DCL Summer 2017 Megathread - Itineraries are out!

Just a warning -- be careful of the "free" package offers on NCL. We got the "free" drink package only to be charged more than $136 for gratuities tacked on to that package. Of all the cruises we have done who gave us free specialty dining, etc., this is the only line that charged us gratuities. To me, that's not free. We wouldn't even drink $136 worth of drinks to make the gratuity even plausible :confused3
Maybe they just want to make sure the bartenders get their 15% tips. I'm sure there are people out there that would take their free drink and wouldn't tip. I think the same goes for the restaurants. Disney adds 15% gratuity on to every drink you buy. I think it makes sense unless your not a drinker. If you don't drink then just have them remove the add on. I personally think unlimited drinks for 138.00 is a pretty good deal.

Yeah, I noticed that when I started searching different dates on the Vista.

You may, or may not, be able to answer this question about the Vista. But I'll ask anyway. Do you know why the Havana Suites on the Carnival Vista require guests to be 12 and older?
CCL says it's to keep the experience of that area a rest and recharge atmosphere. It's an exclusive area until 5p since only the Cabana staterooms can use that pool area until then. There's also some evidence that the deck area in front of the cabana patios will be only accessible by those staying in those rooms.

We are sailing on the Fantasy in three weeks (Lord willing)!!!!!! Should we book summer 2017 as soon as Disney opens up the itineraries or should we wait until we are on the cruise? Thanks!

I do find it bizarre that there isn't some kind of an announcement from Disney on when we can expect some news, or what the delay is. Even Apple announce in advance when the new phones will be available (and what features they have). This is later than "usual", so treat your customers with some respect and let them know whats going on!

Personally I would do it as soon as the schedule is out and then see if you can "better" that price when you are on the cruise. That said the way things are going you may be back from your cruise before the new dates are out.

I know this info is out there somewhere but if someone could help with a quick answer rather than me searching that would be great. Once the itineraries are released what is the timeline for when platinum, gold, and everyone else book?

Historically, the itineraries were announced on a Monday, with Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members booking by phone on Tuesday, and then anyone booking by phone or online on Wednesday.

EDIT: A little correction - in the past itineraries have been released on a Tuesday, with Wednesday being Gold/Platinum booking, and Thursday being everyone. But the basic concept remains: Day 1 release of information; Day 2 Gold/Platinum booking; Day 3 everyone.

On one occasion I found prices were cheaper 2-3 weeks after release than on the first week of release (around $200/ nothing major). The only thing I could figure was that a lot of people put different holds on that first week that they do not end up keeping and things open up.

I would wait. Prices dont go up in 3 weeks.

It really depends on the time of year (holiday) and the popularity of the itinerary. I have seen prices jump an hour after bookings began. Also, I've seen stateroom categories sell out very quickly. I wouldn't wait to book.

I would also book ASAP. If something else better comes a long then great. But if not, then you know you have something booked.
