DDA Chapter 11

Terry - your pictures are lovely. Great shots!

Elizabeth - how sad for your mom's doc. The family must be devastated.

Tia - good luck on the job search!

Jen - have fun! Will you be by yourself or do you have an asst? K classes around her have a TA for the first half of the day. How many kids do you have?

Debbie - the photopass cd arrived yesterday. Do you want me to mail it now or wait and see what Gustav does?

If you all could say a prayer for Kristen, a friend of mine from high school, I'd appreciate it. We lost touch after we both got married (her most recently, in 2006) and I just found out that her husband, Joel, has been battling lymphoma since January. He was set to undergo 'maintenance' chemo this fall (was in remission), but he had some awful symptoms the other day and went to the ED, only to find another large node/lesion. They didn't anticipate it recurring so quickly, but can't figure anything else that it could be. Needless to say, they're both pretty scared..:guilty:

That poor family!

Those are fabulous pictures! And I love the shorts on the boys -- too cute! You all look so happy!

Boy I'm exhausted. Thankfully football practice was canceled tonight, so I didn't have to rush through open house. We met the teachers, found the rooms and their desks and dropped of the supplies. Our school district has started a wonderful thing with an online lunch account. I can log in with my kids' number, see how much money is in their acct., add money to it, and see what they are buying at lunch. Plus there is a new online school site called schoolfusion, where you can log in to each classroom and get all sorts of info from the teacher. Anyone have a school district that uses it? I'm looking forward to it. From there we went to the ballet studio to get Alyssa a new leotard before class starts next week. Then home to showers and bed. I just now sat down to relax. I'm sure I'll be asleep before long.

Yes -- we can also do the lunch thing -- I just put a credit card on the account so they charge money on it when the balance gets below $10. I never have to worry about it the rest of the school year. Our school uses something called RenWeb for communication with the teachers. They don't start using a system like this until sixth grade, so this is the first I've used it. The teachers sent out notes about homework, projects etc., and we're required to read it and hit a link so they know we've read it. We can also log on to the site to get homework, syllabus, etc. Like Elizabeth said, I just hope all Andrew's teachers actually use it!

Good morning. :)

We are having another rainy day here. I guess I shouldn't complain because we REALLY need it.

Tonight Anne Marie and family should arrive in Fredericksburg, then we will have breakfast together tomorrow before they continue their journey. Safe travels, Anne Marie!

Have fun tomorrow. Safe travels to Anne Marie and her family!

morning evryone!
Im off to work on setting up my classroom! have a great day!

Have fun!

That's terrific, Heidi!

Have fun, Jen!

Why is it that my trip seemed so short and it feels like Anne Marie and Bernadette have been gone for months?
Breakfast sounds wonderful!

It's Friday! Nothing on the agenda today. The only activity Princess is doing for Fall is ballet, and it is just one afternoon a week. I need to talk to Momboss and be sure she doesn't want to add one more.

Mom's oncologist is back at work. She said his son died from a combo of street drugs and alcohol. He was supposed to leave for boot camp 2 days later so he was partying with his friends and he stopped breathing. :sad2: He was dead when the ambulance arrived. Poor oncologist spends every day trying to prevent people from dying (people who don't want to die, who are doing everything in their power NOT to die) and his son dies doing something stupid. Sad. I told Mom I do not want him coordinating her care if he is distracted but she said he seems OK. The young guy will oversee her first Taxol infusion because her regular guy is going on a cruise. He had the cruise booked before his son died, and I guess they have decided to go ahead and go. I hope he is able to find peace in all of this.

That poor family! Sending more PD to your mom for yesterday's infusion and a good weekend for her. When does she start the Taxol?

Good morning, DDA!

Thank you all for your messages of support yesterday. They really helped battle that guilt that I for some reason still held handing over the letter. I talked to Kristi's neighbor and that may be a possibility. I would be able to combine her with a friend of ours and probably be good. We're going to meet tomorrow and go from there. I also had a response from another family Kristi found on Craigslist. They are looking for 2 full days and 3 2hour days or 5 half days and have one 4yo boy. The timings for that job would work out really nicely for Terra and me and would also leave open the option to do MOPS. Plus, she seemed really excited about my email to her so that was nice too. Hopefully I will get a chance to talk to them today or tomorrow.

Sending more PD that something works out!

We're off to San Antonio and Sea World later today. If I don't kill my BIL before the weekend is over, it will be a successful trip! I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!

Have a great weekend.
Our school uses TeacherEase on the web to track the kids grades. There are other features, but the teachers don't appear to use them. That starts in sixth grade for us too. As for lunches we get a menu at the beginning of each month. I figure out how many lunches and milk the kids will be buying then send a check in for the monthly amount. It is usually pretty close as sick days/snow days mess it up some.

I guess I'd better get moving. I've created messes in the livingroom with the whole curtain update thing. Hopefully I can knock off that project this morning and take it easy this afternoon. Knowing me I'll just dig up another project though

Have a wonderful time Marci!

Ok I guess. I think my fever broke late yesterday (after thinking I took too many asprin but with 102.5 I needed to take them) and then had messed up dreams all night. Sleep wasn't the best (too hot, too cold, cat walked on me, cat sleeping on me, cat sleeping too close to my face, pillow too hot so I have to flip it) so when I actually wake up more I'm gonna hop into the shower and that normally makes me feel much better. I do have some running around to do today, but I don't plan on going anywhere until the floor stops spinning.

Since I got our photopass, I pulled a few off to share with you all. Feel free to skip past them.

Sorry they are so big.

Chanon - I hope the shower does the trick and that the worst is behind you.

Tammi those pictures are wonderful, you got some great shots! I'm still waiting on our cd, but I don't think my pictures will be as good as yours.

Thanks for sharing!

Aw, thanks Janet. I'm sure your pictures will be great. After all, you and the boys will be in them. :goodvibes

If you look in the first picture, Alyssa held her hand out in a test to see if Tink would appear in the picture. Goofy kid.

Thanks for all of the prayers for Joel and Kristen. They will get a biopsy of the node on Wednesday, and then wait some more for the results. I just can't imagine...

Janet, Kristine and I PMed and I was reminded that they'll (hopefully, if all goes/stays well!) be on their trip when we're in Chicago.

My mom had her 4th (and final) A/C infusion today. I need to call her.

Robyn - Your wish for an improved locker situation sure worked fast! DS just called and said they got lockers today and he does not have to share. He worked the lock several times and he says he is comfortable with it. I hope so!! He doesn't have any books yet. The science and math teacher have apparently told the kids their books will not go home except in special circumstances. If that's true then the math teacher might be copying sheets which would mean she does need paper. I'll think about it.

The kids have done nothing this entire week. DS tried to pay for his PE uniform with the cash today and the coach told him they aren't collecting the money yet. Well, Bonehead, WHY didn't you say something YESTERDAY when he tried to pay with the check? :headache: Silly.

Boy, Robyn is GOOD! I hope your mom is doing well after her infusion!

So, do you want to hear the latest in hurricane panic? I work in retail, and the company I work for took a big hit from Katrina. So they have decided that they are going into the stores that are in the danger zones and ship out a large portion of the inventory. So tomorrow morning there will be 8 trailers, and 30 or more workers from out of area stores there to start packing and shipping. Talk about a mess . . . . . ...

Gas has gone up .26 a gallon since yesterday morning and I'm sure it will continue to climb

The governor called again today, telling everyone to start preparing now.

Gustav has taken a more westerly turn, but it is way too soon to tell.

A mess is right! I hope everything passes quickly and smoothy, so the anticipation can ease up a bit around there! :grouphug:

Amy loved all the pictures :goodvibes

Robyn I think Emma going to Germany with the Grandparents is a wonderful opportunity for her, good luck with your decision!

I agree!

Sounds like lot os the DDA and their friends and family need hugs and pixie dust. I am sending all I have!

I am utterly exhausted. Too tired to even explain why. So I am going to go to bed and I will talk to you all in the morning. Have great evenings, friends!

I hope all is well this morning, Elin!

We're off to San Antonio and Sea World later today. If I don't kill my BIL before the weekend is over, it will be a successful trip! I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!

Have a wonderful and safe trip! I hope BIL doesn't make you too crazy! ;)

Sorry they are so big.

Tammi, those pictures are fabulous! I love the one of Nicholas and Alyssa in front of the castle.... they look like they like each other so much at that moment! ;) The one of all of you is great, too, but where's Tink in poor Alyssa's hands?! Are the 'action shots' from the waterpark? There are some great shots!

If you look in the first picture, Alyssa held her hand out in a test to see if Tink would appear in the picture. Goofy kid.

That answers my question above! ;)

I'm off to do some laundry, etc. We have to run some errands later, but Kyle is on call all night, so we have all the time in the world.

I've had lots of good surprises the last few days (upcoming trips, visitors, etc) which has been fun, but it's taking a huge toll on getting anything accomplished! The girls are still having major belly issues with each feed too, so my time is limited as it is since they're too uncomfortable to sleep well. :guilty: This too shall pass....

I hope you all have a wonderful day! It's almost the weekend! (Which means nothing for my family, but I'm sure it's encouraging to some! :rotfl:) :yay:

Take care!

So who is around today and wants to help me with a project?

I am going to make Jeff and Olivia fun books for the plane. I need to scan in some disney coloring book pages for Olivia. But what I need help is with Jeff's. I am thinking of doing some crosswords and word finds, along with some word scrambles and how many words can you make out of these words. I have my crossword questions typed in to word. I just want some opinions on them. Does any one want to help out?
