DDA Chapter 14

There was some controversy around 6 months ago on the transportation boards.....as much as I love the DIS...I don't think how it was resolved was very equitable...basically all non sponsors were banned

and that is why I am happy to stay in our little corner going unnoticed...we hardly have any controversy (other than which DDA kiddo is the cutest and that's easily resolved...they all are!! )

I thought ALL polls had to be closed by 7 PM local time?

NYS polls are always open 6:00 am - 9:00 pm. I'm sure those are the hours again this year.

Marci, that is HORRIBLE about Andrew's phone! I am so sorry! I would be so angry I wouldn't know what to do. I hope you are able to enjoy your anniversary this weekend.

Kind of like when TGM became a sponsor they started bleeping out T o u r i n g Plans dot com. I have nothing but the highest praise for Len - he is awesome about responding to inquiries and offering suggestions. I think it sucks that these boards are mentioned (favorably) in the book but his book is starred out like a profanity on the boards.

So we are back from Party City. We bought a ninja costume. The problem is the hood. The cut-out for the eyes is barely bigger than a golf ball. (Like ONE golf ball for BOTH eyes to look out of.) He is NOT going to be able to see out of that, glasses not withstanding! So I bought a "pirate" hat that is more like a skull cap. The decal on the hat is already peeling so I will just pluck that off and make it a ninja hat. I bought black make-up for his face and he can take it or leave it. Princess was TERRIFIED of everything in Party City so that was interesting. I will say some of the things were pretty scary, and they had these big, creepy devils and things hanging from the ceiling even in the aisles with birthday stuff.

We took the zombie costume back, went to the grocery store to get the stuff I forgot to buy yesterday (I left the list on the counter), and now we are back home to have lunch and put Princess down for her nap. She has ballet this afternoon.

Really? Huh. I guess they don't all close at 7 PM! Maybe I am confused.

Can someone tell me how this makes sense???
I'm pricing out room only for three nights and room only for two nights. Both fall over the same dates. Both are for the same hotel. WHY is the hotel not available for the two nights but is available for three?! I'll be booking two rooms for three nights and then canceling one night - but talk about a waste of time!

That happens all the time. "Minimum stay required" or some such crap. I had a CM get really snarky with me once when I told her to book the longer stay and I would call back and cancel off the nights I didn't want. If they were SERIOUS about it being minimum stay then they wouldn't allow you to modify off the extra nights.

Princess has had the WORST nap in the history of napping. She was quiet for about 20 minutes when the yard men showed up next door. She tossed and turned and thrashed and whispered to herself for 30 minutes until they left. Then the guys showed up to do THIS yard! Another 30 minutes of thrashing and moaning from Princess. Now she is talking to herself like she does when she is WIDE awake. There is no way she can get up after only sleeping for 20 minutes! Days when she naps for 45 minutes are bad enough!

******Public Service Announcement*******!!!!!!!

One of our co-workers was feeling kinda crummy so she started taking Ginger Root that she bought on line from a Holistic Medicine web site. Well it went down fine but when she started getting really sick and vomiting, as it was coming back up, it was burning her esophagus.

When her DH took her to the hospital, the DR told her that had she waited any longer the damage would have been so bad that she probably could not have been able to talk. She has been out for four days now and we are hoping she will be feeling better next week.


I can remember when I used to take Black Cohosh for those darned private summers, I felt really great for a while, but then I started having some weird side affects and had started to read some not so good reports. My Dr had said that sometimes it builds up in your system and you have to stop it for awhile but I just stopped it altogether. But this incident makes me not want to take any herbal stuff. you just don't know what you could be getting yourself into.

Good Afternoon,

I had better get off here and get my chili started for tomorrow night. I went shopping yesterday and didn't have much luck finding any jeans. I refuse to pay much for them since I'm hoping they are temporary, so I guess I'll just go back to Academy and get a couple of pairs like the ones I bought the other day.

I'll probably have to do laundry at least once but that's ok, I'll manage.

Since we're driving I'm taking towels and washcloths with me, I'm with Elizabeth on that one, I like fresh towels.

We certainly did have lots of drama. I had Andrew start his homework on the way home from work yesterday. One of our neighbor's kept texting him, so I told Andrew to text him that he's doing homework and to quit texting him, that he'll call him when we get home. Andrew told me he would call him, and I told him three times not to -- I try to be concious of using up minutes on kids' phones. Most parents put unlimited texting but not a lot of minutes on those phones. Anyway, Andrew called him so I took his phone away and turned it off. We went straight to the jiffy lube place to have the car inspected when we got to Kaufman. When they finished, I got in the car and saw the phone was missing. Of course, no one would admit to taking it. I was furious -- I begged, I told them I wouldn't prosecute, I said they could keep the phone that I just want the SIM card etc. Of course, no one would admit to it.

Thanks Marci! We didn't do anything special, watched movies & ordered out food lol

Sorry your day did not go to well I would have been livid about the phone! Did you call it to see who answers?

Here is a pic from the nursing home ToT.

We tried to see my Uncle Buck but he is not at all happy that he is there and doesn't want any visitors. He recovered well from the bout of pneumonia, amazing at 96 years young. His mind is all there and still razor sharp. I think he is just depressed being there. My mom and aunts have been trying to convince his son to move him back home with a caretaker.
