checking in real quick....we are heading to our friends funeral soon....

the wake was horrendous. Christoper cried for an hour straight and the only person who could sort of calm him down was Bill. I am hoping the funeral won't be as bad since he won't have the initial shock of seeing her for the first time.

In talking with the family....apparently she died to a medical mistake....making the situation even sadder!

Other than that, Jonathan is home...his car is on the fritz...hoping for a not too expensive repair....

Oh....and apparently Bill's mother is having some issues...not good ones either.

Damn...aren't I a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day!!
Man, sounds like your whole family needs :hug:s and :wizard:s.

I just got a call from the furniture store that Nicholas' furniture is in. Unfortunately the earliest they can deliver is the 29th. Being's that the place is only 2 miles from my house, I am so going to want to stop and pick things up. I know I can get at least the nightstand, chest and headboard in the van. Not so sure I want to mess with the triple dresser though.

Everyone's trips are coming up so soon!!

Heidi - I have McAfee on all our computers... it comes with our internet service. If I remember correctly I had to turn off the firewall and use the one that comes with Windows instead.

Robyn - I wish you were able to sleep more. And I hope Joe will be OK!

No you aren't!

You say that buy you don't mean it, because she is your mother, and you love her.

I do hope, for Mr. Genius' sake, that she comes for a visit. :wizard:

No, I do mean it. She is so determined to never listen to anything I say that she is jeopardizing her recovery. If I say not to carry heavy things with her arm then that means she must immediately carry anything heavy she can find with that arm to avoid complying with what I said. In some ways she is like Glynis's MIL - I think her maturity level was permanently stunted by too many years with the Ogre so her logic is completely irrational. I have hit some sort of a wall because I am quite certain I am finished. She has drained whatever life force I had right out of me.

Maybe I will tell DS she decided not to drive down. Then his feelings won't be hurt and she won't be inconvenienced by having to work him into her schedule.

Do any of the grocery stores have those change counter machines that don't charge a fee? Andrew and Jake both have a lot of change, but I don't want to take the time to roll it. If I can't find a free machine, then I guess I'll just have them roll it.

Our bank does this for no fee. They don't want you to roll the coins.

Sounds like your little corner of the world needs a great big :grouphug:

You would think that would be a reasonable time line, wouldn't you? :rotfl2: I open the drawer where I think they might be every day, I just can't seem to remember to look for the Box Tops. :rolleyes1 I almost forgot to make lunch for DS this morning. I think I am working too much and it's making my brain fuzzy.

Speaking of work, DH has to work on Thanksgiving. :guilty: He is off Friday and Saturday, so I guess if the spirit moved me I could go shopping on Black Friday. He has NEVER had that day off before.

I'm totally with you there! I've had a total fuzzy brain all week. Just too much going on and my brain is fried because of it.

does anyone's kids play Club Penguin?

Kirsten came home to a package...apparently she one 1 of only 1000 Viking Penguins that they were giving away....I may send her out for a lottery ticket

How cool! Terra plays Club Penguin pretty regularly, but only the free version. Toys R Us just came out with some toys from it so I think she may get a couple of penguins in her stocking.

Tia I hope you are feeling better today :wizard:

I was, thank you all for asking. It was a better day and the following one was back to normal (save the fuzzy brain stuff). Terra was a little out of sorts yesterday though, but I think it has passed for her as well.

Wow! Some pretty lady pictures posted!:goodvibes

I just read something that made my day.
I participate in the Make a Wish Big Give. I made a Christmas set for a little girl and her Mom loved it. I was moved to tears.
She posted it in her trip report here.

Tom - I absolutely love these!!! The second family's were cute too. You do such wonderful things with your talent, but the creations themselves and the generosity shown with them. :cloud9:

Sophie had a half day so we had lunch at Friendly's, Everyone else from her school had the idea so it was packed. They had no idea about the school schedule so there wasn't enough staff & people we standing at the kitchen door complaining. It was a good learning lesson for Sophie on patience. We must have had good karma for not complaining because we got our food before some who came in before us. No ice cream though as we were there for almost 2 hours! I felt so bad for the lady who was serving the whole place. She was in her 60's-70's & people were not nice to her. I used to waitress so I have alot of respect for that job.

Anyway! I have to go find something for dinner for the kids..I am stuffed.

We had the same issue last night at Maggie Moos ice cream. Rachel did costumes for their school play (Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr - sooo cute!) and the whole group went for ice cream afterward. I was about the 10th person in the door and the poor kid behind the counter was the only one there. One of the mom's gave him a heads up of the 50-75 people to come and after a paniced look he made a call. The owners showed up about 15 minutes later and the handled the crowd wonderfully. Mostly, I was impressed with the kids (and parents!) and how patient they all were.

I hate to post and run but I've got to get ready for Scouts.'s and :wizard: all around.

Lucy is doing much better. She is back to normal for the most part. Mo has come down with a horrible cold and is cranky but did manage to nap for me. All of the boys are fighting colds too. Yuck, I am sick of this already.

I'm so glad Lucy is feeling better. I hope Mo's cold is gone soon as well.

Well, apparently you can now apply by phone too. Kathrin was finally able to get through the line in person this afternoon. It will take 2-4 weeks for her first check to arrive, but they will be retroactive. They also think she is due some assistance for her health insurance. That is new to me.

I'm so glad she got through! My BIL had a terrible time getting things set up in CA when he lost his job in late Jan. When I talked to him in late Feb he was still fighting to get it all taken care of.

I was at an hour+ interview...then hightailed it to Abi's band concert. She was a minute late.

Sounds promising! I hope it went well.

SINGLE DIGITS!!
:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

Woohoo!!!!!

I hate coats. I almost never wear a coat. As others have said, "You know it's really cold when Beth has a coat on." Today I let Laura go to school in several layers, but she wasn't wearing an actual coat. But she goes straight from someone's car into school. She rides the bus home but doesn't have too long a walk from the bus stop. Matthew also did not wear a coat. He had a couple of layers, too, but the outer layer was a heavy sweatshirt. Guess i'm not winning "Mother of the Year" again, huh? Miles will have a coat, gloves, and a hat, though.

Mom's had that struggle too. Not so much making Rachel wear a coat, but finding a way to keep her warm without a big coat. The 7th grade lockers are so narrow that a big coat doesn't fit in them.

Lots of :grouphug: for you all today!

Just wondering Tom, or anyone else that could enlighten me......are these families on Make a Wish trips?

Yeah, they are the families going on Make a Wish trips to WDW.

Just a pop in to say that I am waiting for my dad to get here and take me to the ER. I sliced the top of my left thumb almost completely off. Gail came over to bandage me up. Eric just walked in to take over kid duty.

I am guessing I didn't want Joe to out do me!! :rolleyes1

I'll check in a bit later

Kristine- Many, many 's to you and your family today.

I was working returns at Target on Christmas Eve and a lady returned one an hour or so before closing. She said that she wanted to bring back the duplicate right away so she could try to make someone's Christmas. I waited until just before closing planning to give it to any customer who happened to ask (we'd had several ask throughout the day already), but no one did. So, I bought it and snuck it under the tree for myself. I loved that thing! (And yes, I'm a nut. )

12. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I can't really think of one as my family has always been really good about picking the perfect gift.

Ack!!!! Good luck at the ER. I hope they can get you in quickly. :grouphug:

Good morning/afternoon, DDA! Now that i'm finally caught up again I guess I'd better get to work. For some reason the dining room doesn't seem to be cleaning itself this week so I guess I've got to get busy. Apparently, we can't eat Thanksgiving dinner on the floor in the living room plus we have extra company coming. Guess I'd better get to it.

have you looked at Best Buy's website? That's where I found the girls pink one.

Best Buy is much more expensive.

SINGLE DIGITS!!
:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

:cool1: :cool1: I'm Jealous:cool1:

Since Tammi needs new camera batteries, here is the ornament I gave her.
http://disneyshopping.go.com/disney...sonalized-2008-Sorcerer-Mickey-Mouse-Ornament

I've been looking at that ornament myself. I've also been thinking about the Tinkerbell tree topper. Love It:thumbsup2

I'm glad she was able to get through. Randy could do everything on-line here in Texas.

Sending more prayers for the job!

Robyn -- I'm so sorry. I know he has lots of friends here, but I'd be happy to help with anything. Is there anything you can think of he needs?

My carpets are being cleaned today. Yahoo! If the carpet is dry enough to walk on tonight, I might start decorating a little. My shoulder bothers me so much that I don't think I'll get much done this year. Jake loves helping, so I may give him some incentive to do more with me.

Have a great day everyone!

What's up with your shoulder? I have one that bother's me quite often. I've discovered that if I sleep on my side with that shoulder up and use a pillow to prop it up, I will not have problems then next day, but if I don't, I'm in a lot of pain :confused3

Do any of the grocery stores have those change counter machines that don't charge a fee? Andrew and Jake both have a lot of change, but I don't want to take the time to roll it. If I can't find a free machine, then I guess I'll just have them roll it.

Also, has anyone played the Wii game Animal Crossing: City Folk or know anything about it? My 7-year-old niece is asking for it, and my SIL isn't too sure if it's worth the money and appropriate for her daughter. Any advice/thoughts?

Several branches of our bank will roll the coins for us. We drop it off and they have 24 hours to count it and deposit it into the kid's accounts.

Sophie wants Stylin Studio for Christmas. They have it on Amazon & on Toys R Us for $50..both free shipping. Anyone suggest what would be the better choice to order from or it doesn't matter?

Both are fine :thumbsup2 Who has the best coupons;)

I am glad your DD recognizes you did things properly! :thumbsup2

I don't think I am going to get to be friends with my mom. I decided yesterday that I am finished arguing with her. She can do whatever she wants, and I am not going to hound her. She does whatever she wants anyway. She doesn't want or appreciate my advice, so there is no point beating my head on the wall trying to get her to listen. I'm done. Either she will get better or she won't, it's not something I have any control over. I will still call and ask her how she's doing, but if she says she feels like crap my response will be "I hope you feel better soon."

If she chooses to come see DS next week, great. If she blows him off in favor of my sister's kids, great. We should be used to that by now anyway.

  I think Chris is quickly coming to that realization himself. His mother was released from the hospital yesterday and has managed to get a doctor's note for 3 weeks off. Everytime he tries to extend the olive branch she chops down the tree. He invited to over for Thanksgiving, but she'd rather got to his sister's, boyfriend's, mother's house. When she called to say she was in the ER the other day she never even wished him a Happy Birthday (that really bothered him). Every communication is about her, what she needs, what she thinks etc. He has bought an older car for her (supposedly she is paying for it  ), but it needs a bunch of work done. Chris has been working 6 days a week and cannot get into the shop on Sunday to work on it, but she is hounding him to get it done. You get the picture. Once she gets the car I bet it will be months before we hear from her unless of course she needs something:mad:

Yikes, that made my stomach turn :scared: I hope it can be repaired quickly and as painlessly as possible. I suspect that between lack of sleep and worry your mind wasn't where it should be

I finished my week at school. The 22 turkeys are made and the table clothes are at least partially colored. The teacher was happy to have the extra help today. She is a very sweet teacher and I'm happy that Colby was placed in her room. He will stay with her through 2nd grade. I am working tonight. I think Colby and I are going to take a nap now :confused3 I was up during the night with him as his feet were bothering him. It seems I'm either up with a kid, cat or snoring husband every night these days:headache: Oh well, soon I will probably be working through the night and only taking naps so I might as well get used to it. I was hoping the PO would call today, but so far no calls :confused3

Good morning...

So at 2:30ish I got a phone from a friend of Joe's that he is in the hospital with appendicitis. I had talked to him earlier in the evening and he had said he wasn't feeling so great. At least I wasn't asleep. I fell asleep around 9:30 and was wide awake by 12:30am and that was with some sleep meds. I hate this :headache:

Tammi- :yay: :yay: :yay: for single digits!!!

:wizard: for Joe, I hope they caught it before it burst.
Sorry you re having problems sleeping.
