... but no fever, no vomiting, no diarrhea. I'm sending her to school. I feel like I have kept her home too many times this year only to have her miraculously bounce back at 10 in the morning. It's so hard though- SeaShelley and I actually talked about this last night. I wish they (kids) wouldn't cry "wolf" so much so you could tell when they were really sick!!

my simple cure...
If you are too sick to go to school, you are too sick to do anything but stay in bed all day... bounce back or not.. and you need to rest so no tv.. you can read though :)

Ah.... good idea Alex BUT I won't be home all day. I have classes until 5 pm. I envision a Playstation II Festival all day long:rolleyes: She's going to school- if they call me and tell me she's ill and needs to come home, so be it. Without some physical proof though I can no longer take her at her word.:(

she would get to be home alone all day? oh man that's tough! A lot of temptation...

She is definately at that age! You did the right thing. If she needs to come home in the middle of the day, fine, but my guess is she wont.

I do that all the time . . .if there is no fever, no running nose, no actual symptoms that you can see . . .I always say "well, go to school and if you still don't feel well after awhile, go to the nurse and she'll call me" I have yet to receive a phone call from the school nurse . . .

Sometimes it is just hard for them to get up and moving in the morning . . .especially since its so cold! I know I'd like to "play" sick too! :p

My kids know if they stay home from school, more than likely mommy will take them to the dr, so they don't cry wolf in the mornings.;) At night about 5 minutes before they go to bed, you'd think they were about to die or something.

Does your dd have a big test today she's anxious about?

It tends to backfire on me. I get a call from the nurse that they've thrown up.

My youngest one time threw up upon arrival at pre-school for a week once. No other symptoms and only that one time, it was maddening.

As Mermaid and I discussed last night, you hate to come right out and tell your child that you don't believe them, but sometimes it comes down to that.

Browneyes we have the "bedtime" illnesses too! We also seem to have problems at homework time. I really hate that he uses illness to try and get out of things.

Seashelley, I bypass the homework illness.:teeth: They do their homework as soon as they get home. Absolutely NO tv, no telephone, no playing until it gets done.:teeth: My SO feels punished if he's home and it's homework time.:teeth: I'm very militant about homework.:teeth: I'm a wimp about the bedtime illness though.:o

Perhaps it's "female pains" if you know what I mean!!!! When they say stomach ache - they aren't quite sure if that's part of their stomach so that's what they call it.

In my house - if you aren't puking, you're going to school. And don't call me until you have puked!!! Then you can stay home (well, unless there is a fever involved and then she can stay home but none of this Ferris Bueller fever faking stuff!!!!) Yes - I'm a mean mom and proud of it!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

My older two don't try to do this, but my youngest, 8, has been trying this since kindergarten! She will usually start the night before. Her cover was really blown one night. She started with the "Oh my belly hurts!" as I was tucking her into bed. I smiled and said "Give it up, you're off tomorrow." She just kind of said "Oh..." and rolled over!;) I have told her the story of the boy who cried wolf numerous times because she is ALWAYS complaining about something!

ROFL Colleen...I can't help but laugh at your post about your dd...that would be mine if she ever tried it!!!!! ROFL
