DDA Chapter 11

Oh no. What happened?

Oh, no! Lots of good thoughts coming your way! I hope your Dad is OK!

Deb - The hurricane coverage is mesmerizing (in a bad way). DS is watching Fantasia so no hurricane coverage at the moment. I need to get showered and dressed so we can go sort out the drum pad/stand issues.
Don't know what to tell you about an obsession. I was just poking around at airfare. Not that the schedule for August is up yet, but for the end of July we are looking at $446 per person. :scared1: I imagine August will be the same. Crazy. I have to call next weekend to book our DVC ressies, then keep watching airfare while we wait for vacation bid to roll around again. But since DH bids on the other schedule now I am pretty confident we can get the August week.

O no! Hope everything is okay-you have my cell number if you need me!

 My prayers are with you

Prayers for your travels and for your Dad.

pixiedust: and prayers for you and your dad.

So sorry to hear this Stephanie.

Stephanie-your family is in my prayers.

We are on the ship. It's quite windy outside, and our itinerary has been switched around - we'll be at CC tomorrow, Nassau on Tuesday, and then at sea on Wednesday (originally was to be Nassau, at sea, then CC). I'm sure all is subject to change, too. The ship is beautiful as always, and I'm hoping we'll find some slivers of sun somewhere. It's been cloudy most of the day, but I don't think it's rained, unlike yesterday. Apparently those were outer bands of Gustav - from 500 miles away.

Stephanie - thanks for your comments about Mickey and Minnie - that made me smile. I've already seen them today, so I know they're on board. Many, many prayers for your dad, and for your drive. Please keep us posted.

Debbie, please, please stay safe. I hope you can stay busy; I can only imagine how powerless you can feel watching this thing coming. Many, many prayers over the next few days. Please keep us posted if you can.

Thanks for the well-wishes. If nothing else, we're on the Wonder, and know they'll keep us safe! I'll try to check in when I can. Stay safe all!

:wizard: Hope he is ok.

Good evening...

Debbie- Know that I am praying for you and everyone that is to be impacted from this horrible storm. Please stay safe. :wizard: I love the blankets!! That Spiderman one is so cool.

Steffy- Prayers for your dad. :wizard: and 's

Lindsay- Thanks for checking in with us and letting us know that Mickey and Minnie are safe! I'm glad you and Jonathan are too!! :goodvibes

Theresa- I hope you have found some relief from the migraine.:wizard:

Anne Marie- Welcome home, can't wait to see your pics.

Deb- I'm sure you'll find a new obsession! I for the life of me cannot crochet or knit either despite how crafty I am.

Heidi- I can't remember if I mentioned how glad I was to hear your mom is in the clear!

Beth- Thanks for the heads up on the new Kingdom Keepers. I'll have to get Emma to read the first one now.

I know I'm missing a few, my brain is seriously mush. We rolled in around 1am last night putting us in bed around 2 but since it was a normal night for Lucy she was up about 7am. My niece was here with my mom last night so she ended up spending the night too. My parents and sister came over for a cookout this afternoon. Everyone has left and the house is back in order so the girls and I are snuggled in on the couch to watch the new Little Mermaid movie.

Oh and one last thing....Lucy is starting to take steps on her own!!!! She do about 5 at a time. She gets so excited though that she quickly falls downs!

The first time I saw them was at a cousin's wedding, that I would say was.... 13 years ago? (Give or take). We did them, but I still don't see them all of the time, by any means!

 Kyle and I were talking about your family, and Mississippi today. Please stay safe, and know you are in our thoughts and prayers!

This is so beautiful Debbie, thank you for sharing! And the spiderman afghan is SO cool!!

Have a WONDERFUL time! I hope you can relax, and maybe see the sun a bit too! ;)

Steffy, I hope all is all right... travel safely!

Sorry to post and run, we've been out all day in the miserable heat (94 and 90+% humidity), so it's hopefully going to be an early night for the girls (and me!)

Take care!

Stephanie - Prayers for your Dad and save travels for you.

Debbie - Hope the cat 3 predictions are as bad as it gets, if not even less.

Deb - Scrapbooking? Organizing photos? I don't know, but I understand! Seems I often need an obsession as well. Too bad I have too many options available to me that I don't ever get too.

Lyndsey - Hope all stays dry for you and you even get some sun. Have a great trip!

Theresa - Hope your headache subsides quickly.

:wizard:  I'm praying you all Stephanie. Please keep us posted.

Stephanie prayers for your dad

Lindsay I hope you have a wonderful time!

Debbie Please stay in touch if possible, we are all thinking of you

Robyn :woohoo: for Lucy starting to walk!

Deb I have no suggestions, but I know you will find something to keep you occupied :goodvibes

Beth thanks for the heads up on the 2cd book of Kingdom Keepers. I really enjoyed reading the 1st one & will look for this one :thumbsup2

Theresa I hope your headache went away

Jennifer I hope the girls sleep well for you tonight!

I'm so sorry, Stephanie! He is in my prayers.

Wow. I'm speechless. I can't begin to thank you for all the wonderful notes about my Dad. They moved him to another hospital about an hour ago. One with better cardiac care. They are discussing either a pacemaker or defibulator. I'm not happy with either choice. I'm not liking surgery on a 93 year old man. Plus, my FIL died while having a pacemaker put in. Scares me. I know it is only a 5% chance of something going wrong, but when you have already had someone die because they were one of the 5%, it's just really scary.

Currently they are running more tests to figure out which device they want to implant. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again from the bottom of my very grateful heart:love:

For Labor Day I am doing grocery shopping...

I need to do that, too.

At least they were found!!! Congrats to mom on finding them!

Glad you have your keys back!

Yes, it is the character spot directly across the street from TSM. There is a cute line queue with cut outs to take pictures in & then at the end buzz & woody are there on "andy's bed".

Cute! DS didn't want to stand in any lines for characters. Most of the time we were near TSM early in the morning before the greeting thing was open, then when we would go back to use our FPs the lines were crazy.

Anne Marie-:lovestruc love the new signature!! You are so creative.

The new siggie is awesome! I can't do siggie pics or avatars or any of that fun stuff.

I took DS to the music store to switch out the drum pad stand. We stopped at Dunkin' Donuts on the way home. :rolleyes1 Now he is drumming and I am eating donuts! :rotfl2: Haven't heard from DH this morning. I imagine he is busy.

We finished tieing down and putting up everything outside, so all that is left is the inside. I'm purposly taking my time with it, so that I have plenty to keep myself occupied.

We are under a hurricane warning, and evacutaion orders have been issued. But we will be staying put. We are in a very high location, so flooding is not a threat, it depends on the tides at the time of landfall how high the surge will be. Right now it's still beautiful outside, it's getting pretty breezy but I love a windy day.

They are shutting down my store at 1pm today and will keep it closed tomorrow to reopen Tuesday if possible. I'm not scheduled Tuesday but I will go in if I can to help out.

The traffic on the interstate has finally thinned out, but I'm sure it will be just as bad in the opposite direction after the storm.

I'll be grilling tonight, and fixing some of my frozen vegetables, gotta use up as much as we can.

Laundry is in process and should be finished this evening, everything needs to be clean in case we can't wash for a while.

Stay safe Debbie. :goodvibes

Love the pictures Anne Marie. So glad you had a great time, although wet.:goodvibes

Janet, :cool1: :cool1: for Gary's great work!!:cool1:

Bernadette-I am sorry that you are still in a funk. It sounds like it's going to be a hectic time at work!!

Jennifer-did you know that from 7-9 (at least at our store) there will be 70% off specific tags at Savers??

I need another round of prayers and Pixie Dust. Just before we lost power today I got a phone call from my dad. He is in Nashville at a square dance weekend, his "friend" is with him. He got up this morning and passed out, they took him to the hospital and they found he has a "sick sinus" and will be having a pace maker put in today.

I talked with his nurse and she assures me he will be fine, but will not be able to lift anything or drive for a while. He will be able to travel in a few days and his friend will be able to drive.

I hate that I can't be there with him, but it is absolutly impossible.

Bernadette,

I am sorry he doesn't like it like you do. Hope you can try going when its cooler & maybe he will enjoy it more then. It was nice seeing you & yep I am doing fine now thanks. I would love to see your pictures if you can email them to me. Thanks!

Good luck getting the pictures downloaded from your camera.:wizard:

I'm sorry DH isn't a Disney addict. :guilty: I guess I should be glad my DH loves WDW, even though that means I will probably never get to have a trip with just DS and me.
I loaded the last batch of pics from my laptop into PhotoBucket since I am out of blank discs. At least DH can access all of his pics from the desktop now. Well, not really, because he still doesn't understand PhotoBucket. But theoretically one can get to all of our photos through the desktop.

Stephanie, I am so sorry your dad is facing a surgery! TONS of good wishes for him, for you, and for your siblings as you get through this! :wizard:  We are all sending you lots of pixie dust and hoping for the best!

oh dear!!

color me confused though....how does a "sick sinus" (what is that anyway) lead to a pace maker??

I found my keys! welll, my mom did.. i looked EVERYWHERE, including the dumb places like the fridge, cabinets, etc. She found them on my brothers desk--i have no idea how they ended up in there though!

:yay:

Katie made us a yummy dessert last night that was really easy, so I thought I'd share with you all.

Easy Toffee

Line a cookie sheet with heavy duty foil and spray with Pam. Place a layer of saltine crackers on the cookie sheet. In a heavy saucepan, combine 1 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar and bring to a boil. Boil 3 minutes. Pour over saltines spreading to cover. Place in a 400 degree oven for 7 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with 1 bag milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips. Let sit a couple of minutes and then spread to coat. Place in fridge to harden, and then break in pieces.

Yummy!!!!

We made that a couple of years ago. My kids' 1st grade teacher (they all had the same one) told me she wanted the recipe for the toffee that I made with saltines. I told her that wasn't my recipe, but she insisted that I had made it. So, I did an internet search and made her a batch and gave it to her with the recipe. She said that she knew it was me (but it really wasn't).

Thanks..it was very choppy (almost like the ocean)..very stange to see.
Yes, I thought so, too! I don't think I took any pictures, though. I should have carried the camera more, but I didn't want everything getting soaked, and I refused to wear a poncho. I just don't like them.

Anne Marie love the new sig.

I really like the one in the middle of main street. Is that TS Faye coming in?

::yes:: I agree! ::yes::

I'm still in a funk. I think we had our last family trip. DH just doesn't enjoy Disney and that makes me cranky when I'm there with someone who isn't happy. He did enjoy meals on this trip which he hadn't always done and even a few things-mini golf, Living Seas, and Mission Space (green), and meeting DDA friends but was mostly miserable. He skipped 4 park days so I didn't have to buy him an AP but he HATED that even more than going to the parks. SO....I'll continue to go one on one with the kids but I don't see a family trip for a while. I do think he would like say Jan or Feb or Nov better than August but I'm ready for my next planned trip (Feb) to be without him.

I cut out an outfit for Emma's first day of school so I really have to go work on that.

I go back to work tomorrow and things are going to be crazy!!!! It is my crazy time anyways but my new supervisor's full time assistant had a baby while I was away and it would take too long to train a temp so my boss, I and another part timer will have to pick up her work for the next 12 weeks. I don't know how much I'll be able to check in.

Sorry the photopass link didn't work. Does anyone want me to email them the link?
 I'm sorry that you are still in a funk. I am, too, but I have to hide mine, because I was lucky enough to even go to WDW. My dh doesn't like it as much as I do either, and I remember plenty of complaints last time. This time he complained and made me feel guilty because he wasn't "invited." Can't win! I'm sorry that work is going to be crazy for you, too. At least you have a Feb trip to look forward to! Is that with one of the kids or by yourself?

I want to see the photopass pictures, please! You still have my e-mail, right?

 and lots of pixiedust: for you and your dad. It is definitely scary when someone you love is having surgery. 5% may be a small risk, but it is still there...try to focus on the 95% as much as you can. I will pray for that outcome, too, and for some calm for you.

It looks like you guys are doing OK in the storm. I hope the damage is minimal!

We lost power earlier but the guys have already been out and restored quite a bit of it, the transformer behind our house sounded like it exploded and sparks were shooting everywhere. It's still pretty nasty out there, and the water is still rising.

Steffy,

 I hope they make the right decision for your dad. The nurse told me that my dad's pump chamber was fine so he didn't need the defibrillator. And that usually after putting in the pacemaker people go home that same day, they are going to keep him overnight but he should be able to travel home in a couple of days.

Stephanie and Debbie - lots of PD for both your fathers. I hope the decisions by their doctors are for the best.

I don't know the official term, but your sinus ______ refers to what controls how fast your heart beats, since his is sick his heart slowed downed so much that he passed out. The pacemaker will shock his heart if it slows down below a certain rate.

The sinus node controls the beating of the heart and is the heart's natural pacemaker. It is basically a cluster of cells that can generate and electric impulse which then causes the heart cells to beat together. If the sinus node isn't functioning completely correctly, the heart can't beat right. Then they can install an artificial pacemaker to send the correct electrical signal.

I think I remembered most of that right...

What she said . . .

Thanks Beth

DH and I were in Epcot the day you saw Bernadette, we actually were on SE when it broke down with her DH and kids. We left there and went over to the land to get a FP for Soarin, so we probably just missed you.

okey dokey....now I get it.

By the way, there was a free dining pamplet in my room at Por which I just couldn't ignore:rolleyes1 so we are booked at the AS Music family suite 8/23-9/4 2009. This is tentative as if we do move to NC then the kids will already be back to school by then there so we may have to adjust things when we know whats going on.

Bernadette,
So how did you like/dislike ASMusic suites?
