DDA Chapter 14

I'll try to type another installment of our trip report. We'll see how far I get.

Day 2.

We woke up early and got repacked. Chris and I decided to take the mugs for drinks while the kids finished getting ready. I also wanted to swing by the front desk since our express departure documents were not on the doorknob. We went in and had them print the statement. I also enquired as to whether Mickey or another character could call Hunter to wish him a happy birthday. While the CM was looking into why he hadn't gotten a call or card another CM struck up a conversation with us. There was no one else in the lobby so everyone was very willing to talk. She asked us how our stay had been and told her that everything was wonderful with the exception of our visit to T-Rex. She agreed that pagers would be very beneficial and that she would pass that on. At that point we were happy that at least someone had heard our concerns. She then insisted that she talk with her manager to see if they could do anything for us. We told her that it wasn't necessary as we knew that being new there were still bugs to work out. She still insisted. She disappeared for a short while. When she came back she said that they couldn't do anything about our charges last night, but they would like us to have breakfast on them. We had just planned on a box of donuts. We explained that we were planning on heading out to Vero Beach soon, but she insisted that we take the time to have breakfast at Olivia's. They gave us a $75 credit to cover breakfast. The first CM then returned with a signed photo of Mickey for Hunter. She wasn't sure why he hadn't had one in the room. We were very pleased with the gesture and amazed by the breakfast offer. Chris and I walked back to our villa. We loaded the mini van then we all walked to Olivia's for a very nice breakfast. All 6 of us ate and there was still a very nice tip for the waitress :thumbsup2

After breakfast we went out and took a few photos by the pool then went to the car and headed out. It took us a couple of hours to get to Vero Beach, but it was on roads that we had never travelled before. We saw lots of orange groves, wetland and communities of varying wealth. We were very amazed at how poverty level homes with mixed in communities of obvious wealth. That isn't something we see around here. Jill, our GPS voice, brought us right to the gates of Vero Beach with no trouble at all. The Resort is lovely. Check in was super easy and within minutes we were heading off to our already ready villa. We parked in the parking garage below our building, building 12. We brought our luggage in and settled in a bit. Soon we decided to explore the resort a bit. We found that we were n the building right next to the Inn. It was a very short walk to the restaurants, store, pool and recreations areas as well as the beach. We all had our swimsuits on. We decided to check out the beach first. I was suprised the we need our room keys to enter the beach and also to exit the beach. I guess that is how they keep it exclusive to disney.

After exploring the beach and collecting a ton of shells, a sea sponge and various rocks, we headed up to the pool.

As we got the the pool we found out that they were wrapping up a waterslide race. Each person got 2 opportunities to go downt he slide and they timed each run. As I said we got there at the tail end, but we each got one run in before it ended. Oddly enough I took first place for the adult women and received a blue ribbon.

We decided to go back to the villa to change and take a break. I stopped by the store on my way back. These are a few photos of the lobby area and store.

Once I got back to the room I decided I should use our downtime to was all the shells and get them packaged to take with us  That took way too long, but the weight was greatly reduced once I got rid of the sand.

the porch light is turned off and Abi and I are moving to my room for a movie (non-scary since we don't we have those). See you all in November!!

We made reservations for dinner while we were at the pool. It turned out that they were unnecessary as the restaurant was not at all crowded. The food was good though I don't remember what we ate. We are so NOT foodies :lmao: After dinner we walked out to the beach deck, but it was way too dark to see anything. We decided to call it a night since we needed to get up early to make the drive to Miami. It did take a while for everyone to settle down. I did another load of laundry. Everything was clean when we left Vero Beach :thumbsup2 :laundy:

And thus ends day 2

ETA: I forgot to mention that when we came back from dinner there was a stuffed Donald Duck, and signed picture of Goofy and Max along with a Donald Pin. Those were all for Hunter. I had his birthday noted on our reservation. When we checked in I mentioned that my son would go nuts over the CMs lanyard. It was all Donald Ducks. Of course I did not take any pins so we couldn't trade. The CM must have thought I was referring to Hunter when I mentioned the Donald crazy kid

Deb - Vero Beach sounds and looks really nice. Would you vacation there again, for a longer period of time?

Tammi & Deb love your Halloween pictures!

Elizabeth glad ds had a good time!

I forgot to mention that I voted yesterday, so that is out of the way. It took me about 15 minutes, which surprised me. I stopped on my way home from work, around 3:30, and was expecting a long line. I must have just missed the crowd because after I got there lots of people were coming in.

Deb I am enjoying your TR, look forward to more :thumbsup2

You know, I had thought earlier today how fun it would be to drive the kids over to knock on your door. But the thought left my head just as quickly as it entered.

You should have!! Except that I wasn't there. ;) Bob would have enjoyed seeing some little ones I think.

I was at Kybecca with the adult Trick or Treaters. You should have seen some of the costumes!

There was a bishop and a cardinal in very authentic robes and mitres. Bacchus was there dressed in very little () and there were lots of pirates and witches and wizards. Amy, who works there, was a very convincing Sarah Palin.

There was a cluster of red grapes and a cluster of green grapes. :rotfl: This ingenious couple had purple and green balloons completely covering their entire bodies, with the exception of their heads and legs. They were removable because they did sit down and eat outside, but moving around inside the shop proved difficult for them. But it was a great costuming idea.
