Wow. This has been fun. I have put about 8 hours in finishing up my scrapbook from my Oct '07 Cruise. Overall I am happy with the package. I may have my cousins in Orlando buy more of the Goofy ear bandanas so I can have some for eveyone. I have at least 16 kids coming. I hit the Semi Annual Sale at the Disney Store this weekend.

I plan on doing the limbo, a treasure hunt and pin the patch on the pirate

The Party just keeps getting bigger. My Mom has a friend who owns an ice business so we will have an ice sculpture of a pirate ship.pirate:

I plan on having Live music and playing the CD during the breaks. I plan on having 2 bouncy tents out back. We live in FL so it should be 75 degrees and sunny this weekend.

I plan to have Jerk Chicken, Mango Salsa, sandwiches and other snacks.

Disney if your are reading this - send characters to Casa de Adelson - in St. Pete FL (SUNDAY). I think that is the only thing we are missing.

Count down - 4 more days!

OK, finally finished reading and copying ideas. Thanks everyone:cool1: for sharing.

I haven't gotten my party package yet. The delivery date is the 24th, but the tracking site says it's already on its way to my town so I'm hoping I get it tomorrow!:thumbsup2

My party will be small--maybe 8-10 people.

I did a little shopping today for party favors, but put off buying until I see the stuff in the box.

I did find Mickey head pizzas at WalMart today--too cute!! They're $1.47 or so, and are supposed to be 2 servings (2 kids, one hungry adult:rotfl: ). I also found POC pasta at Fry's (Kroger) as well as Mickey and Friends decorating sprinkles and frozen Mickey cheese-stuffed pasta.

I was at Disneyland about 3 weeks ago and while there got Mickey pretzles and Mickey "goldfish" crackers. My best score was since we were staying at the DL hotel I hoarded the H20 lotions, shampoos and Mickey soaps each day so I have about a dozen of those for my treat bags.:woohoo:

I'm trying out the blue jello w/gummy fish in plastic cups tonight. I bought some Goldfish crackers and another brand that are shaped like whales. I'm thinking of doing the meatballs w/chili sauce and grape jelly, plus the pizzas. It'll be cold here, possibly raining/snowing, so hot food would be good.

One of the markets had fresh strawberries today! I might get ambitious and do chocolate-dipped strawberries.

I'm not a drinker, nor are most of my friends. I may do fruit juice and sparkling water "mocktails". I have 4 ceramic coconut shell drink cups (really ancient, belonged to my parents) as well as some cool copper mugs w/wooden handles (also parents'). I found some straws w/the little paper umbrellas attached to them that I'll use for the drinks.

I'm going to make a music CD for @ party bag. Don't think I'll have games per se since the party is an open house and there are so few people coming. But I did download directions for folding some towel animals so I think I'll have some towels out and let people try their hand at that. I'll have the DVD from the party package (hope it plays!), plus a couple of DVDs I've made from pictures of past cruises.

I'm going to have my laptop out and show the guests the DISboards web site and tell them how great it is!:worship:

That's all I can think of for now. Thanks again, everyone, for sharing your great ideas!

You dip those strawberries and I'll bring the Rosa Regale! OK, I was planning on bringing a bottle anyway.

See you Saturday!

Ok I give up. I keep getting a tracking error. My zip is 61817. Would someone please kindly see if it works for you.

Thanks

I just tried it and UPS could not locate the shipment details. I would call HP to see if they can overnight a package to you. Good luck...sorry I wasn't able to give you better news. :sad1:

I can't pull yours up either. Mine doesn't work too. I did call David at HP and in under 2 minutes he gave me my tracking number. Strange, that comes up without a problem. I think maybe the shipping guy was overwhelmed and if he didn't put the reference in (or had a typo) you won't get it.

My kids CD does not work any suggestions on how to get a new one??????????????

It may not be the disc. Try playing it in your computer DVD drive. It may be the type of media that they burned the DVD to. Some DVD players are not compatible with certain media but DVD drives can be more forgiving.

I'm near Madison as well - Waunakee actually!:cool1: The only Waunakee in the world!

I was trying to find your party to get invited! I'm going to one Saturday afternoon in Oshkosh (meduck's party). I'm just over in DeForest! Small world!

You guys sound like you are having too much fun here so we're going to have a Virtual DCL House Party for those not lucky enough to join you!

Check this out! http://www.disboards.com/announcement.php?f=9&a=227

wow sounds like fun...I love the chat :thumbsup2 you will probably have a better chance to win the cruise because less people will enter it compared to the amount of guests and hosts entered in there on cruise for each.

I got my e-mail back from Dave about the ripped posters and napkins being thrown in and the late shipping and here is what he said...

Hey Robin,

Although it is certainly one of our busier parties we've had, I really have been enjoying myself throughout this Disney Cruise Line House Party. The Disney Cruisers seem to be some of the most enthusiastic groups of people I've come across!

Package shipments can be delayed for a number of reasons. For this particular party, I do know that there was a significant portion of materials that needed to be made specifically for this event. Sometimes there can be a delay in getting these subcontracted items to the shipping house. In addition to that, this being Disney Cruise Line's first House Party, there is some general getting used to all the needs that accompany this fulfillment. Even though they are definitely arriving later than originally planned, I do still think that there will be much gratitude once everyone receives their packages and gets to see how much Disney Cruise Line was able to put inside.

As far as the OBC is concerned, you will unfortunately have to get in contact with Disney Cruise Line regarding this....I can, and definitely will, pass on the displeasure that we're seeing with this expiration date, and see if something can be done from our end. But my thinking is that most likely you will need to speak to Disney Cruise Line about it.

And on the damaged packages.....this is something we've struggled with many times at House Party. This is not the fault of House Party or Disney Cruise Line, and really is unfortunately just something that comes with the mass-shipment of 1,000 (sometimes more) different packages. There are bound to be a portion of them that are mishandled during delivery and this is something that we have really yet to find a way around. We certainly welcome any of those people to let us know, at help@houseparty.com, if they have received damaged goods in their packages.

Thanks for your continued interest, and enjoy the party!!

Sincerely,

David Smith

"Enthusiastic" was a nice way to put it!
It was nice of him to reply but not what I wiould have hoped for... at this piont all I can hope for is that SOMETHING comes before the party Fri night. I appreciate that it's free, but I can say I was much more enthusiastic about DCL before this whole thing. THey had better advertising from me before this mess then they will now. I have been known to bring up DCL in EVERY conversation and trying to talk all our friends and family into going with us. At this point I don't feel much like telling anyone about it. Just my 2 cents...

Hello Got Disney,Thanks for posting Dave's reply reguarding the DCL House Party Packages.
We just received and opened our package and although I knew what to expect from reading the boards I was still a little disappointed. Not to sound ungrateful, but I really woulr have preferred cruise themed merchandise of at least ten of each item to fill the guest bags.
I think my favorite quote from Dave who said, Even though they are definitely arriving later than originally planned, I do still think that there will be much gratitude once everyone receives their packages and gets to see how much Disney Cruise Line was able to put inside.
So we will Party On and make a good time of the whole situation but definately think twice about doing another House Party in the future.
So what we are left with is............

Being chosen as a Host for the DCL Home Party Memorable
Calling and e-mailing all my friends, family and other
people we came in contact with Time Consuming
Talking a local restaurant into donating a room to
hold the party in. Thankful
Buying gift bags and decortations from Orinital
Trading company. $120.00
Food, paper products and beverages $200.00
Photo Paper and Ink to print pictures to show
others what a great time there is to be had with
Disney Cruise Lines $150.00
Giving 1/4 of my guest (whom I had spent untold hours
building up Disney Cruise Lines and telling them how
nice everything they do for their guests is),
a cardstock Peter Pan Mask,a folded poster, loose beverage
napkins---------PRICELESS
:surfweb:
I don't want to sound ungrateful, just feeling a little let down.

Well our party box arrived this morning and everything was intact and in one piece. We are very disappointed in the items sent.:sad1: Like others said not enough items to put together 10 decent goody bag for the kids. What happened with Disney doing thing better than the other guy? I mind as well be promoting Carnival.:scared1: Lastly we did not receive the obc not that we will be able to cruise that quickly or for the fact that we do 7 day cruises and have no interest in the Ca. cruises. I have no idea how I will explain the CHEESY stuff that Disney provided for a party that I built up as great:confused:

Rob

What I don't get is that when you read the party sight everyone on there talks about how AWESOME the package is and that Disney managed to do it again :thumbsup2 They seem to think that WOW what a great package....sooooo

Whats wrong with us :lmao: or are the other people just not getting it :confused3

Maybe we are just to picky :snooty: ...ummmm ...NAH me don't think so.....

I agree that there is not enough love flowing our way from DCL and that they dropped the ball and should have sent us out stuff from DCL.

All I can figure is that originally they were going to send that great package as I posted but when they saw that alot of people were having like one or 2 guests and many were having no guests , they decided not to send all that stuff for just them to keep and get nothing in return. That is my best guess.

there were alot of no guest party's. Unfortunately if that is the case the one like us loss out due to the others.popcorn::

Got Disney. I looked at the houseparty boards today and thought the same thing.:confused3 My only thoughts on it are that they are afraid to say something negative on the houseparty site for fear they will not be invited to host a party again or that the negative comments will get erased. Either way I don't get it.
