ornament myself. I've also been thinking about the Tinkerbell tree topper. Love It:thumbsup2

What's up with your shoulder? I have one that bother's me quite often. I've discovered that if I sleep on my side with that shoulder up and use a pillow to prop it up, I will not have problems then next day, but if I don't, I'm in a lot of pain :confused3

Several branches of our bank will roll the coins for us. We drop it off and they have 24 hours to count it and deposit it into the kid's accounts.

Both are fine :thumbsup2 Who has the best coupons;)

  I think Chris is quickly coming to that realization himself. His mother was released from the hospital yesterday and has managed to get a doctor's note for 3 weeks off. Everytime he tries to extend the olive branch she chops down the tree. He invited to over for Thanksgiving, but she'd rather got to his sister's, boyfriend's, mother's house. When she called to say she was in the ER the other day she never even wished him a Happy Birthday (that really bothered him). Every communication is about her, what she needs, what she thinks etc. He has bought an older car for her (supposedly she is paying for it  ), but it needs a bunch of work done. Chris has been working 6 days a week and cannot get into the shop on Sunday to work on it, but she is hounding him to get it done. You get the picture. Once she gets the car I bet it will be months before we hear from her unless of course she needs something:mad:

Yikes, that made my stomach turn :scared: I hope it can be repaired quickly and as painlessly as possible. I suspect that between lack of sleep and worry your mind wasn't where it should be

Sorry about Chris's mom. That just really stinks. :grouphug:

We're really not sure what happened with my shoulder. It may have started from the extravagant purse my boss gave me for Christmas (that was very heavy, along with my computer bag over my shoulder) and which I'd like to try to sell... It's my rotator cuff, and I went through weeks of therapy, have taken a steroid shot, am taking celebrex, and should buy stock in the companies that offer the icy/hot type patches. The pain comes and goes, and the MRI showed bursitis, tendonitis etc. but no tear. The doc offered to scope it and see if he could help but with nothing definite to "fix" I don't want to take that gamble right now. I'm just too busy at work. I've decided that I will have it done if it's still bothering me in February.

Elizabeth -- I'm so sorry about the problems with your Mom. I've lived it and it's hard to step away. I hope you can come to some sort of peace with your relationship.

Cut
For Susan O'Neill Roe

What a thrill ----
My thumb instead of an onion.
The top quite gone
Except for a sort of a hinge

Of skin,
A flap like a hat,
Dead white.
Then that red plush.

Little pilgrim,
The Indian's axed your scalp.
Your turkey wattle
Carpet rolls

Straight from the heart.
I step on it,
Clutching my bottle
Of pink fizz. A celebration, this is.
Out of a gap
A million soldiers run,
Redcoats, every one. Whose side are they on?
O my
Homunculus, I am ill.
I have taken a pill to kill

The thin
Papery feeling.
Saboteur,
Kamikaze man ---

The stain on your
Gauze Ku Klux Klan
Babushka
Darkens and tarnishes and when
The balled
Pulp of your heart
Confronts its small
Mill of silence

How you jump----
Trepanned veteran,
Dirty girl,
Thumb stump.

Robyn, a bit of Plath in honor of your injury!
I know everyone is utterly shocked that I am a HUGE Sylvia Plath fan. :rolleyes1

Elizabeth, stay away from the oven! ;)

Robyn, ouch! I hope it's an uneventful trip to the ER.

Marci, ouch for your shoulder, too. I hope you can make it though the holidays without too much pain.

Anne-Marie, thanks for the empathy.

Death by oven fumes would NOT be my first choice. ;)

Off to work... have great afternoons, friends! :goodvibes

I was just getting to leave my DDIL's house last night and my phone rings with my Soaring ringtone and I let it play---- then I answered it and it was Stephanie and she was over the moon. Her Mouse Fest package had arrived. I promised to drive home safely so I could see if my Mouse Fest package had arrived.

Then my DDIL proceeded to tell me that the Golden my son had had for twelve years and then gave up for adoption two years ago was going downhill very fast and the couple that have him made the decision to put him down on Monday. The year Howie gave him up it seemed Jake had been growling a lot at their two sons and there was concern he could bite and he was already having pain from his arthritis and could not do stairs so that was why he had been adopted. Now, he can hardly walk and is in pain all of the time and is peeing in the house. Needless to say, when I got home I was not really in the mood to look at my package that my darling hubby had placed right on my computer. I will look at it this weekend. It really hit home with our cats all being 14 years old too. Especially Cobain, he is now at 7 and a half pounds which is half what he weighed 2 years ago. He seems okay but you can tell he is moving a lot slower. He almost looks like a skeletin with a fur coat.

I am back with 2 stitches in my thumb. Once all the bleeding stopped it wasn't as bad as I first thought but I did do some damage. Total ER time was 2 hours, which is really fast. It doesn't hurt too bad right now but I am sure it will be later.

Thanks for all the well wishes for both Joe and I. I talked to him when I was waiting and he says he feels much better now.
