DDA Chapter 11

Elizabeth, hope your mom is doing good.

Mom just got the all is still good, see you in another 6 months from her cancer doctor.

Good morning. :)

We are having another rainy day here. I guess I shouldn't complain because we REALLY need it.

Tonight Anne Marie and family should arrive in Fredericksburg, then we will have breakfast together tomorrow before they continue their journey. Safe travels, Anne Marie!

That's terrific, Heidi!

morning evryone!
Im off to work on setting up my classroom! have a great day!

Have fun, Jen!

Have fun at breakfast tomorrow! I think Bernadette returned home yesterday, look forward to hearing about everyone's trip.

Why is it that my trip seemed so short and it feels like Anne Marie and Bernadette have been gone for months?
Breakfast sounds wonderful!

It's Friday! Nothing on the agenda today. The only activity Princess is doing for Fall is ballet, and it is just one afternoon a week. I need to talk to Momboss and be sure she doesn't want to add one more.

Mom's oncologist is back at work. She said his son died from a combo of street drugs and alcohol. He was supposed to leave for boot camp 2 days later so he was partying with his friends and he stopped breathing. :sad2: He was dead when the ambulance arrived. Poor oncologist spends every day trying to prevent people from dying (people who don't want to die, who are doing everything in their power NOT to die) and his son dies doing something stupid. Sad. I told Mom I do not want him coordinating her care if he is distracted but she said he seems OK. The young guy will oversee her first Taxol infusion because her regular guy is going on a cruise. He had the cruise booked before his son died, and I guess they have decided to go ahead and go. I hope he is able to find peace in all of this.

Terri, Amy and Jennifer - Love all of the pictures!

Heidi - Great news from mom's doctor! I hope things continue to go wonderfully for her.

Robyn - I agree with Deb's suggestion about calling and volunteering now for the next opportunity.

Tammi - Have a nice breakfast with Anne Marie and family! We had rain last night and it was great. :goodvibes:

Elin - Hope everything is okay!

Jen - Have fun setting up your class!

Good morning, DDA!

Thank you all for your messages of support yesterday. They really helped battle that guilt that I for some reason still held handing over the letter. I talked to Kristi's neighbor and that may be a possibility. I would be able to combine her with a friend of ours and probably be good. We're going to meet tomorrow and go from there. I also had a response from another family Kristi found on Craigslist. They are looking for 2 full days and 3 2hour days or 5 half days and have one 4yo boy. The timings for that job would work out really nicely for Terra and me and would also leave open the option to do MOPS. Plus, she seemed really excited about my email to her so that was nice too. Hopefully I will get a chance to talk to them today or tomorrow.

So I just got done writing bout 100 name tags, cutting out a ton of stuff and filling out paperwork--whew!!
Whew! Sounds exciting but exhausting.

I am glad you could see the pictures. That was almost 70 pictures in the space of about 35 minutes. Not bad for three little boys. I like the one of all of us since that was a one shot deal. My favorite was the one of the feet.
I loved the pictures, too!

I am finally home. I have read every single post and WOW were you all talkative!

Amy - the pictures of the kids were so cute. Thanks for posting them all!

Terry - what a handsome family you have. It looks as if that was a trip full of love and delight.

Tammy - I am glad Open House went well and teachers are good and football is going well. It is hard to believe Nicholas is old enough to play that sport!

Jennifer - YIPPEE for a trip to Chicago! I like your new signature collage.

Sounds like lot os the DDA and their friends and family need hugs and pixie dust. I am sending all I have!

I am utterly exhausted. Too tired to even explain why. So I am going to go to bed and I will talk to you all in the morning. Have great evenings, friends!
Welcome home! I hope that you feel less exhausted now.

Beth I'm glad that your results were normal though I would have had a coronary when I saw that bill :scared:

Work was better tonight. At least I came home in a good mood. I even got to the store and bought the new curtain rods. Now I can install and shorten the curtains tomorrow. Chris thinks I need to stop shopping. He is very happy with all the home improvements, but there is a rather large price tag that accompanies that. Of course I pointed out that if we had hired out the work it would have been MUCH more expensive :rolleyes1

Thanks! Yes, I did just about have a coronary and I was a little ticked at myself for not thinking that it could possibly cost so much and asking about it ahead of time. It is irresponsible of me, but I am glad that my trips were paid for and taken before we received that bill. I am going to arrange to make payments on it. That is like months of teaching preschool, and I was hoping to save toward another trip.

I am glad that work went better! We also need to do a lot of work around the house, and I'm starting a budget for that.

Hi Beth

:yay: for good results.

Thanks!

Elizabeth, hope your mom is doing good.

It's really raining here, too. The older kids are supposed to have cross country pictures (team and individual) taken this morning. Now I'm thinking I shouldn't have ordered any individual, because they probably will look like drowned rats.

That's terrific, Heidi!

Have fun, Jen!

It seemed like you were gone so long before I left, and my trip seems so short, too! I guess time goes faster when you are there than it does at home.

What a sad situation for your mom's oncologist. We had a family friend who died in an alcohol related motorcycle accident the night before he was to leave boot camp. He had a young pregnant wife at home, too. I try to tell my kids over and over that one, seemingly small lapse in judgment can really mean a life-changing tragedy. It's scary.

Good morning, DDA! I don't have much scheduled for today. I should go over and do a little at the preschool, but I don't feel very motivated in that direction.

Tia, you were one of the ones that I forgot to respond to yesterday. You definitely need to think of you and your family ahead of that toxic family. I understand the guilt, but you are completely right. I wish you the best lining up your new job! It sounds like you have options that are much healthier, and I know you will do great.

Oh how tragic. I cannot imagine the grief that the family is going through :sad1:

How did Momboss take the news? I'm sure you'll find something. There are always families around here looking for daycare. I had several people ask me yesterday and I'm not doing daycare :confused3

Have one last day to relax. You'll be at school soon enough and I'm sure you'll spend more time there than you should have too :teacher: I agree about paying the bill over time. I'm still paying on all the tests that I had done on my back a couple of years ago. That was an unforseen bill and with our high deductible we had to pay for the whole thing. In fact just going for my yearly GYN appointment left a bill of nearly $300 :sad2: That's when I remembered why I only go every 3 years. We certainly need a better and more affordable healthcare system in the US.

How sad

I had looked forward to sleeping in this morning since the kids don't have school. Our cat put a nix on that as Chris caught him peeing on Hunter's backpack  We have no idea why he does these things from time to time. So Chris emptied that backpack and rinsed it in the tub, but felt the need to wake me and tell me about it. Apparently he wasn't sure if he could throw it in the washer or if he could use soap

I couldn't agree more!
