DDA Chapter 11

We ended up have a lunch BBQ as our friend came over this morning. It was nice to just hang out, but the wind is blustery here. It was hard to keep the grill going and we had to put the umbrella down as the wind was nearly blowing the table and umbrella off the deck. I'm not sure why we have blustery winds here today :confused3

Colby is out riding his 4 Wheeler. He is finally big enough to handle it. The other 2 are playing video games as they finished their homework and couldn't possibly find something to do outside.

Chris is working on his street rod. I need to run to Borders and buy the new Kingdom Keepers.

No He keeps it really short anyway. I think I'll just do a bald clown cap :rotfl:

Jim Cantore graduated from my high school. His sister was in my class. She now lives in Florida. His brother Vinny still lives around here though :goodvibes

Very nice :thumbsup2

I seem to have misplaced Chris' extra key fob too. Maybe they are hiding together :confused3

Me...why do I need a costume. Can't I just dress up the men? Actually I haven't really thought too much about it.

I'm sorry that DH doesn't love Disney as much as you. Is there another vacation location that the whole family loves? We choose WDW because all 5 of us love it, but if one of us didn't I think we'd try to find an alternate place that we all loved  Blasphemy I know, but family vacations are important, those are memories that will carry with you and the kids for life.

I hope they can decide how best to proceed and that his surgery is quick and safe

OMG how much can one woman take? Of course you have our prayers. I'm pleased to read that things haven't been as bad as predicted.

:cool1: :cool1:

This one

Wow, that looks much worse than from the patio. Stay safe. Any damage to your home so far?

I like that one too.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Now if this storm would just pass you could relax for a moment

At first look we just have a very messy yard to clean up, we haven't been able to get out enough to really assess the situation.

It sounds like you don't have any water issues in your home then. That is really good considering all the rain and penatrating winds

Biloxi is report to have received 3.69 inches of rain so far

Wow. I'm speechless. I can't begin to thank you for all the wonderful notes about my Dad. They moved him to another hospital about an hour ago. One with better cardiac care. They are discussing either a pacemaker or defibulator. I'm not happy with either choice. I'm not liking surgery on a 93 year old man. Plus, my FIL died while having a pacemaker put in. Scares me. I know it is only a 5% chance of something going wrong, but when you have already had someone die because they were one of the 5%, it's just really scary.

Currently they are running more tests to figure out which device they want to implant. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again from the bottom of my very grateful heart:love:

Continued prayers for your dad, Stephanie! I'm so sorry this is happening. Surgery on someone that old is scary!

My 91 year old grandmother broke her hip and had to have surgery. I didn't think she would survive, but she did. She was in hospice care for quite a while afterwards because no one thought she would live, but she was a plucky old bird! She managed to live another 8 years after that!

I need another round of prayers and Pixie Dust. Just before we lost power today I got a phone call from my dad. He is in Nashville at a square dance weekend, his "friend" is with him. He got up this morning and passed out, they took him to the hospital and they found he has a "sick sinus" and will be having a pace maker put in today.

I talked with his nurse and she assures me he will be fine, but will not be able to lift anything or drive for a while. He will be able to travel in a few days and his friend will be able to drive.

I hate that I can't be there with him, but it is absolutly impossible.

Oh, Debbie! Of course he has my prayers. For as long as you need them. You are in my prayers as well, for peace of mind as he goes through this.

which writing do you like better?

I like the first one better. Don't exactly know why, but it really stands out for me!

I just got a call from Dad, he is sporting a new pacemaker and should be released from the hospital in a couple of hours. He will have a follow up with the doctor tomorrow and they will decide when he will make the trip home after that.

Wow! Good news, and so quickly, too! What a relief for you!!! That's one less thing to worry about right now.

Thank you,
He didn't call and let me know what was going on until right before they were to do the procedure. My DD and I were discussing, it was actually a good thing that he was there instead of here, he was away from the storm and happened to get a doctor that specializes in this procedure.

Good for him! I hope is recovery goes well!

They were just showing people swimming in the streets on the news, and we still have a lot of rain ahead of us.

Eww! Just because you CAN swim in the street doesn't mean you SHOULD!
My friends used to go out with a skateboard and a sheet and "sail" down the road.

It is lucky that he wasn't having a medical crisis in the middle of the hurricane!

Deb - Are you from Connecticut? I thought you had always lived in VT. Jim Cantore has a commercial where he talks about being from CT.

Jennifer - It looks to me like the only difference in the two designs you posted was in the font at the top, right? If so, I like the one on the bottom better.

ETA: But everyone else likes the top one. ;)

That is good news, Debbie.

I have thoroughly enjoyed your video although I still think you are a crazy woman for being out in that stuff! ;)

Thanks Glynis, that does make me feel better. And Elizabeth, your note about the 90+ year old lady and her pacemaker made me feel better too. Thanks!

The doctors at the new hospital want to do their own set of tests, so no surgery tomorrow.:cool1: :cool1: I can get payroll done and then go to Jersey. :cool1:

Are you close to where your Dad is in Jersey? I hope so! :goodvibes

Elizabeth - I wanted to encourage everyone to go look at your DH's pictures on your TR. They are really good!

Thanks! I just added more.

He is pouting because I posted all of "his" pictures. ;)
I told him he can go post them on the Photo forum because none of those guys ever venture over to the trip reports!
