Question, do you prefer a gas or electric stove? We have gas right now, but are thinking about buying a electric one. There is a black one at Lowes marked down to $225 & I am just not sure what to do.

I prefer electric and I have cooked with both almost evenly.

Prayers requested for my best friend Jan and her family. Her father died. He has been in and out of the hospital for the last year or so. He was in his late 80's I think. It is one of those situations where it is a blessing for him but a terrible loss for my best friend.

Done!!

Vicki-I am sorry for your friend. It doesn't matter how old you are it's hard to lose a parent.

Robyn-I am glad that the principal seems to be ready to deal with the problem!!

I'm heading off to bed! Gotta be at the top of my game for tomorrow!!!

Talk to y'all later!

I think it's a bit odd us westerners are the first ones off to bed.

See you soon!!:goodvibes

Theresa have a wonderful weekend!

Elin enjoy Disney!

I look forward to hearing about both of your trips & pictures would be wonderful ::yes::

Glynis, many prayers for your mom

Vicki, prayers for your friend too.

Elin and Theresa have great trips.

Janet - I've had gas and electric, I definitely prefer gas, it's especially handy when the power is out.

Good to see you Denise

Thank you all for the stove responses. I would love to get the electric stove because of the price, but that means Gary would have to do some more electrical work. If we stay with gas he will still have to redo the gas lines as the stove will not be in the same place as the old one.

So I guess I will leave the decision up to Gary :confused3

Glynis-prayers for your Mom

Vicki-prayers for Jan & her family

Jen-goodluck with your new student:wizard:

Robyn-hope things work out with the sub

Janet-I have a glass top electric-it is so much easier to clean and it heats up a lot quicker too vs a "traditional" electric. I always thought gas was better but I've never had a gas stove.

I'm in the need of some major pixie dust right now. My dad just called me to let me know that things with my mom have spiraled downhill rather rapidly. She's on dialysis 3 times a week, and for the last 2 weeks at each session, she's passed out. Her blood pressure becomes almost non-existent, and it's been really puzzling. Her doctor's ran some tests today and found that her new (well, 5 year old) heart valve is not functioning at all anymore. That is affecting her dialysis and causing her to pass out. It's very dangerous, as the dialysis is not working effectively, without that valve, so her body is collecting all the poison and not getting rid of it.

She has an emergency meeting with the heart specialist at 8:00 tomorrow morning, and they will most likely schedule her for surgery as soon as possible. They will try to get her stabilized, but dad is projecting that surgery could come as early as Monday, if not sooner.

If you could spare some prayers, good thoughts, pixie dust, etc., for my mom and dad, I would appreciate it. She's in good health otherwise, so hopefully this surgery will really fix her up.

Wow  Will you be heading to your parent's to be there for the surgery?

I was popping in to say hi, and I noticed the prayer request from Glynis. Your mom and dad (and you of course!) are in my prayers. Please know that I am thinking of you!!!

Life is crazy busy with work. I knew that FT would be busy, but I don't think I realized how busy. I definitely have new found respect for all of y'all who work FT, take care of your families, especially the ones who have traveling spouses or are single moms. Whew! Anyway, I keep trying to keep up here, but I don't DIS much at all. I have 3, 12 hour shifts a week plus class all day on Friday. Hopefully it'll slow down after classes end in mid December.

So sending everyone a big hello and hug!

Hello stop in when you can.

Glynis, I love, love, love my job! It is just wonderful, the other nurses and docs are sooooo nice and helpful. It's been wild so far (already had 2 babies crash and go critical on me during my shift), so I am learning a ton and using my brain cells again. I know I made the right decision, and it is definitley the job for me. :thumbsup2

I'm glad you are enjoying your job. That is so important.

I got the free dining pin code in the mail today (the Donald evelope). Doesn't work for our two night minimum and doesn't work for the December trip. I'd love to just up and go though too Deb.

Glynis - :grouphug: and pixiedust:

I guess we all have cabin fever and want a vacation. I keep thinking, last year...

Prayers requested for my best friend Jan and her family. Her father died. He has been in and out of the hospital for the last year or so. He was in his late 80's I think. It is one of those situations where it is a blessing for him but a terrible loss for my best friend.

You guys are tempting me for an October trip. For Halloween week-end, a flight would be $201 round trip for each of us. With a code, we could get reservations at Port Orleans. Our AP's are good until December. Hmmm ... :scratchin

I wouldn't be able to resist if I had AP's burning a hole in my pocket.

Question, do you prefer a gas or electric stove? We have gas right now, but are thinking about buying a electric one. There is a black one at Lowes marked down to $225 & I am just not sure what to do.

Electric all the way

We have an electric in the house and a gas in the camper. I prefer electric personally. It is easier for me to get the temperature the way I want it.

Us too. It take forever to heat water on the gas stove in our camper. The electric is much quicker. I also find that things burn easier in the gas oven.

Work was crazy tonight. I'd like to say it was super busy, but it really wasn't that busy. I waited on 31 people and it felt like 68. The kitchen was under staffed probably based on how slow we've been and with no microwaves now they could not keep up pace. People waited forever for their food. It will be interesting to see how things shake down tomorrow. Whatever happens it should directly effect me though :thumbsup2

Nick's birthday is Monday and he is so excited. I don't think he's ever been this excited. He even made himself a countdown calendar. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Is 13 a big birthday for boys? I don't remember it being a big deal for me :confused3
