DCL Summer 2017 Megathread - Itineraries are out!

It really depends on the time of year (holiday) and the popularity of the itinerary. I have seen prices jump an hour after bookings began. Also, I've seen stateroom categories sell out very quickly. I wouldn't wait to book.

I don't think it happens anymore. Not with the high pricing.

I've been reading a lot about European tourism being way down because of the terror attacks and refugee crisis. I wonder if Disney is altering itineraries because of this. Just a thought.

Concur with that thought; we cancelled Med cruise that had ports of call in Greece and Turkey because of a concern for unrest. 2016 will largely be drive-cations in the USA, and we're thinking similar for 2017.

It could be. A lot of my co-workers are heading to Europe this Summer because they are getting great deals on flights, hotels cruises etc. I guess it depends on how you look at things. I'm actually considering going twice this year just because I can actually afford it for once.

Depends on the cruise. The Mexican Riviera cruises in Oct 2015 went up SUPER quickly.

To be fair some cruises have changed itineraries even after being released so Dcl waiting to release isn't really a reason. There could be an attack anywhere in the world at any time. All itineraries have a disclosure about not being able to go to certain ports die to things like that. We aren't talking about iterinaries leaving next week. Although it's possible it's unlikely this is the reason for it not being out yet. It's more likely to be about money in my opinion and trying to msximise this years profits. But this is just my opinion and I could well be wrong. Fingers crossed we hear something soon. Does anyone know the latest summer itineraries have been released.

Depends on the cruise. The Mexican Riviera cruises in Oct 2015 went up SUPER quickly.

They ended up offering all kinds of discounts in the end. People book and cancel. Generally with Dcl its book early or book late no in between. Its like Dcl raises the prices. People stop booking and then they have to offer discounts. I guess it works for them.

The last one I remember seeing that increased by the day/hour was summer 2015 Europe - the late June Norway/Iceland - and also the British Isles cruises. After that, I haven't paid close attention. I think any new itinerary tends to cause a frenzy.

To your point though - our spring break 2017 cruise hasn't increased since it was so darned high to begin with! However, the price for our spring break 2016 cruise (that was much more reasonably priced initially) increased before we could get onboard to do an OBB. If we had waited, we would have paid more - even with the 10% off.

Side note - jealous of your upcoming June trip. Thats one I would really like to do. Maybe in 2017??

They are offering discounts on the British Isles and Iceland in June. The 2015 Iceland cruise sold fast. Then they raised the price about 50% for 2016, and it didnt sell. There are still lots of empty rooms. It will be interesting to see the 2017 prices. They couldnt sell out their cruises this year, and with people being afraid to go Europe..who knows. I still cant imagine disney lowering prices...its just not what they do.

The British Isles dropped its IGT rate on Friday by $400 per person. We looked at booking it last year but $9000 for an 11b, 2 adults 1 child, was a little too much . Now we could get the IGT rate for nearly $2400 less , but because of the crazy prices released last year we decided to skip DCL this year. I would be very unimpressed if I paid the $9000.

Oh I think it is still overpriced, but had the $2400 drop been at the initial release more people might have booked and kept their reservation.

I am in Canada, so I would need to add another 25% to that price. I am waiting to see what they are offering for the EBTA. NCL has an appealing itinerary for their EBTA on the getaway and the "free" drink package for 16 nights. I doubt DCL will offer a better deal, but I am hoping.

For 5 people, that British Isle cruise opening day was $23,000 and the Greece and Turkey cruise was $25,000 by EBTA, it was 25k and 27k for a 4E room, I don't remember what they were asking for concierge

The next set of itineraries (through summer) are expected any time now. Last rumor for fall/winter release was May.

We did Greece on the Magic two years ago. It was wonderful. I hope they do it again! We are scheduled to g to Rome in September, it never occurred to me to cancel.

We got an interline rate or I would have never considered dcl in Europe. The carnival vista is 2500 for an 8 day med cruise this sept in an ocean view room. Im so tempted. I worry about Europe twice in 4 months. How bad is the jet lag?

I have an easier time coming home from Europe than going to Europe. I guess I have an easier time flying west than flying east. I know someone who is exactly the opposite. This summer, I am headed to Thailand and I am worried about the jet lag coming home, but that is coming home east. If you are a morning person, it is harder to adjust going east and if you are a night person, it's hard to adjust west.

Im a morning person. Ive never had a problem coming home from the East coast. I had a horrible time adjusting coming back from Hawaii. I get up at 430 for work. It was like getting up at 130. My husbands a night person and he always complains about jet lag returning from Florida. What you said makes perfect sense.

25k for a family vacation to the British Isles makes no sense - 25k is for a premium destination on a very exclusive cruise line...
I am not surprised that now they do not manage to sell their cabins - who can possibly afford that? Well the ones who can actually go on the exclusive lines I guess.
Hopefully it will be a lesson learnt - price increases do have limits.

Our 4B on the British Isles that we purchased the morning it opened is still cheaper than the current rate by over $1200 per person. I did manage to get my reservation within the first hour of the phone lines opening as a gold CC member.
