DDA Chapter 11

Track and Field at the Olympics had a hard day. both men and women's relay teams dropped the baton. (That was the news, didn't see it)

I need to print out some photos of Colby doing things relating to "water" which is the classroom theme for this year. Since my kids might as well have gills I think I can dig up a photo or two :lmao:

A couple of hours :scared: You go girl :cheer2:

Thanks, the plus side is I think I'm really going to like this new gym, the equipment is much more up to date, and with individual tv's on each of the elipticals and treadmills I just plug in the headphones and watch tv, it makes the time fly by.

Now if I can just figure out how to work the strength training machines :confused3

Lindsay - I phoned The Maids because that is who my cousin in KC uses. I expected them to be expensive, and they are. Our apartment would be $93 + Tax every week and it's only 1100 square feet! Every other week would be $116. My bosses don't pay that much for their house, and they have more than 1100 square feet! But the lady they use isn't that thorough, either! The lady who cleaned for the boss I had before Brother & Sister was awesome, but it has been almost 5 years since I saw her so I have no clue if she still cleans. :confused3 I also don't know how to get in touch with her.

Yikes - that is really high for your square footage. Of course, I'm sure as with everything, the price has likely gone up to absorb the cost of gas for these people driving to all the different houses.

Just a fly by post with an update...All the tests showed no problems with my mom's heart. :yay: That is such a relief as her dad died from a heart attack at age 47. The doctors think that it is either acid reflux or stress related.

Emma met her teacher today and likes her a lot!! I think she has a good class too.

I just got back from 2 1/2 hours at Gail's just hanging out. It was nice to just chat and get away from my house for a bit. I am now headed out to our parent meeting for Emma's Girl Scout troop.

Have a great night.

What wonderful news, and I'm glad you got some down time.

Man....I did my mom's house every other week for $80 (I love deep cleaning...espescially other people's houses). It's too bad I don't live closer to you 2.

I would hire you in a second - and pay you more than that! :goodvibes

That's the thing - if I could find someone that really DID the deep cleaning, I would have no problem paying it (and it's not like Jonathan and I make big messes to begin with). But, I saw the maids in action enough to know that they weren't being thorough - and that was when I was at home observing!

So, when it rains it pours,
I got home this afternnon to find my AC frozen solid. So now I have a dishwasher and an AC that need to be fixed. The dishwasher will be replaced, they don't cost enough to warrant paying to have an old one repaired, and the AC man will be here tomorrow afternoon. :headache:

Let's not even talk about losing the money that I had paid at the gym that closed and paying a new fee last night to sign up at the new one.

Can someone please pass the Calgon?

I'm so sorry, Debbie. I agree with Deb, hopefully that's the last bit of bad news for you!

I about fell over when I opened our electricity bill today - our bill (which in our 4 years in our house has never been more than $350 in some really bad summers) was over $600 for this month! There is absolutely no freaking way that could be right - we have an automatic thermostat that raises the temp when we're not at home, we haven't changed any of our habits, etc. Last month was hot, but not enough to warrant a 275% increase over the previous month's usage. I'm foaming at the mouth to call our electricity provider in the morning. I'm thinking there has to be somethng wrong with the meter.

Hi Guys,

Well I flew this past my Devils Advocate-- Stephanie and she liked it so I sent my reply to the "Nice & Bright" guy :lmao:

Mr L,

I would like to thank you for your apology.

I must however, disagree with the wording of your letter.

1. The most important matter is the fact that the young lady DID run over my husband's foot. She could have hit his leg since she was close enough to run over his foot.
She sure was 'nice and bright' while she was shaking her head saying "Nuh huh" when we told her she did in fact run over his foot. That was not the time to be 'nice and bright'

2. Her first action should have been to immediately apologize, offer to get help, ice or whatever was needed to rectify her neglect.

3. She should not be allowed to drive the golf cart anymore. I cannot even begin to wonder what would have happened if a child had been with us and decided at that moment to jump around or if she had actually hit my husband's leg or hit someone much older with more force. This must be addressed to everyone who drives the golf carts.

Regards,

Mrs H

lets see what happens now

Nice job, Terry. Firm, but respectful. I hope he responds, and that's it's appropriate.

I'm also sorry to hear about the aggravation your son put you through!

The orange loaf is delicious. We had to cut into a loaf as it just smelled so goooood :goodvibes Chris described it as an orange flavored corn bread as the consistancy is much like cornbread. It is not as good as Disney's, but good none the less

Orange Bread

If anyone finds the recipe for the bread at Tusker House, I would love to have it.

I'm glad it turned out well, Deb. It sounds delicious! I didn't get any of that bread when we ate at TH in May, and now I'm wishing we had an ADR there in December!

Glynis - congrats to Jacob!

Jennifer - safe travels to SA tomorrow.

Jen - lots of :wizard: :wizard: that the phone rings with good news tomorrow!

I can't believe my little man will be 6 tomorrow, here he is acting all cool, he was in a wedding, it was outside by the water and the dress was more casual so he didn't mind being in this one. He wasn't too happy when he had to wear a tux,

I would love to have you cone to Virginia when you are done in Texas. I might be persuaded to have you come every week!

Terry - I think your letter to the manager is well thought out and articulate.

I think your son was downright rude not to call you!

Where is everyone hiding tonight?

I was out to dinner with Bob and Kristin. We sat outside and shared lots of small plates and a bottle of wine. It was delightful! Now I am trying to catch up here!

Debbie and Deb - I loved the pictures of your little men!

Today was the last day of summer classes for us. :yay:

Next week we have our free introductory lessons for new fall claqsses and I also have to attend a state board meeting for the Virginia Federation of Music Clubs. I will be gone Wednesday and Thursday and then classes start up again on September 2! This summer flew by!

Robyn yay for good news about your mother! Glad you were able to enjoy a little time away today.

Debbie sorry to here about all the extra expenses, seems like everything happens at once. Your grandson shares a birthday with Riley, he turns 12 tomorrow :goodvibes

Deb the orange bread recipe looks good, I will have to see if my friend can make it for me(no oven for me for a while!).

Glynis hope Jacob had a fun evening!

Elizabeth I hope you get things figured out with ds

Jen :wizard: for a call tomorrow!

Terry I think you did wonderful with your reply letter, I hope you hear something in return. Glad your son made it to Fl. safely, sorry you were left to worry so long though.

Theresa your weekend with Glynis sounds like a wonderful getaway, I hope you are able to come home with a clearer head

Lindsay we have a birthday coming up Monday, I will be 29(I have a certificate from Goofy's Candy Co. to prove it :rotfl: ), how about you lol Do you have any plans? Gary & I will probably just go out to eat.

Sorry if I missed anyone, & :wizard: !

I am not finding anything interesting to watch on the Olympics tonight. It may be just that I very tired from staying up so late the past week to watch swimming and gymnastics. I think I will go to bed a little earlier tonight. See you tomorrow, everyone!
