DDA Chapter 10

Well, I had better get dressed. I've got to run and get tortillas for lunch. We need something quick as Kaylin's birthday party is here today. It was supposed to be a swimming party, but this morning has been rainy and thundery. Seems to have cleared out some though so maybe the swimming will be a go.

Have a good day everyone! Since I haven't heard anything otherwise, I'm headed to work in the morning and thus a little less catching up time. The girls start school in about two weeks so hopefully things will ease up then. The internet at the house will be more accessible. Plus, if they end up going to the church's school I may be spending more time at our house. I just can see driving 25-30 min north, then back to 2 miles from my house, then back north, back again and back again. It would be 100-125 miles a day that way. I guess we'll see where they are going to school (yes as of a week ago that was still undecided and school starts on the 13th or 18th depending on the decision) and go from there.

I hope that the birthday party wasn't a washout and that tomorrow morning goes smoothly.

No kidding! This morning, we can't keep either of them on their gym mat when they're on their bellies :rotfl: It's especially funny when they're mad and kicking.... then they can really propel themselves!

I don't think Lucy moved off of her gym until 4 months. Your girls want to go places!!!

Sounds like a great day, yesterday!

I'm so happy that Dana's problem is not heart related! I'm sure it was really scary for her. You are a great friend to be there for her!

It was and I realize that I need to spend more one on one time with the girls.

I have to be at work in 45 minutes. I suppose that I should get ready. I'm not really feeling much like working. We spent a few hours this morning working on cutting wood. I started raining so that ended. We also found a newborn baby bird on the forest floor. No other babies, or the parents or the nest around :confused3 We ended up taking it to VINS which is a local bird reserve. They are going to take care of it until it is ready to be release. The kids were so happy to help save the little guy. It was too young to determine what kind of bird it was. The kids named him "Lucky"

It looks like we may be heading to Hershey, PA for a vacation next summer. The kids want to go to Hershey Park and my brother wants to hit the Nascar race at Pocono. The race is today this year, so I'd assume it will be the same weekend next year. Anyone up for a Hershey Park meet?:confused3

We'd be up for it!! Is that the race on June 7th?

Robyn glad to hear all is well with your friend!

Jen glad you were able to get a goods night sleep!

Deb a vacation to Hershey Park sounds like fun, happy planning!

Anne Marie you have plenty of time to pack, don't stress to much!

Thanks!!

Here was today's project! I first tried glue and staples - and that didn't work so I broke out the needle and thread. Kept the staples in on Bob's hat and it seems to work just fine! Since he really doesn't wear a hat on rides at Disney, I think we'll be OK. Mine has metal loops attached to the ears and we just poked those through the hat and then used a needle and thread to finish it off. Cut the bow in half - it was too much. (Though anything pink to me is too much, but I couldn't remove the bow and flower without damaging the ears...)

Those are too cute!! And they got a huge thumbs up from Mo. She saw them as I was scrolling through and said (with her hand over her mouth and a big smile) "they are "just beautiful"

I'm exhausted...I am down to only 1 kid....and she is being a major pill!!:sad2:

I said something she didn't like...and my littlest child said, "Talk to the booty, cause the hand is off duty" while sticking her little butt out at me. wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry

:rotfl2: I feel your pain. Although you're a pro at this by now. ;)

did you guys hear about that absolutely gruesome murder on a greyhound bus?

few times have I heard a story whereas I thought I would scream...this was one

:sad1: So sad and absolutely heart wrenching.

Hello, DDA! I haven't had much time to read here, and I really starting to feel a little panic about how quickly the 13th will be here! But I must admit that I took a good chunk of last night and today to read Breaking Dawn, the newest "Twilight" book. I am taking it a little easy today because I think I have otitis externa (swimmer's ear), and it hurts. I guess I'll be calling the doctor's office tomorrow. I HATE going to the dr.

Also, I realized that I never ordered my Rewards card from Disney Visa. I don't really have much on there right now, but every little bit helps, right? Does anyone know if you can get a Rewards card at WDW? I thought I read that once, but I can't find the information now. It takes 2-3 weeks to order one, and I don't have that time any more.

I hope things are going well for everyone! I am going to try to find some time tomorrow to start going through vacation photos. Then I'm off to my parents' house for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

I think that we won't have any special, matching shirts for our trip (Laura will be thrilled!), but maybe I can pull off a couple. We still haven't told Miles yet. I am toying with waiting until we are leaving for the airport, but he may need a little time to adjust to the fact that dh isn't going. I need time to go into super slow motion for just a little while.

I hope your ear feels better.:wizard:

I asked her over dinner where she heard that phrase....guess where?.....Hannah Montana!! So much for "wholesome" tv

Have you seen the new photos on the web.

Be safe, Tammi! I hope this week goes quickly for you!

Ditto!!

I haven't been reading all the stories about her...but I did look at these pics....I can't quite figure out what direction she's trying to go....and that someone isn't reigning her in

Have you seen the new photos on the web.

Ditto!!

It's been a very sad week here. There was a triple murder about 10 miles from our house. Earlier in the week, there was a big man hunt overnight to find the man in camouflage with an assault rifle who killed three teens and injured a 4th. Roads were shut down, homes were evacuated and everything. They caught him but last I knew we didn't have any details on the reason for the murders. There were about a dozen kids hanging out at a popular swimming area and 3 ended up dead. Very sad for our community. The girls knew some of the kids in passing. So sad!! What would cause a man to dress up in camouflage and shoot down teenagers like that? :confused3

I read all about that and wondered if it was near you all, Vicki.

Very Cute. I can't wait to see them on you.

That is horrible. I can't imagine what the community is going through. Did you have to evacuate?

I have been busy preparing for the big team Friends & Family Picnic/Camping Weekend that my team is sponsoring next weekend. Our team gets together every year with our families for a picnic/camping weekend. There are 8 of us. Usually 3 or 4 of us camp and the rest join us for Saturday.

With the big project I'm working on, my staff have gotten to know a lot of the 186 people in our division statewide. They all talk about how they want to come to the U.P. sometime. We decided to have a Division wide Picnic/Camping Weekend instead. We have 10 additional staff coming with their Families. Not bad for a first time. Some of these people are driving 8 hours to come for the weekend.

We'll see how it goes this year. We are talking about having it either in the Eastern UP or Lower Peninsula next year.

Wow, you've bit off a big chore with a group outting that. We did it 3 years with the cub scouts and each year it got bigger. It was fun, but very stressful and lots of work. I hope that yours goes off as well as ours did and that you get to enjoy it without working the entire weekend.

Deb- I would love to go to Hersheypark with your family

Kristine- I had heard that before and not from the same source. Even the Disney channel shows have 'tude in them.

Vickie- Sounds like fun, I would love to come.  to the town, hopefully whoever is caught.

Today my Aunt picked up my shirt and socks at the 5k/10k event since I was unable to attend. Then we went out to On the Border for lunch. She then proceeded to ask me to be her maid of honor in her wedding next October. Although I accepted and am honored it will probably cause issues with my other Aunt. It is Asian themed as my Uncle to be is from Japan. So I gotta kick the weight loss into full gear. This is a bit hard with my gimpy foot.

I came home for a bit and went to Hersheypark, wheelchair, crutches and all. I saw Bowser's Rock and Roll party and the other acts at his show. The best one was the Comets, from Bill Haley and the Comets. The drummer was 85, Upright bassist was 75, and saxophonist was 74. The guitarist and keyboard player were not original members. I hope to be as active as they are when I get to their ages.

I got a bunch to do before the trip. So hopefully I get everything done. My parents still need to figure out if they need another suitcase or two. My brother and I have the wheeled duffle bags we used last year.

I was hoping that you'd say that. :yay:

We'd be up for it!! Is that the race on June 7?

We would do the Early August race as the kids are still in school in early June. I'm not sure of the exact dates, but I'll post as soon as we know. It will be so much fun to meet DDAers:cool1:

The restaurant was busy tonight which was a pleasant suprise. Unfortunately the owners were not prepared and we ran out of lots of things. Overall it was fine. We are definitely seeing a trend with people not ordering drinks, appetizers or desserts. The overall bills are lower, and the tips are much much less than a year ago. My first party of 3 tonight had a bill of $66.29 and left $70. Thats about $1.25 per person :sad2: Thankfully most people do not tip that poorly

I dont think hershey is to ofar from me..road trip!

I don't think that it is too far from you. It is about 9 hours from us so I'm thinking 4 hours from you :confused3 Hershey is fun and the factory tour is so yummy

 What a horrible thing! I have no idea what makes people behave like that.

night all,
getting up early in the morning to go get the AC on the Van fixed, hopefully.

I'm headed to bed. The boys start swimming lessons in the morning. A good portion of my day for the next 2 weeks will be given up to pool time. I am also scheduled to work the next 3 nights. I guess I'll be busy.

Night all

I'm off to bed, too. Got to take the kids back to school clothes shopping. Closets have been gone through, so now we know what we need. I can't believe school starts 3 weeks from tomorrow! Where did the summer go?

Bernadette - Emma's hat is adorable!
Thanks!

Bernadette - great new creations.
Thanks!

Thanks to Bernadette for showing the hat pattern over on the disboutique board. Leighanna is sadly outgrowing her bows and pigtails:sad2: , but she loves to wear hats!
Thankfully she is still a girly girl, so I could make hers with flowers and she will wear it!

So cute! Love the girly colors and polka dots!!! Leighanna is cute as ever but looking so big!

Nicholas and Bob are at the movies. They went to see Journey to the Center of the Earth. Alyssa and I had no desire to see that so we went shopping to get their dad his bday present. Then we stopped and got a movie. She picked out Little House on the Prairie and we are watching that now. I also got my new cell phone today so now I need to read up on the instruction booklet.
Congrats on the new phone. I need to go look for one for DH before our trip as his isn't holding a charge as well as it should.

Good thing Elizabeth isn't here to ride your for not packing ;) You'll get what you need done and I am sure you'll get some of what you want done too!

I love it!! and the fact you took the picture in your van cracks me up!

Emma and I are finally going to see Kit Kittredge tomorrow morning.
Maybe I could use her here to ride me.;) Thanks for the compliment on the hat. I need to do something about my Mac-it is so slow when I open iPhoto-probably because I have about 25,000 photos-I need to get an extra hard drive to put them on. It is easier to take a photo with my phone and email it to myself. My phone does best in the direct sun so the car worked well-and fit with the theme!

I have all my clothes left to pack & some odds & ends. I washed all my tops today that I want to take & they are hanging up to dry. So when they are dry I can pack for myself.

Sounds like you are going to be one busy person sewing!
Sounds like your doing great! I'll be busy! My MIL is having her floors refinished so she wants to stay at our house a few nights while we're gone-guess I'll have to fit in house cleaning to the list of things to do too.

I have shirt designs to print out and then iron on. The shirts are dyed, wash and dried. They just need to iron ons. I also to gather my stuff to start packing. I need to organize the swap stuff. Get my fish extender stuff together.

I have to do a lot of this this weekend in order to make headway for my trip. As next weekend I have the kick off. That is my last weekend before I leave.
Hope you were able to get a few things done.

If I am figuring right, it is going to cost me around $50 more to upgrade the boys one day base tickets
Janet-be sure to use the tickets before you upgrade-that way you'll get full current value of that one day!

Very nice. It will certainly help with the heat:thumbsup2

You have many more trips to look forward to. Just finish up what you've started and try to relax a bit. You've already made so much.
Thanks! And thanks for the reminder not to stress. Now that Joe's shirt is done I'll just see what else I can finish and not stress about it.

Colby went to bed a little while ago. He wasn't in there long when he came out with his Donald Stuffy. Donald had a big hole in his tummy. I performed surgery and stiched him up. All is well in Colby's world again. Maybe I can get to bed soon :rotfl2:
Glad Donald pulled through well!

I will update my trip report soon. Today wasn't bad. It was rainy, which sucked because I was in sandals that shouldn't get wet and DH decided to bring ONLY his camera with him to MK - no bag! :scared1: Newbie mistakes from people who know better. :sad2: We also managed to leave all 3 cell phones in the room, which was REALLY stupid. Luckily there were no voice mails when we got back tonight. Loved dinner at CA Grill! AKL is great so far. Loving concierge, never want to go without it again! I took a few pics today, mainly of food, will post in the TR when I get around to it! Trading tons of pins! :)
How fun to hear from you from WDW!!!!

Have your DH carry a gallon size zip lock bag-cut off the corners so you can put the camera strap through them and then it can slip over the camera-I've used this and it works great!

Glad your enjoyed Calif Grill. Told you you would love concierge!

That's adorable! I'm always impressed!
Thanks!

Love the hats Tom and Bernadette

I need to go out and see if I can find some clearance steals for myself today, I certainly don't have enough clothes to compensate for the heat on our trip. I've finally reached another of my weight loss goals, things are moving slowly but surely, so I don't want to invest much money in clothing that hopefully won't fit very long.
Thanks!

:woohoo: Congrats for reaching another goal!

Was there a link to instructions for the pencil/crayon roll ups? That was the other one I wanted to check out.
Can you remind me to get this for you again? I wanted to catch up here but I really need to do to bed!

Thanks! I "think" I am done playing around with it. I discovered that you can upload and use your own photos on mickeypath so I thought I would give that a whirl.
Cool!

Jonathan is finally home for a couple of weeks...he finished his internship at the nuclear particle lab...I checked on him at night to see if he was glowing
Was he?:rotfl:

All the laundry is done. The kids' clothes, shoes, bathing suits, etc. are laid out in the staging area. I'm making progress!
I was going to say this is early for you but then I read that you'll be away on business. Hope the week isn't too bad.

So for those of you going in Aug/have gone in Aug......any reason that we should take a long pair of pants or a jacket?
No pants but like others have said might want a sweater (especially for kids) for AC.

She pushes weight on her feet, brings them back under her, and continues to do so until they're up in the air (over the course of several minutes). Then, of course, she's stuck and gravity takes it's toll. She's done this at least once a day for the last 2 or 3 days.... apparently she doesn't mind, although obviously it's not as if she does it on purpose. :rotfl:

We're off to watch tonight's tennis session. Have a good evening!
WOW!!! She'll be crawling soon!

Oh that is too cute

Bernadette that is alot of sewing to do good luck
Thanks! We'll see what I can get done.

Today is my baby's 22nd birthday!

Yesterday we went to a winery for a tasting and discovered that their wines are actually quite good! The cost for the full tasting was only $10 (there were less expensive choices) and it included FOURTEEN wines and the glass, presented by the most unexpectedly odd presenter. I have to say I might have learned more about pairing wines and food from her than ever in one sitting, but she was totally not what you expect in a winery!

She dressed like a rural housewife from the 60s (NOT hippie), was cross-eyed and wore bottle thick glasses and retainers on both her upper and lower teeth She had a Northern Neck of Virginia twang filled with comparisons between automobiles and cars. She also had a lot of anecdotes about her 82 year old Aunt Kate and her love of wines. She was hysterical, but boy does she know her wine. Kristin fell in love with this character and told her that when she grows up she wants to be Aunt Kate.

We are going back next week because for $20 they are hosting a three hour "Matching Wine with Cheese" event. It includes music, tours, tastings, food and another souvenir glass. That should be fun!!
How fun!!!!

I had no luck getting more boxes at work yesterday, so I went and bought a couple of large totes(thanks to Riley's quick thinking ;)). All I have left to pack up in the kitchen is the food & a few odds & ends that we are using now. I will finish this up Monday night.

I looked at luggage, but did not see any that I cared for. If I have time I might look elsewhere, otherwise I will make it all fit with what I have somehow :rotfl:

The weather forecast has changed for Tuesday & is calling for thunderstorms. We are on the last flight out for the day, I pray for no delays or cancellations!

I can't believe we leave in TWO days :woohoo:
:cool1: :cool1: Here's hoping for clear weather and no delays!:wizard: :wizard:

Emma and I really enjoyed our time out yesterday. Kit was really cute and Emma really liked the movie. It had a great message and both of us were in tears throughout various parts of it.

Today we are headed to Dana's for a cookout. She called me and told me that all of her tests showed absolutely no problems with her heart. They now think most of the problems are anxiety related, in which she agrees, so they have given her some meds to help with that. Hopefully she is on the upswing. I told her the next time she needs help to just ask me. She is an only child and her mother at most times is rather unreliable and more so unpredictable. Thanks for the good thoughts.:goodvibes
I thought you'd enjoy the movie. Nice to hear good news on Dana.

Well the suitcases are out of the attic...I am so unmotivated to pack. I have a "pile" in my room of stuff ready to go into bags.(where's the Fairy Godmother when you need her? ):rotfl2:
You're doing better than me!

Here was today's project! I first tried glue and staples - and that didn't work so I broke out the needle and thread. Kept the staples in on Bob's hat and it seems to work just fine! Since he really doesn't wear a hat on rides at Disney, I think we'll be OK. Can't believe you've been able to keep the secret. Won't he notice your packing?

It's been a very sad week here. There was a triple murder about 10 miles from our house. Earlier in the week, there was a big man hunt overnight to find the man in camouflage with an assault rifle who killed three teens and injured a 4th. Roads were shut down, homes were evacuated and everything. They caught him but last I knew we didn't have any details on the reason for the murders. How tragic.

Your menus sound awesome!!!!

I got a bunch to do before the trip. So hopefully I get everything done. My parents still need to figure out if they need another suitcase or two. My brother and I have the wheeled duffle bags we used last year.
Good luck getting things done.:wizard:

I got a few things on my list done-finished Joe's shirt which was the one thing that really had to be done. I made Lizzy a hat, made the outside of Joe's hat. Made Emma a dress and Lizzy a top. I got a shirt for Joe cut out. I'm sure I can finish up a few more things this week and start packing next weekend.

I'll take a few photos tomorrow.

Good Morning DDA

Jennifer - your pictures a so cute, it won't be long before you'll be running trying to keep up with the two of them!

Chanon - Great job on the hats, I can't believe you're getting so close to your wedding day!

Janet - Have a great trip! See ya next week!

Vicki - How horrible, the menu looks great.

Well, it's off to work again, have a great day everyone!

So I'm heading out of town for work bright and early tomorrow morning. Of course I don't think it's really going to be that bright at 4:30 AM! I'm planning on going to bed at 9:00 tonight so I don't know how much I'll be on. I'll be back Friday evening. Have a great week everyone!

Boo... I'm sorry you have to travel, and so early! I hope it goes smoothly and quickly for you! :wizard:

About time!

No kidding!

It's been a very sad week here. There was a triple murder about 10 miles from our house. That is really sad :guilty:

I've been busy making cookies today. So far I've made 4 dozen peanut butter cookies, 4 dozen oatmeal raisin cookies and 4 dozen oatmeal crunchies. Becky is going to make some chocolate chip and snickerdoodles for me this week.

Slow down, lady! :goodvibes

I don't think Lucy moved off of her gym until 4 months. Your girls want to go places!!!

WOW!!! She'll be crawling soon!

Jennifer - your pictures a so cute, it won't be long before you'll be running trying to keep up with the two of them!

Thanks! I am quite sure they don't do it intentionally, though! :) They just like to dig their fit in, so then their kicking sends them off! :rotfl:

They haven't even quite figured out how to work their hands on purpose most of the time, so I think they're just getting luck. Still, I suppose it's helpful motor development for when they DO figure out how their limbs work! :teeth:
