it's just crazy right now...and Bill is running around espousing about "major destruction, were doomed, oh my God" etc.... I may ground up some Valium in his cereal

Kristine,,,,,I was just watching the Weather Channel and saw you were getting a lot of rain. Take care

It sounds like our Chicago area friends also need some PD! Flooding that area too, with remnants of Ike headed your direction in a few days. Gosh, folks... we need a few breaks here, Id' say! ::yes::

gonna be a good one. I will be watching and ready to trash talk :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

i am ready! I did some extra work to be sure I had everything ready for school through Tuesday--i am NOT working Monday night! I always wear my jersey on game day, but ill be working..so im wearing my dallas tank top under my "teacher clothes!"

Did you tell him his seat cushion may be used as a flotation device?

Oh NO omg I am trying not to laugh but that is too funny to pass up!!!:lmao:

Seriously,,,stay safe Kristine and everyone facing possible damage from this storm and any more that may crop up. :grouphug:

Good Morning DDA,

Sending out lots of prayers and PD for all our friends in Ike's path.

We've been seeing Power Company caravans headed that way, hopefully they will get power restored quickly.

I need to go get ready for the meet. Have a great day, DDA!

Enjoy!!!

Good Morning DDA!

It's raining here...no mowing today! Oh darn. ;) That's ok, I should start packing...or at least find and empty the suitcases.

It's not like you have much to do anyway, I mean you aren't getting married or anything spectacular like that. ;)

Good Morning DDA

I will be off line today and part of tomorrow. I am planning for Hal's surprise 60th birthday party for tonight. My DD is to call me this morning to "come over to watch my DGS" really to make potato salad. :rotfl: So far he has absolutely no idea. He is going to be so surprised. I was able to get ahold of a friend that he grew up with and has not seen in over 12 years. Plus a few other surprise people. Tonight is going to be such a fun time for him.

He is telling people he is not 60 but is celebrating his 10th anniversary of his 50th birthday.

We went out with a bunch of teachers that he works with and had sushi. It was such a good time. They really like Hal and like working with him. They also had such things to say about our oldest son. Some of them work with him or sometimes have to go to class with him. "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" :lmao:

Have a great time tonight. Happy Anniversary to Hal!!:goodvibes

That sounds like so much fun! Enjoy!!

It is raining just a bit now. DH should be headed home within the hour so he won't be out in the thick of it.

I got my last 3 nights of AKV concierge! :dance3: Now I have all 9 nights squared away!

:cool1: on your last 3 nights!!

:rotfl2: Although I will be 77! My kids will be the same age many of you are right now.

And just think you should have some beautiful grandbabies to brag about!!

Oh, I hope you can reschedule! I can't believe you can go apple picking already! I hope we have some to pick this year, last year was awful for it! We're planning on going in October. :goodvibes

All right, with that I'm off probably for the rest of the day. I was up at 3:30 (after the girls ate) to clean the bathrooms, since I couldn't really go back to sleep :crazy2: :rotfl:

Kyle's out mowing now, and I'm finishing up the house, some cooking/baking, etc. People are arriving around 1, and staying for the afternoon.... then tonight a handful of them are staying for the biggest, scariest game of the college football season (OSU vs. USC). I'm not exaggerating when I say my heart absolutely races every time I think about it! Sometimes I'm a little nauseated. Do you think I'm too emotionally invested in football?! :confused3 :rotfl:

I think going in October seems like a much better plan. I think I am going to head out to the mall for Lucy's pictures and a first haircut.

Have fun today!

checking in to see how everyone is dealing with the various weather situations...

we are under major flood warnings....we have already gotten 5 inches in a very short time....it was a stressful night to say the least...

it's just crazy right now...and Bill is running around espousing about "major destruction, were doomed, oh my God" etc.... I may ground up some Valium in his cereal

Never a dull moment in your house!! It must be such fun. Seriously though :wizard: that you stay dry and safe.

Did you tell him his seat cushion may be used as a flotation device?

:rotfl2:

They said 4 million customers without power in Houston, and it may take weeks to get it back on. :scared: I hope that's not accurate!

I've been sitting here for an hour and our conditions don't appear to be changing. I'm sure we'll see more wind and rain as the day progresses.

Things are going from bad to worse.....the water has rushed down the street like an ocean......the house 5 down is flooded out...we have begun to take water in the basement.....thankfully we are somewhat higher than the house 5 down....what a nightmare

I am all about teachable moments! :rotfl2: Feel free to tell Cassidy whatever.
I like your CO story. I read it when you first posted it, I just don't have enough functioning brain cells to offer any revision suggestions! I hope you get a call back from them soon! :wizard:

Everyone - Thanks for all of your hugs, support, and patience! :goodvibes

I got a LONG e-mail back from Diva. She said Mom is better now, so apparently Mom just didn't feel well yesterday or last night. She wrote all about school, the boy she likes, how she has been looking for a job but not getting any interviews. I think she is just kind of lonely.

I can't sleep. I am waiting for DVC Member Services to open. :rolleyes1
I am so happy that you got a nice email from Diva Girl. I'm so glad your Mom is okay. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

That sounds like so much fun! Enjoy!!

Oh, no! I am sorry! We are thinking of you guys. I hope you won't have too much damage. Is your basement finished out as living space?

I just realized that I am under 2 weeks for our September trip and in double digits for our December trip!

 stay safe!!

So we watched Nancy Drew tonight. It was my first Red Box purchase. I can see myself using that a lot. The kids liked it.

Alyssa had a cold. She has been getting up in the middle of the night complaining about her throat hurting. Today it really developed into a full blown cold. Stuffy nose, watery eyes, sneezing. I gave her some sudafed and rubbed some Vicks on her. I hope she can kick before Monday rolls around.

Tomorrow is Nicholas' first football game. The team will all gather at a local shopping center and then caravan the 45 minute drive to the school he will play at. He is excited yet nervous.

Good luck to Nicholas today!

She usually prefers Ms. Selfish, which is why it really freaked me out that she e-mailed me. She would ordinarily only come to me if there was something REALLY wrong that required adult intervention. Ms. Selfish does not qualify as an adult.
I am happy to chat with her, whatever her motivation is.

I'm glad Diva is reaching out to you. I hope your Shazam moment is accurate and she is beginning to recognize what is going on.

okay headed to bed. Will see if we get any wind or rain here from Ike. Karen, Marci, Elizabeth and Lindsey stay safe.

Hi Jennifer. It sounds like you guys are getting pelted now. Stay safe. Sending lots of prayers to Karen and her family and Lindsay's family. :grouphug:

Chanon -- more cool goodies! Sorry about your hand. Burns are horrible.

Kristine -- I hope you guys don't flood. Do you have pumps in the basement to help get the water out?

We are far enough up in Texas that the feeder rings are just now getting to us. They originally predicted 6 - 10 inches of rain, with up to 70 mph winds, but they think Ike may turn a little more to the east of us and it may really be more like 4--6 inches and 50 mph winds. We're east of Dallas so we may get hit with a little more wind and rain. We've moved everything to the garage that was outside, and are just sitting here watching the news waiting. Jake is a little freaked out about it but I think we'll be just fine. We're really seeing the trees "dance." I have huge old oak trees so I'm worried about that and the roof. Other than that, we shouldn't have much damage. (fingers crossed)

The pictures don't do justice....

water came rushing down the street on the upper left...it looked like a raging river...
