DDA Chapter 11

Wow. I'm speechless. I can't begin to thank you for all the wonderful notes about my Dad. They moved him to another hospital about an hour ago. One with better cardiac care. They are discussing either a pacemaker or defibulator. I'm not happy with either choice. I'm not liking surgery on a 93 year old man. Plus, my FIL died while having a pacemaker put in. Scares me. I know it is only a 5% chance of something going wrong, but when you have already had someone die because they were one of the 5%, it's just really scary.

Currently they are running more tests to figure out which device they want to implant. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again from the bottom of my very grateful heart:love:

Ill keep your dad in my prayers--is he at a hospital around this area? Let me know if you need anythign!

I need another round of prayers and Pixie Dust. Just before we lost power today I got a phone call from my dad. He is in Nashville at a square dance weekend, his "friend" is with him. He got up this morning and passed out, they took him to the hospital and they found he has a "sick sinus" and will be having a pace maker put in today.

I talked with his nurse and she assures me he will be fine, but will not be able to lift anything or drive for a while. He will be able to travel in a few days and his friend will be able to drive.

I hate that I can't be there with him, but it is absolutly impossible.
Absolutely!!

Here's some video I took from our back patio, we have been dealing with gusts instead of sustained winds, you can see a strong one part the trees.

Debbie - I am glad you have power, and that the winds are gusty instead of constant!

The lady who worked in the gift shop at the synagogue was 90. She passed out in the restroom one day and banged her head on the sink. Refused to let the ambulance take her to the hospital. She had a pacemaker put in after that and she was just fine. :) I miss having kids at the synagogue preschool.

By the way, there was a free dining pamplet in my room at Por which I just couldn't ignore:rolleyes1 so we are booked at the AS Music family suite 8/23-9/4 2009. This is tentative as if we do move to NC then the kids will already be back to school by then there so we may have to adjust things when we know whats going on.

Bernadette,
So how did you like/dislike ASMusic suites?

We didn't have a free dining pamphlet in our room, just the clock for bounce back through the end of this year. The date wouldn't really work for us anyway, but it would have been tempting.

I missed that you might move to NC. When will you know? That could be exciting!

I saw the clock pamphlet for bounceback, but I didn't read it.

DS will start back to school 8/24 next year so the free dining thing wouldn't have done us any good. Besides, I think we may do the hotel entirely on points next year.

I was going to do a couple of nights with cash, but I am rethinking that. We can do all points and still have enough points to take my mom for 5 nights in 2010 (IF that ends up happening). With airfare looking like it will be close to $900 for 2 of us (we have enough miles for one ticket) I don't really want to pay cash for any hotel nights.

Janet - how scary! :rotfl: I can't wait to see finished pictures!

Anne Marie - great pictures!

Jen, I hope you find your keys! How frustrating!

We have the best neighbors. The funny thing is, they are all mostly my age, but are so excited to have a new baby coming. They are all so relieved that it's not them, that they are ecstatic to celebrate for me! This little guy will have so many "aunts" and "uncles" in this neighborhood, that I won't ever have to worry about him getting into any trouble!:rotfl:

How wonderful! :goodvibes:

our plans are to go to chick-fil-a for free chicken strips just need to put on our UT shirts.

My mom and sister stopped on the way here, and Kyle and I are going later!

Cute! And hooray! :yay:

Oh, that is really scary to consider surgery on a 93 year old. I hope you all are able to come to a peaceful decision about how to move forward!

The sinus node controls the beating of the heart and is the heart's natural pacemaker. It is basically a cluster of cells that can generate and electric impulse which then causes the heart cells to beat together. If the sinus node isn't functioning completely correctly, the heart can't beat right. Then they can install an artificial pacemaker to send the correct electrical signal.

I think I remembered most of that right...

Right on! :thumbsup2

Jennifer,
I like the 1st on better..very cute!

Dana interviewed for a position in NC so we will see!

Of course my DDA family will be the first to know!

I just got a call from Dad, he is sporting a new pacemaker and should be released from the hospital in a couple of hours. He will have a follow up with the doctor tomorrow and they will decide when he will make the trip home after that.

:cheer2: yeah good to hear

Ann Marie, that looks like a double rainbow.

The pool at POFQ is a big hit with kids, even my 15 year old cousin liked it.

Ohh, what did Katie do, that got dad wanting to pour a drink over her head?

All is still calm here, I fell asleep (that's why I haven't been posting). Looks like the outbands are pretty close to shore now so things should pick up soon.

Deb - are you planning on shaving Chris's head for the costume? :lmao:

No He keeps it really short anyway. I think I'll just do a bald clown cap :rotfl:

Jim is crazy.

Jim Cantore graduated from my high school. His sister was in my class. She now lives in Florida. His brother Vinny still lives around here though :goodvibes

Very nice :thumbsup2

Anne Marie--great pictures!!

So i have been going crazy! I lost my keys for my car. I realized this yesterday when i went to leave, but was not in my car since friday--so im looking EVERYWHERE and they are nowhere to be found---of course, my car hhad to have one of those big keys with the chip that is 100.00 to replace so im trying to look everythwere i have been and they are nowhere!

I seem to have misplaced Chris' extra key fob too. Maybe they are hiding together :confused3

Deb - Humpty Dumpty and the lifeguard are perfect costumes for Chris and Hunter. Now your men are covered. What about you?

Me...why do I need a costume. Can't I just dress up the men? Actually I haven't really thought too much about it.

Debbie-stay safe!!!!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I'm still in a funk. I think we had our last family trip. DH just doesn't enjoy Disney and that makes me cranky when I'm there with someone who isn't happy. He did enjoy meals on this trip which he hadn't always done and even a few things-mini golf, Living Seas, and Mission Space (green), and meeting DDA friends but was mostly miserable. He skipped 4 park days so I didn't have to buy him an AP but he HATED that even more than going to the parks. SO....I'll continue to go one on one with the kids but I don't see a family trip for a while. I do think he would like say Jan or Feb or Nov better than August but I'm ready for my next planned trip (Feb) to be without him.

I cut out an outfit for Emma's first day of school so I really have to go work on that.

I go back to work tomorrow and things are going to be crazy!!!! It is my crazy time anyways but my new supervisor's full time assistant had a baby while I was away and it would take too long to train a temp so my boss, I and another part timer will have to pick up her work for the next 12 weeks. I don't know how much I'll be able to check in.

Sorry the photopass link didn't work. Does anyone want me to email them the link?

I'm sorry that DH doesn't love Disney as much as you. Is there another vacation location that the whole family loves? We choose WDW because all 5 of us love it, but if one of us didn't I think we'd try to find an alternate place that we all loved  Blasphemy I know, but family vacations are important, those are memories that will carry with you and the kids for life.

I hope they can decide how best to proceed and that his surgery is quick and safe

OMG how much can one woman take? Of course you have our prayers. I'm pleased to read that things haven't been as bad as predicted.
