DDA Chapter 11

For just under $760,000 I can buy enough points to stay the other 51 weeks of the year in an AKV concierge studio. Added to our current one week of points that covers us for the entire year. For the next 49 years. What a BARGAIN! I bet if I buy resale I can shave a little more off the price, too.

Actually, if you think about it.... that is pretty reasonable for some. For under $1,000,000 you get a decent-sized place to live with no housecleaning, some food and a lovely living room!

However, I think I remember that people in RVs are not able to live year round at Fort Wilderness because of state laws. I wonder if there are any laws like that for staying in a resort?

I woke up singing this song today:

"I won't grow up,
----I won't grow up
I don't want to go to school.
----I don't want to go to school"

:rotfl:

Good morning...

Hope everyone that is off to school today has a great 1st day!!

Steffy- You and your dad remain in my prayers. :wizard:

Debbie- I am so relieved that Gustav was not as bad as once feared. :wizard: for your dad. I am glad to hear that he is on the mend.

Kristine- Lots of good thoughts and :wizard: for Bill.

Elizabeth- I am loving all the pics you posted! Tell your DH he did a fabulous job!!

Bernadette- I am sorry you have the Disney Blues.'s

Becky- Welcome home!

Elin- We'll need 2 rooms!

Tammi- Have fun planning the cruise!

Jen- Enjoy your meetings today and setting up your very own classroom.

Deb- I love the Humpty Dumpty costume!

Marci- I am glad you enjoyed your weekend away.

Glynis- Yay for getting the boys' room painted.

Janet- Your kitchen is going to be fabulous!!

's and :wizard: to those I missed!!!

Prayer request please! My grandmother is terminally ill and not expected to make it longer than a week or so at most. We are planning to drive to Mississippi this weekend with the kids for one final visit (let's hope the rain from Gustav is gone by then). Obviously, if her health declines faster, we will leave during the week. The funeral will be in Huntsville, AL. This is really rough on the kids (and all of us). Thanks for the prayers.

Denise, prayers and pixiedust: for all of you! I hope that you can find a little sweet in all the bitter and also that the weather clears for you.

Beth said it so eloquently! Denise, your family is in my prayers!

That was one of my problems with the bigger camera, too. It was inconvenient to keep it in the bag and pull it out all the time, but it was annoying to have it around my neck all the time. I still want a dSLR someday, but I really do see the convenience of the smaller cameras, too. Then there was all that rain...

Laura had to read Lord of the Flies for her summer reading. Since I never read it, I thought I'd check it out. Boy, that is one dark, disgusting novel!

I hated that book, but one of my favorite pieces I have ever written (and the only one I think I saved (somewhere) from my AP English classes) was on Lord of the Flies + Heart of Darkness!

I'm Home! I got home around 8:30pm.

Sorry you had to come back to reality! ;)

Yes, but not because I didn't want to kill him! ;)

We were talking with someone who said they had passed more than 30 Dallas County school buses on Saturday that looked to be going down to the coast. Well, we saw them today headed back to Dallas. They were helping with the evac. We also talked to someone from Lake Charles, who left SA, went home, tied everything down, put up boards, and then went back to the resort. How scary!

Welcome home!

Am I the only one (edit: I see Elin is on board!) that doesn't think that sounds bad at all? Of course, you didn't mention maintenance fees and dues............. that's not included in your price is it? I'm sure that would be the kicker!

Tammi - Have fun planning your land & sea vacation! I am still not sold on the cruise, and DH is WAY not sold on the cruise. The Adventures itineraries seem horribly expensive, even factoring in that it is Disney. Yes, I priced the trip to China, but I priced a couple of the domestic ones, too. ;)

Tammi, I missed it! Did you book one?! I want to cruise again :( You will have so much fun!!! (However, did you book a land and sea, or just a cruise and you'll do your own land planning? It's definitely cheaper if you do the latter).

I knew I missed something big...

Denise, your family will remain in my prayers. Prayers for comfort and peace.'s

I think there is some law about FL residency if you stay a month or longer? I never paid close attention, but I do think there is some sort of rule about that.

Jennifer - You are right. The $760K was JUST to buy the points. It would be another $38,000 PER YEAR in dues, and that cost is not locked in so it would go up every year. That's why the initial cost didn't sound bad. :rotfl2:

Ahh, I knew it was too good to be true! :rotfl:

Good morning, DDA!

I forgot that I needed to reserve my 2 rooms in the DDA house so consider me on board. ;)

I managed to knock 12 things off of my to do list this weekend plus finalized 27 pages of my spreadsheet. Yes, it's big. There are 35 pages in all, but that includes lists of snack options, kids meals, entertainment schedules, packing lists, etc. I also managed to find most of the threads I was looking for. Of course, I found even more that are interesting and I want to check out today, but what can I say. There are a bunch of very creative people around here!

Not much on tap for today otherwise. Just some laundry and general house cleanup that I hadn't been able to help with as much lately due to work.

Bernadette, Anne Marie & Beth I sent you all a PM with my email address, I would love to see your pictures!
Sending now.

Well, I feel really good today. I finally bought return airfare for Terry and my Mousefest trip. I knew the airfare would go down. Just knew it. I don't know if it was a holiday special or what. But it was $177 for the two of us...:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: So we're coming home from Disney in December...:goodvibes :cool2:
:dance3: :yay: :yay:

Beth, Bernadette and Anne Marie - I would love to see your photopass pics.
Sending now.

Summer is officially over. The pool is closed. School starts tomorrow. Homework. Lunches. Bedtimes. Activities. Blech.
Oh so TRUE!!!!!:sad2:

So I was talking to Bob yesterday about the Adventures by Disney trips. He said "I thought the next thing was a cruise?" Let the planning begin!!!!! I'm thinking a week in WDW followed by a 3 or 4 night cruise.
Wow cool!! I'd be glad to help (with my limited cruise knowledge) but just let me know.

I woke up singing this song today:

"I won't grow up,
----I won't grow up
I don't want to go to school.
----I don't want to go to school"

:rotfl:
Love it!
