tomorrow AM. She hasn't asked about the test and I usually take the attitude that being prepared is the best thing. But drinking that awful chalky white liquid is just the pits, no way around it. She has to be NPO after midnight. She'll have to drink a lot of water afterward and I'm tempted to keep her out of school all day just so she's able to. They can't have water bottles in school. She had her gall bladder out in September because of abd pain and it turned out to be inflamed. Now they're looking for an ulcer because she's having pain again and sometimes throws up for no apparent reason.

So any prayers and positive throughts you can send her way to help her get through this will be appreciated.

Poor thing! I hope the tests aren't too bad and the results are good. I'd definitely keep her out of school for the day just to rest.

Good luck!

Your poor DD! :( I have had the upper gi several times. The last time (couple months ago) it wasn't nearly as bad as it was years ago. For one, the drink didn't seem to taste as bad. (altho it is still pretty bad) I was able to get through it a lot easier.

You may seriously consider letting her stay home. Remember, what goes in has to come out. It wouldn't be much fun to have to go to the bathroom all day at school. (That drink also upsets my stomach)

Good luck to your dd!

Jill...who was diagnosed with reflux after the last gi. Much better now!

My very best for your daughter, Lois. Hoping all goes well and that her diagnosis is a simple thing to cure and take care of. She will be in my thoughts and prayer.

That's encouraging to hear that the beverage of choice is better. I'd had a UGI done several years ago and that was why I didn't want to taint her perception of it from the get go. The doc already put on something for reflux while we were waiting to go for the test. He also ordered some bloodwork and she did really well with that last week. I have to have blood drawn once a week so I KNOW where to go for that!!

Your poor DD... I wish her the best as she goes through the tests. I hope the diagnosis brings good news or something easily treatable. {{hugs}}

We're done at the hospital! I'm thrilled to say that DD did extremely well with her test. She didn't whine about drinking the liquid at all. She was on a table that tilted which looked like that in itself was enough to make you toss your cookies! She wanted to go to school and seemed fine so she did. The radiologist said that his initial evaluation showed nothing but that he would have to evaluate the xrays further before sending his report to the doctor.

The bloodwork she had last week also came back... all completely within range.

Soooooo..... now what??

I'm just so proud of her right now for the way she handled herself this AM. Hopefully, the doc will be able to come to some conclusion.

Lois (and Melinda)

I'm glad to hear it went well this morning. I hope they find the problem soon.

Good to hear the report was okay, Lois and that your daughter was feeling so well. Hoping they are able to pinpoint the problem soon. {{Hugs}}

That's good to hear! I hope the doctors find out what is causing the pain. {{hugs}}

Melinda is much braver than most adults.:) I'm glad things went well this morning.:) I hope they find out what's making her sick real soon. {{hugs}}
