DCL Party Planning Thread (combined threads)

I'm not trying to be negative, but I noticed someone posted earlier how they were disappointed in the OBC. I'm super disappointed that there are restrictions on it like there are. We already have two DCL cruises booked for the future and won't be able to use our OBC. I know the party package (that hasn't arrived to me yet) is probably wonderful, but I would have thought since so many of us are opening up our homes and spending our own money as well that Disney would have atleast made the OBC without restrictions. I know it's only fifty dollars anyway, but how many of you will have spent LOTS more than that by the time your party is over? Okay--I'm done. Please don't flame me! It will be a lot of fun whether we can use the OBC or not!

No flames here, ITA about the OBC. I am sure that a LOT of hosts already have a future cruise booked -- and know that the best deal is to book onboard! So not much incentive to initiate a new booking for a $50 OBC that can't be combined with any other discounts.

I'm also bummed that it can't be transferred -- it would have been nice to have the option to offer it as a door prize to a guest. I was planning to give it to my co-hostess, who is not an "official" HP host because she didn't get picked, but is inviting guests, helping with food and drink (she has a daquiri machine ). She is cruising this summer and I was really hoping she could use the OBC.

I am bummed about the OBC too. If it can't be combined does that mean if I try and rebook onboard in May I won't get the $200 obc?

On board credit says New bookings only between 1/26/08 and 8/01/08. Only 1 shipboard credit per stateroom. Shipboard credit is non-transferable and non-refundable. Other discounts do not apply. Rates in US dollars.

Boy what a rip off We were planning on putting out good money to host this party and promote Disney but if this is the best they can do as a compensation package We will definitely be rethinking this all together . not to mention ever doing another house party promotion!!

Got my box today, it was retaped as if opened before. Did everyone get Serentity Bay, O Lab and Studio Sea posters? I also got two undewater mickey ones..

lets face it we all expected something in return for all the advertising we are doing for them. We could always have a party and not go through all this so why not reward us with something besides what they are sending us never mind ripped posters and thrown in napkins.

as for those napkins has anyone thought about who might have had to separate them and touch them because they are not wrapped they most likely just counted up the 36 napkins and threw them in.

What if someone was sick with a cold and were wiping there nose or sneezing on them as they were separating... or how dirty were there hands after touching and putting all the other stuff in the box

Not to rain on your parade but thought you might like to know that before letting your friends wipe there mouth on them. I will be buying different napkins thank you and complaining about that also.

I expected more from Disney after all they are a top notch company, what happened this time

I know this is there first go around with this but advertising is one of the things that they do best. I feel like they forgot all about us and that they are using us to there advantage to save some money.

Makes me not want to have a party for them. I will talk about the cruise but i will not push it. My friends all ready know I am a DCL fanatic so they know where to come if they have any questions.

Will let you know when I hear from David. by the way sorry if i am so glum but as it is always said "the Party must go on"!!!! and so it will and it will be fun.

I will do another party with House party but not again for DCL....like the idea of having a party and getting fun stuff. I think because we all know how top notch Disney is that is why we are so disappointed in our stuff.

We expected them to hold up there standards for there parties but they did not. So there for we are sad. That makes it harder for us to pump up our guests when we feel that way...taken advantage of...or at least that is how I feel.

I was going to do the lipstick party also but because i sell MaryKay products that would seem a little strange. I would like to do a chocolet one like when they did the hershey's chocolate party...

I checked on my package and it says, delivery on time for Monday January 28! UGH. I emailed the general email, but if I don't hear from anyone by tomorrow, I'll be calling. My party is scheduled for Friday night due to previous plans on Saturday...so things are really going to be stressed!

Nice! I really do not understand wny the DCL package doesn't include enough to make 10 bags with nice goodies. I mean -- it didn't have to be 10 plush ear bandanas, 'cause they are expensive, but 10 of SOMETHING besides the marketing stuff.

I'm still really glad to do this, but some of it does not make sense.

Just a note: There is a return address on the package for what appears to be an outside company and not Disney themselves. It says Ken Lombardi-(407) 855-9277-action mail services inc. -1904 premier Row-Orlando -Fl.-32809. This is just my opinion here but I kinda feel this package is totally lacking a cruise theme to it. Yes, there are napkins and posters, the litho and the DVD but the rest of the stuff, the pirate stuff, the Peter Pan stuff and the Mickeys for the Dreams, they all seem to me (again my opinion) like someone cleaned out a warehouse of left over stuff and took all things that kinda fit a pirates or a cruise theme and threw them in a box for us. We have all been on the ships, we have seen the merchandise available, this is not it. How about more trademark cruise stuff like the Castaway gifts, stuff with logos on it, real cruise merchandise. I am just not feeling the love here. Also, I don't know about anyone else but one of my gift bags was actually packed inside the package with the eye patches, the cd and 12 napkins. Then there was another pile of napkins in the box. I would guess these were added after the complaints from everyone here were sent in.

I agree...and the napkins were all dogearred since they weren't packaged. they could have put 10 bags, 10 key chains, 10 magnets, stuff that will be VISIBLE to the people.....

well ours came today...........i guess its okay.......got 4 mickey pirate ears....the tink photo album ( although i wish it was mickey ) we have two boys and no little girls coming to the party also got the minnie plush??...i wonder how the decided who got what........does it strike any one else that the peter pan stuff has the release date of the new dvd?? is it a cruise party or a PARTY FOR PETER PAN???.....now i have booked a cruise for 10/18 but not paid a deposit on it yet....so i wonder if that is not considered booked yet???

I noticed that the masks all had movie advertisements, as did the tattoos and coloring pages. I just can't see giving out those masks as prizes as it says to do on the welcome letter. At most I can see the kids at the party acting out the characters for 5 minutes before they rip. They are like the quality of the free Burger King crowns.

I agree with everyone on being extremely disappointed with Disney. I don't even want to count the money I've put into this party (so I'm not), and I do agree they could have at least made the SBC more user friendly. I doubt there will be hardly anyone actually use it, because you can get a bigger credit going with other travel agency credits.

I have the Disney thing going on for my party, but its just not all about them. I made my party an all girl Disney / Tropical party and have invited several of my friends from High School and later. I don't know about the rest of you but I haven't had a party for just me and my friends in 15 years. So yay for me, I can't wait.

I love Disney Cruise Lines and I recommend them to everyone. Do I think they are as good as they were in the beginning? No, but its still magical everytime we go.

I hope everyone has a great party and don't be to disappointed, we get to spend some time with friends.

Oh, and I do hope I actually get my box before my party on Saturday.

I agree with everyone here.
I am very disappointed in Disney.
I didn't get into this for the "stuff" but I did it because I love to party and Love DCL, but I am embarrassed to give some of this stuff out.
I strongly feel that since they gave the OBC, let us use it. Gosh, it's only $50, I'm sure we all spend a heck of alot more than that. What is $50 worth of drinks to them, a couple of shots and a little juice or soda for a mixer??

I doubt there will be hardly anyone actually use it, because you can get a bigger credit going with other travel agency credits.

I don't see why you can't combine it wth an agency credit, you just most likely can't combine it with a rebook on board. Agency credits come from the agency not Disney, so usually they go together. I am waiting for an answer from Disney if it can be combined with a rebook on board or the Disney Visa promo combo.

Okay, I couldn't find the thread about the house parties, so I thought I would post a new one. We received our box today with all the goodies for the DCL House Party this weekend!

All I can say is that Disney did a GREAT job of providing materials for the party! It made DW and I even more excited about hosting the party this weekend!
