DCL scrapbook Pages??

ME! I spend enough time on the computer without scrapping on it too! Besides, there's something so soothing about cutting paper. I like the tactileness of real paper, ribbon, brads.

I knew there was more of us out there!! :goodvibes

Can't wait to see them. I'm getting ready to start back to work, so I am going to slow way down probably....

My DS made a top 10 (that turned into a top 15) list of our DL/DCL vacation.... I wanted to document his picks and also why he chose each one....

I love the top "15" in his words! I'm going to have to end my cruise one like that!! Maybe give each son a top 5? Great idea!!!:lovestruc

Does any do paper scrapbooking anymore? I must be a scrapbooking dinosaur!!!:lmao:

Yes - there's plenty of us out there! But I must admit that I do more digital than traditional scrapbooking these days, mostly because I take so many photos! The StoryBooks are so much smaller, and I can order two of the same thing for both kids, especially on things like vacation books.

I now use the traditional scrapbooking as a more traditional scrapbook to hold the memorabilia we've picked up along the way, and a few photos, too! If I didn't do it this way, my kids will need a forklift to get all of their scrapbooks out of the house when they finally move out! :lmao:

And thanks to everyone for posting their ideas here. We're taking our first cruise next October, and I do appreciate the ideas ahead of time so I can plan away...

...I love looking at all the layouts in this thread--they are gorgeous. My digital pages don't look nearly as fancy or fantastic but I am happy with them!

I am a CM consultant and so I will never abandon my traditional albums LOL. But I am also enjoying making digital pages/storybooks. For our 2nd Disney Cruise this past Feb, I made a fantatsic 12x12 storybook. I used a lot of the new Disney and other vacation elements. I am thrilled with how it turned out. Here are just a couple of my pages using some of the Disney elements.

Christy,

Love your pages. I just bought SBC+ and will use if for our upcoming cruise. For the photos you get from Shutters, are you scanning them or adding them to a printed digital page (hybrid page)? Curious how to get all my Shutters pix (I always get lots-can't help myself!) into a digital scrapbook?

Also, do you share any of your template pages for others to import as .png files? Just curious because they are wonderful!

Thanks so much! I have scanned in all of the Shutters pics! ugh!! Actually -- they have scanned really well, and we just have a cheapo scanner (Less than $100 from Best Buy).... I sure wish these cruise lines would convert to digital though -- all of the waste kills me. I bought a bunch of pictures too -- I just can't help myself. There is a great thread going over on the DIS Scrapbooking forum JUST for SBC+ users, and a few of us have started to share some of our templates... Go check it out -- the thread has been really helpful to me. If you have SBC + -- you would import the templates as a page file (not .pngs) -- and they are totally functional within that program. I haven't figured out how to save my templates as .pngs for programs other than SBC+ -- I'm sure there is a way though.... :goodvibes

I would so love to learn how to do the digital pages....where's the best place to start this? How easy is the CM digital pages to make? I don't have a CM near me to help me with this.

The Storybook Creator Plus (SBC+) software is really super user-friendly. I had no idea what i was doing when i first started. There are good tutorials on the CM website that can walk you thru a lot of the process...

Looks like some fun elements! Since you are a CM consultant, do you have any info as to whether CM is any nearer to releasing SBC+ in a Mac version? I would love to invest in the software but I have a Mac! Thanks!

I haven't made any scrapbooks (digital or otherwise) yet, but I am getting all my pics from our cruise ready to go. I have bunches of stuff for a traditional book (or two) stockpiled in my bedroom. I took my Shutters pics to a camera store to be printed. I have heard that Walgreens will do it, too. There is a release to print to take with you so that you don't have any copyright issues. I had no problems. I got reprints of the Shutters pictures and also had them make a disc so I can have another copy in case I need more. Here is the link for the release:

The jury is still out on that one....I have heard mixed reports...some say on the newer Macs that can run windows programs it works, some say it does not. I have not heard any "official" word on it yet. Our nat'l convention is this weekend (I couldn't go) so perhaps some news may come out of that. I know it is frustrating--I have a few Mac customers chomping at the bit to get at this software!!

Christy - great pages! You have a really great eye for layout and design! :thumbsup2 :worship:

LisaSP - awesome pages!!!! :cheer2: I love the princess one! After our last trip I put a book together on the Photopass site and it came out a lot like that page - I really love the way that book turned out and the kids love it. It's a great way tp use both your photos and Disney ones too. If you guys haven't checked it, you should.

I posted a big long post this weekend and it didn't take. I am going to attempt it again now.

I was answering questions about speed with digital. This is why Ii switched. My pages take about an hour to do. I think that is just amazing! I spend a lot of time making thank you notes and hostess gifts and invitations in digital scrapbooking.

I also answered a question about size and printing. I scrap in 8 1/2 by 11" and print at home for the kids to have. I put the printouts into frames we have at home on a rotating basis. I then triple save my spreads - I save on a DVD, on the computer, and in cloud storage. I am wicked paranoid about this stuff. I also have seen that the prinouts don't last longer than five year, and then begin to fade. I also display the spreads on our large digital frames. I place the spreads into DVDs not just for storage, but also on other ones that have video and photos on them as actual DVDs to watch. I also use my spreads as desktop backgrounds.

I totally respect paper scrapping, but I find that digital fits my lifestyle so much better - speed, ease of use in other applications, and sharing capabilities.

I think both mediums have a nexus point in cost when you start factoring in printing costs. Digital is much less expesnive to buy kits which you can reuse again and again, but I spend about $100 every six months on ink and paper. Add that to an addiction to a very expensive digital designer and you come pretty close to having very similar costs.

:cutie:

I love all the pages posted there are so many creative minds. I have not done the digi thing yet and am totaly interested in it. I have done traditional scarping, but my stuff doesn't look as good as some of the ones posted. I looked at some of the kits and they are awsome, but I couldn't fine too many disney ones, I tried to download a free kit but I guess I don't have a program that suports it.
