Well I was wrong, we found the little nits. This is going to take forever going through each strand of hair.
I am going to go and talk to the principal and school nurse.
I am fuming!
We are not going to cut Leighanna's hair. But if we have to go through this time and time again... I just don't think I could do it.
I am taking a break from it.
Thankfully Playhouse Disney is keeping Leighanna somewhat occupied as we go through it.
But my back is already killing me.
Can I go back and start this day over, with better results?
Wah!
Enough of my venting!
Time to go back and deal with this!
I will keep you posted on Lice Watch 2008.![]()

well I was 7 minutes late in printing and we got A 36-38 on boarding passes.
It's disgusting! Some of these people just give money and don't come to church but they are the supposed leaders?? (One man on their list, who I took off, brings a nice size check once a quarter because he likes to sit in the chapel to think)

Tom, I am so sorry that you and your wife and Leighanna have to go through this. So far we have made it without the pesky, little critters. (Knock wood!) I know that I wouldn't do well. When Laura was in third grade, the classes couldn't seem to get rid of them for a while. One suggestion that I thinked helped us a lot was to put the hair in a bun and coat it liberally with gel or hairspray. The lice don't like product, because it keeps them from attaching to the strands of hair. I also made her put her coat and back pack inside a plastic bag at school (as did many other parents). When she got home, I'd run the coat and the backpack through the dryer on high heat for 20 minutes.I know you all know how much I hate my job...well I think it may have sunk to new low. I am always able to convince the pastor at this time of the year to add a few of the leaders in the church to the "leadership" dinner invite list who don't give as much money (but give as much as they can) but give of their time. Well the Stewardship chair and John came to me last week with a new list that they say Richard approved. ALL it has on it are the big money people and I couldn't convince them to add a couple committee chairs. It's disgusting! Some of these people just give money and don't come to church but they are the supposed leaders?? It makes me so sad and mad to see church "leaders" so worried about money and not how many people they are reaching and touching.
I've already put my regrets in for the dinner, with a lame excuse...but I truly don't want to be working here then.
and lots of
that a great job opportunity comes your way soon!Jennifer - We'll see you very soon!!!! Can't wait to hear all about the surprise, etc.
I am off for good now, I think! Gotta get some cleaning done, through the shower, load the car, etc.
Hopefully I'll see a few of you this week. To everyone else, I'll catch up with you in a week! Have a good one.

Our school does check heads periodically and sends notes home if lice is found on anyone in the grade level. No names, of course. The other fun note to get is pinworms, but I'll leave that for another time.

Robyn, good thoughts for your friend.![]()
TWINS, I tell you, twins!DH didn't do that this morning, but it happens often enough.
Good morning, DDA!
Oh, how sweet for her to remember that I made them. Good luck Robyn. They are somewhat easy to make. If you need any assistance let me know!
Guess what I found this morning as I was brushing Leighanna's hair for school this morning? The dreaded lice. Ugh!![]()
Today is picture day at school.
Needless to say Leighanna will miss it.
We called the school. Apparently they are not allowed to inform parents if a child has been infected. They only hinted that Leighanna should ALWAYS wear her hair up. Apparently there is a child in her class that has them and is continuing to go to school untreated.

Off to spend the next 5 hours trying to get this out!
I have to bag all her stuffies for two weeks and wash all the bedding in hot water. I have a feeling this is going to be a long day!
Oh, how horrible! The trick that I learned is that lice love clean heads so I make it a point to spray the girls hair with hairspray or gel or something as the bugs can't attach as easily to "dirty hair" They love straight hair too. I hope this isn't too painful for Leighanna or you and your DW.I'm working from home with the kids today as they are out of school. So far I've gotten lots of laundry and work done -- I love working from home!
I better get going -- we have a busy afternoon with haircuts and picking up the nephew from school, so I better get some more work done.
Have a good weekend everyone!

's That is why we have nothing to do with Eric' synagogue. They demand a yearly membership fee based on your income and it would have cost us about $300 a month to join. We simply cannot afford that. Eric's father even left there because of the constant outstretched hands and the fact that the High Holy days service required a ticket to attend. The church that I grew up in and that Emma and Molly were baptized in starting getting very aggressive in their fundraising efforts. That, coupled with the fact that there are over 1500 members we found a new church.I don't even want to know about this!![]()

Exactly! Another mother and I talk all the time about what horrible mothers we are, because we'd rather see the "strep throat" note than one of those.![]()
So, should I cancel or go? I also scheduled a mammogram for the same day, because I am way overdue on that. See, going to the doctor just leads to all kinds of trouble. I also have high blood pressure (several readings of 140-144/80-90) and have a prescription for that. Plus, I need to lose weight and exercise (but I already knew that). Everything looked "normal" on my exams, but it will be several days to get the results of the PAP.Exactly! How would you like to be the nurse who gets to diagnose that??
Okay, I got curious and looked it up!!How would you like to be the nurse who gets to diagnose that??

So, I packed up all my courage and actually went to my physical yesterday. I need a little more of that DDA pixiedust, because I think I'm about to waste more of my time and money (but I want it to only be a waste of time and money). The doctor said that he heard a heart murmur when I was lying down. I swear he has heard that same one before (and only in that position), but he doesn't have record of it. "In a majority of cases, this is an innocent murmur, but we need to check it out." So, I need to go have an echocardiogram. Dh thinks that we will have less to pay on this one, since the CT scan used up our deductible, but we'll still owe 20%. I have no idea how much that is going to be!So, should I cancel or go? (Maybe one of these days I'll listen to myself)Or the poor kid who has it! I'm still traumatized from my "exam" yesterday, and I'm a big girl.
