I love everyones pages...their so good.

:goodvibes You Rock for finding all those links and helping us out! I have her blog bookmarked, but I sometimes get caught up and forget to keep touch with her. This reminds me that I need to!

Thank you and thanks also to the amazing designer Brittney!!!!! (Britt-ish Designs who I know is a DIS'r too :lovestruc )

I have to also say to all the newbies to this craft called digital scrapbooking that there are designers and then there are DESIGNERS who truly are amazing people and who really do want to share their love of all things digital. After doing Digital scrapboking for the past 5 years, I have learned who are the designers who I love and freely will purchase their kits. Brittney is now one of them thanks to taking to the time to look through her work.

It takes time to understand your tastes, so look around and look at the freebies offered by designers, but don't go nuts downloading everything until you truly understand the different styles, personalities, and who you wish to support. The craft has come a long way in the past few years, and you can truly start up learning with very little cost and take the time to garner truly amazing kits that you will use again and again.

subbing. Awesome and amazing everyone!!!! I know I want to do this- just have no clue where to begin! LOL

Christy- Your pages are absolutely stunning! You have inspired me to take another look at digital. I was all fired up about it last year after our cruise and then life got in the way!

We are heading on another cruise in October. Would you share with all of us digital newbies how you would prepare/get started if we plan to digital scrap our cruise photos? Also, what program do you use and how easy/difficult is it to learn?

Thanks so much!:thumbsup2

I should have gone back a few pages and read! I see some of my questions were answered already. I love Creative Memories traditional stuff - is the software supported on Mac (which is all I own!)? I have PhotoShop but have no idea how to use it! Suppose that's a place to start...:)

I would still be interested to know how you plan for your pages. Do you have ideas in mind ahead of time or do you just let inspiration take over after you're home? Thanks again!

I know I don't post my pages, but I have been doing digital for many years. I got my start on this web site: www.digitalscrapbookplace.com I also use www.digitalfreebies.com and www.scrapmatters.com is wonderful for newbies too. All of these sites have forums for new or transferring skills of paper scrapping to digital design. Many people also swear by www.twopeasinapod.com They have an amazing repertoire of freebies too and one of the most active forums out there.

All of these sites have freebies to get you started.

I am sure many others will pipe up with suggestions.

I hang out here too often, but there is a really great forum for scrappers on the DIS - head over to http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=123 and you will be well on your way!

:thumbsup2 :cutie:

Oh, and I use Lumapix - you can google it - and it as as easy as pie and I create some really spectacular pages with it! It's affordable too.

Thanks for the sites! I am bookmarking everything so I can go back and get started when I have a clear break in the schedule! I looked at Lumapix and unfortunately it won't work on my Mac. Same with Creative Memories. I'll head over to the DIS thread and do some more research. Thanks again:thumbsup2

I wish CM would make SBC+ compatible with Mac... they keep saying they are working on it. It's such a user friendly program. I love it. I have only been digi scrapping for about a year... but I've done traditonal scrapping for about 10 years... When I first started digi scrapping, I did a lot of looking around in the galleries, etc. for inspiration. I sometimes would even copy an entire LO completely (Scraplifiting is a total complement in digiscrapping as long as you give credit if you post your layouts)... this helped me get used to navigating the software and also layering the various elements, etc. Now, I have a better handle... I still browse the galleries for inspiration, and I do like to use templates also from time to time. Enjoy looking around the scrapping thread and don't be shy about asking questions over there -- everyone is really helpful!

I posted this in the Disney digital thread but wanted to post it over here too. This is a cute freebie that I found while looking for some kits for our first DCL trip in Sept. You can get it here....

Newbie question! When I open this link, do I download the 2 "downloads"? I started to do the first one and it said it would take 13 minutes! Is that right?

I think the elements are so cute! Thanks!

Yep.... Probably one download will contain the papers and one will contain the elements. Depending on your connection, it could take some time. Digi scrapping files can get pretty large, so some people store them on disks or external hard drives if their hard drives start filling up.

OK, thanks! Sounds like I may need a dedicated hard drive!:thumbsup2

I'm going to open PhotoShop for like the first time. It's been on my Mac for a year but I've never looked at it.:confused3 I guess there's a first time for everything! Wish me luck!

Awesome lo's as always Christy!! Can't wait to lift some of those pages!!

Christy, I think I will be "scraplifting" many of your Mexican Riveria layouts. They are just beautiful.

I've been checking this thread everyday, as well as the digital scrapbooking thread on the scrapbook forum. You guys have inspired me to go digital. I ordered photo shop elements 6 and just received it in the mail today :) . I've also downloaded atleast 50 freebie kits. I think searching for kits is going to get addicting!

Thank you everyone for all the links, beautiful layouts and helpful hints.

Very curious about Digital SB, so I'm subscribing. I've done several traditional pages from our DLR trip in June, but I'm interested in Digital. How much do the photoshop and other programs run?
TIA
Sabrina

I just bought photoshop elements 6 from Dell.com for $49 after a $20 rebate. I believe that offers ends July 31. It usually runs around $70-$100.

Photoshop is about $500 from what I've heard.

I think the Creative memories software is around $60.

I'm really looking forward to attempting my first digital page

YAY!! Good for you. It really is so much fun, and I never thought I would be "active" on forums and boards, sharing my layouts and doing challenges because it didn't seem like my thing.... but THAT is so much fun too. People are so friendly and it's fun to share your work with people who are into the craft. I started digi scrapping about a year ago and for the first 4-6 months I swear I was addicted to hunting down and downloading freebies. That's SO MUCH FUN too! Now that I have done quite a few pages, I am not quite as addicted to that aspect of it, but I still love finding freebies from my favorite designers and checking out the new kits, etc. There are some extremely talented digital designers out there..... I'll look forward to seeing you over on the scrapbooking thread, and you'll definitely have to join in the challenges! :goodvibes
