Here's a cool little dress for Emma and top for Lizzy. These were super quick to make.

Here's Lizzy's Pooh hat:

And Joe's hat in progress. I need to make a label for the inside "if lost please call....." as he has already lost several hats at Disney. I bought the patches on my May 2006 trip. I'll use the red with black Mickey head fabric for the lining.

Beth, nice pictures. Can't believe you went up in the arch. :scared1:

Janet -- I hope it's MAGICAL and you guys have the best time!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! It was a very quick trip, but lots of fun. The Atlantis is gorgeous, and the boys loved digging in the sand, going down the slides and lazy river, and staring at the tanks of fish, sharks, manta rays etc.

Learn from my mistake -- don't go out of the country for four days, as one and a half of them are spent waiting on international flights, and standing in lines for customs, immigration etc.

Have a great day everyone!

Thank you!

Glad to hear you all had such a good time!

Congrats on the new luggage! You're going to Disney tomorrow!!!!

The luggage I bought holds a little more than I thought! So now I will only be checking 2 pieces of luggage :thumbsup2 I have packed everything we need into our carry on for our 1st night & next day. I will pack a few snack items in the bag you got for me. I think we are good to go :yay:

I just have a few more things to check off my packing list & I am done :woohoo:

I do please.

It's on the way! Anne Marie I sent yours as well :thumbsup2

I forgot to update my cell number before I sent it, so I PM you my correct number.

Jen & Terry I will need to PM you my number as well.

Bernadette I love the shirt you made for Joe! All the outfits look wonderful :thumbsup2

Beth,
Nice pictures so far. Are you ready for Disney?

Thanks! NOOOOOOO!!!! I don't think I'm going to make it! Well, I will, obviously, but with less prepared than I'd like. I had plans for great daily trip journals for the kids for our trip out West, but I never finished those, either. And the trip was still wonderful, so I guess I just need to scale back a bit. Hey, if I don't get packed, does that mean we get new wardrobes?

you guys are the best-it alwayas makse me feel better coming to post here..

Beth-great pictures so far!!

Thanks!

Beth - What a nice set of pictures from your first couple of days. I am looking forward to more as you have time. :)

Thank you! We live in a beautiful country!

Beth, I LOVE the pictures. You're going to make me sooooo jealous, as we've wanted desperately to do a trip like that..... minus the White Castle, though. Blech! :rotfl:

Thank you! I liked White Castle, but I didn't feel the need to go more than once. I think of the new places that we tried, Sonic was our favorite.

Beth...

your Arch pictures bring back memories.....when Jonathan was in 8th grade I was part of a group of 5 that supervised 50 kids on a Springfield St. Louis trip...I will never forget going up in that darn Arch...for some reason...all 5 of us adults go into one car...as you said it is cramped...rickety & dark...at one point in the dark I heard a muffled cry from one of the fathers, "Dear Lord, get me out of here" :rotfl2::rotfl2:

That was my last long trip that I did as a chaperon!!

I think I was ok, because it looked even smaller from the outside than it really was, so I was actually relieved to fit through the door and in the seat. Plus there are 5 of us which is the exact number the tram seats, so it was only my family. Laura needed to do some serious deep breathing while we were in there, though, and would have walked down any number of stairs to get out if that had been a possibility. I can see why your days of chaperone were over after that, though!

Terry & Jen I sent you the DDA Info!

Jen good luck tomorrow :wizard:

Beth great start to your TR, love the pictures!
Thanks! Have a wonderful trip! I still can't believe that it is time for the August trips!

Great photos! I'm still upset the my FIL wouldn't let me go up in the Arch. Guess I've got to go back.

Definitely go back, but don't worry too much about what you missed. It was fun, but it was also crowded and the windows were little.

Here's Joe's shirt for Chef Mickey's-the yellow is actually very bright-he won't get lost in this.

Eleven nights & ten wonderful days :goodvibes

Yay! Have a great trip!

Thank you! I liked White Castle, but I didn't feel the need to go more than once. I think of the new places that we tried, Sonic was our favorite.

I do like Sonic, and Chick-fil-A of course.... it's so odd to me that all of those were "new" experiences! :rotfl: I knew White Castle was fairly regional (plus Krystal (sp?) elsewhere), but definitely not Sonic! Did you get a shake from there?

I broke down and called the doctor's office. They were able to get me in today, and I have already filled the prescription for the antibiotic ear drops.

Good! You should be feeling better in no time :wizard:

Bernadette, how adorable will your clan be?! :goodvibes
Thanks! Think you'll take up sewing? Just think of all the cute stuff you could make!!!!

Bernadette, cute, cute, cute.
Thanks!

No Sonics around here. The only Cick-fil-A I've been to is at MCO.

We definitely don't have any Sonics near here. The closest one to us is 126.7 miles away in Palmyra, PA. We did have a shake, and it was delicious. My favorites, though, were the fruit juice slushes. I've never heard of Krystal...guess I'll have to find one of those somewhere now. We also went to Culver's on the trip which I hadn't heard of until someone here mentioned it a few weeks ago. We live in a kind of "backwards" area, but even Buffalo and Syracuse don't have Sonic or Chick-fil-A.

Bernadette,
I am going to quiz you about the family suites when you get back (or while you are there!:rotfl: ) I am looking at this for next summer if we go. I like the 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms...it wasn't an issue when the kids were younger but now it is....also after doing the cruise & seeing how great it was to have our own room really made me give the suites a good look.

I read a rumor that part of CBR might be suites but now I do not see anything on that at the new pirate themed rooms so I guess not. That would have been cool.

The cabins at FW are now priced as moderates. Would that be an option for you? There is only one bathroom, but there is a bedroom and a trundle bed in the living room. They are fairly spacious and very quiet.

I don't have time to write up a trip report, but I thought I'd share a couple of photos from our first 2 days.

Day 1 was basically just a long day of driving from home to Dayton, OH. We stopped in Erie, PA for lunch at Chick-Fil-A (first time for all of us), but I didn't take any pictures. Sorry. I really enjoyed it, but the rest of the family didn't think it was all that great.

The kids in our first hotel room (Country Inns and Suites-Dayton North)

Our "healthy" dinner that evening. Also a first for us. YUM!
IMG_7604.jpg

The next day we drove to the St. Louis area. Our hotel was a Fairfield by Marriott in Fairview Heights, IL. It took about 20-30 mins from there to the Arch.

There goes Indianapolis...
IMG_7611.jpg

Our first view of the Arch. It's there...you have to look for it. ;)

Our first view of the Mississippi River as we cross it.

Here is the Arch a bit closer.

IMG_7651.jpg

The impossibly small door to our tiny tram. It appeared smaller than it really was, because I fit with no problems.
IMG_7664.jpg

This gives you a little feel for the size of the tram and the "trapped" feeling you have while in it. It also looks a little old and worn and makes clunking noises and jerks. Laura really doesn't like being trapped and doesn't rate this experience as a highlight of the trip. The rest of us thought it was great!

We made it to the top!

I never knew you could go to the top of the arch. That sounds and looks like something we'd love to do.

I love the outifits, but especially the shirt for Joe.

I broke down and called the doctor's office. They were able to get me in today, and I have already filled the prescription for the antibiotic ear drops.

That was a very wise decision. I hope you feel better very quickly. It seems that swimmer's ear is running rampant. My niece just had it and one of my co workers currently has one. No fun there.

Hope the drugs kick in quick!:wizard:

No Sonics around here. The only Cick-fil-A I've been to is at MCO.

I kind of wish there were a topical pain reliever in the drops. I think I'll go take some ibuprofen. I am sure that I will feel better by tomorrow, but no swimming at my parents' house, I guess.

I will have to check out that Chick-Fil-A at MCO! I didn't realize there was one there.

Sonic makes nice salads, too. I had a grilled chicken one that was great. We weren't impressed with the onion rings...not enough onion flavor. The Lemon, Lemon-berry, and Lime real fruit slushes, though, were what would bring me back over and over again if I had the chance.
