Could someone PLEASE explain to me one good reason for this stupid Electoral College? Why can we not elect a president on popular vote? It works for American Idol.

I was actually going to ask this..We were just talking about this at my house

Well, back in the day when there was no radio, no TV and no internet the stupid electoral college served a purpose. Now it is antiquated and silly.

It' seems like we'd get more voters that way! Emma keeps asking us to explain it to her and no matter how many time I read up on it, it makes no sense!

i completely agree with you guys..its like the states with 3 electoral votes just barely count...then theres some with alot more --its annoying!

As for a group dinner, we're open. No one in my family is picky so I'll let you pros make the decision.

and i must sleep...im leaving to teach at my regular time..mom is dropping me off at work and picking me up as soon as the kids leave...we will then rush to the airport and try to make my 6:10 flight! i will have my computer so ill probably be on! have a great night

They had a school-wide vote on Monday at our school, and McCain won, so my kids are getting a really good experience on this election, but I don't think they've grasped the concept of the EC. And I haven't brought it up because it would just confuse them more.

Our school voted too. I think McCain won here too. Emma goes around telling everyone and anyone who'll listen to vote for him. It's so interesting to get their take on things.

My girlfriend's DS is in Kindergarten and he came out and told his mom that he voted for Obama. She was a tad bit shocked when he told her why- "Well he has brown cheeks like Mr. Mike!!" He's a dad at the school who is black

Maryland is definitely a Blue state but our county is and seems to always vote Red. There is maybe 2 Obama signs in our neighborhood.

OK, so for group dinner we probably want a buffet. I was not impressed with H&V when we went there. I felt like Cape May had better food and handled our group more effectively. I am cool with whatever. I don't think Crystal Palace is configured to handle big groups very well, and neither is 1900 PF. Obviously we have time to hash this out before I turn in my request to IPO.

I took a History class in college where the professor explained the electoral college in detail because it was an election year. It must have been in 2000. Back then I understood, but I have forgotten most of the finer points now.

I spent hours on the phone today...apparently fed ex is trying to charge $1300 on my credit card. The CC rejected it (thankfully) thinking it was fraudulent. I think someone stole my shipping account number
