DCL Survey seems promising

Moloka'i?? I would LOVE to see Moloka'i! And Kalaupapa there. One day when we're on Maui, I'm going to fly over and stay a few nights and do the mule ride down to Kalaupapa (the leper colony). But I cannot imagine how that tiny an island with that low a population could ever handle a whole cruise ship's worth of visitors for the day. But Moloka'i would make a fabulous day trip excursion from either Oahu or Maui!

I was also quite surprised. I would assume the larger islands would be more of a draw. Perhaps that's why it was on the survey....For my family (and maybe others), the fact that it's not so populated like Oahu would be the attraction.

Looks like there are a few different versions of that online survey going around. I was on the exact same cruise and my survey was more typical of post cruises survey I have received in the past. No questions about port of calls or the new entertainment scheduling, which I know some cruisers were asked about...

Was this the Aug 16th 10 night cruise?

I'm sure it's all random. I have done the typical ones many times...this was the first one I've done that actually asked to list places.

I didn't have any entertainment question either. It was almost in two parts...general survey of my experience...then what I thought about other ports, where I'd like to go, what I would do in each of those ports. The questions were very comprehensive. I felt like they were more geared to get my opinion about possible cruise destinations than finding out how I liked my cruise.

I'd be more apt to find a different cruise line. One of the best things about a cruise is my husband staying off his phone.

I would second that...as well as my children!!:thumbsup2

I'm one of those rare people who use my phone for emergency, occasional calls and texting. I don't have data...yes, I'm still able to function without it. I don't actually take my phone on vacations since it's virtually useless...my phone plan is for local calling/texting.

It's funny I have gotten the same thing. When I go to answer some of their survey's. I am in my 40's with a 10 year old so I guess I am too old for them demo :)

If PrincessShmoo did this survey, they wouldn't know she was from the West Coast or any part of US. It's just North America and then the country. For me, it's Canada. It was nothing more specific than that.

However, they did send it specifically because of the cruise we just went on, so it was specific to my experience and not really general.

On some Disney surveys they have asked for my zip code, so I must've gotten them all mixed up. Sorry!

That doesn’t make sense to me. Reason I say that is because a parent in their 40s is more establish and has a better cash flow for vacations (typically). I would think you’re their prime target with a child that age and a parent that age.

I know that is what I thought but if Disney is like my work they only seem to be interested in the 18-34 demographic.

I filled one out today (not so interesting, mine was about DVC member events). I believe it asked for location (Canada), age group (35-44), and postal code at the beginning.

I wonder if they have a quota of responses they are looking for within each demographic, and once a particular demographic is full they just reject any further responses from that group?

That is definitely true with some surveys. Some places that regularly send me surveys will even include that in the rejection message if I respond a few days later than usual.

I'm in my 40's as well and have 2 teens. I agree with the other poster, I think you would be a good target.

No problem. I think we've all done many surveys that seem to blend into each other. I only mentioned this one because I've never been asked for a list of places I wanted to visit. And this was very comprehensive.

I had one very similar to what you are describing. I was also on the August 16 Norway/Iceland cruise. It asked me to list my top 3 and then when on to ask about different ports I might be interested in. Just off the top of my head the list included:

Victoria, BC, Canada
Florence/Pisa, Italy
Invergordon, Scotland
Saguenay, QC, Canada
Santorini, Greece
Gibraltar Island
Reyjkavik, Iceland

I am Canadian and 37 for the record

I hope not. DCL knows that a lot of the platinum members are 40+. And how else do you measure loyalty than number of DCL cruises. There was a couple in one of our DVC meeting who have over 50+ cruises and they were quite elderly. I can only hope my husband and I will still be able to afford the cruise at that age.

So perhaps it is about that Aug 16th cruise. Perhaps they're trying to get a feel for Canadians since apparently that cruise had a significant amount of Canadians. Although I only met a few. My son said his group was 40 with 30 of them from Canada.

That's strange...looking at your list, I had different ones....I know I was given Molokai, Faroe Islands, Cork (Ireland), Geirangerfjord, Invergordon, and 2 others I can't remember.

My husband received the DVC member events survey just a couple of days before I received my extensive survey. His has the basic question about the member event - if we knew about it, if we went because of the invitation, how informative it was etc...
