So about 3 weeks ago, I had given up on conventional medicine/doctors and decided to visit a homeopath for my DD2's severe eczema problem. I'll make a long story short here. To control the eczema, my daughter is no longer able to eat sugar (including natural sugars like fruit, honey, cane sugar, maple syrup, etc.) which also includes sugar substitutes and sugar-like substances, dairy, vinegar and vinegar products (condiments, salad dressings, pickles, etc.) or any citris. You can only imagine how hard it's been to find things for her to eat. However, IT WORKS. She has cleared up without the use of steroids. Yes, she's on vit. C and multivitamins and DHA.
Problem is, how the heck are we gonna enjoy our eating experiences??? :guilty: Our TA said no prob., just call each restaurant and explain her diet, they will accomodate her. OK, I'm sure they will, but she's not gonna want what SHE has. She's going to want what WE have! :sad2:
PLUS, alot of our reservations are at buffets. Will they still make her something separate? On top of it, she's 2 years old, it's not like we paid for her since she's considered "free". I feel so bad for her, not able to enjoy the good food, and dessert is especially off limits! :sad1: We even bought the dining plan...:confused3
I've been testing her on "normal" foods and she breaks out at the least amount of sugar within 12 hours after consumption. I'm afraid to let her just enjoy herself because the result is quite devastating.
By the way, if any of you have eczema or have children with eczema, I would love to tell you more indepth about this, if you're interested in knowing more about what has worked for us, and completely safe and natural.

When you make your dining reservations note the allergies on the reservation.

We did that and when we would get to the restaurant and check in, they would mention the allergy, then when seated the server noted the allergies and then the chef would come out and let us know what was and was not safe to eat. At buffets the chef would walk around the buffet saying that's ok, don't go near that etc and at a restaurant he would go through the menu to say thats ok, thats not. At most restaurants he/she had a notepad, so I think if the allergy is noted in your reservation they do some research before you arrive.

We travelled with a life threatening allergy to nuts and found WDW to be the best place we have ever travelled in the world when it came to dealing with food allergies. Everybody seemed to take a attention as soon as we mentioned an allergy and they took it seriously.

Disney is the best place to have an allergy because they know how to handle it. Dd is allergic to gluten and dairy and she pigs out here. Last night we went to Cape May and chef Anthony was awesome, told us that her gf/cf wasn't that big of a challenge for him :), he was hoping we had a bigger challenge for him. Go there and challenge him She pigged out on clams, mussels, shrimp, rolls he brought out for her and he even made her a dessert. They even will make something that is not on their menu.

I do have reservations there! Well he's in for a real challenge with this one!

I don't know which hotel you're staying at, but chef assistant Mary at All Star Movies' food court "Premiere Food Court" is AMAZING! She makes special food for people with milk and gluten allergies etc., and I'm sure she'll have good choices for your daughter. They're good with food allergies most places in WDW, but Mary is a treasure.

Also Chef Robert at Chef Mickey's is great!

AVOID Garden Grill though, we went there in May and... they were just plain unwilling to give allergics the food they could eat, even though they did have that food! They weren't understanding and helpful at all, more like plain rude. And we're nice and polite people.

Avoid Liberty Tree too, it's ok, just veeeery limited choice, the people working there seem very busy and don't make the effort they do in other restaurants.

I would suggest going to the disABILITIES Forum and look at Post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs. There is a large section in that post dealing with special dietary needs, as well as many related links. You can get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs by following the link in my signature.

This is a very common topic of discussion in the disABILITIES Forum.

would you mind pm'ing me with the info on what your doing for the excema? My son is 13 months and is just awful. His poor skin looks like its raw from the excema. We think he might also have a food allergy but we cannot pin point it.
