Christi, I would love to take Laurel to the American girl store--but sadly she wants to go to the Jonathan Rand bookstore in Mackinaw city, called Chiller Mania--so my hope for a fun filled weekend in Chicago has been side tracked to Mackinaw--not that bad of a switch though.

We'll be headed to PJ Hoffmaster(sp?) in late June/early July to camp--oh I hope the bugs aren't bad like last year though--by August you guys will have a warm Lake MI, in June--it's still pretty chilly.

Regarding excursions--I can't wait either--I've never planned a DC before, I keep reading about all the ports and adventures--and not getting anything else done around the house :surfweb: LOL!!! Don't tell Rick!

Enjoy the hot weather! 86 today in MI!

Our memorial day plans are falling through, too. Erik spoke with my mom last night. The ticks are really bad right now due to all the rain. They gross me out.

As we watched A-10's fly over during our local parade, I gave a silent thanks for those who are in or have been in our Armed Forces. If this happens to be you or a loved one, please send my thanks to them on this memorial day.

Sorry I've been MIA here for a while, but work has had me so busy (guess that's a good thing). Anyway, I was just looking at my ressie for this cruise and noticed that it changed from GTY to #7130, but that's not the only change. The price went up $23.79 for the taxes.:confused3 Has anyone else's ressie for this cruise done that? I have to wait until I get home to call DCL, but I wanted to check here first in case anyone knows why the taxes went up.

Thanks!

Reneé

ETA - I called DCL and was told the government taxes went up for our cruise.

Haven't looked into it but, I'm guessing it has to do with the implementation of the HST tax on July 1 in British Columbia. They are combining our Federal and Provincial tax into one tax and things that were not previously Provincial taxable, now are. Hence, the taxes go up on the cruise.

Robyn-
Did you get hit by the storms last night? I saw on the news that the storms were hitting Saline. We did get thunder, lightening and heavy rain. But, our tornado sirens never went off.

We saw on the news that a tornado hit Splash universe in Dundee.
Monroe county declared a state of emergency due to the storm damaging FERMI nuclear plant.

Chris-
very heavy winds 80mph and a tornado spotted in Taylor.

To all of you who don't live in MI. We had some terrible storms last night. We had tornado and storm warnings from 10pm to 3am.

Welcome. I'm Nancy, my DH is Dan, we live in Maine. I haven't been too active on this board yet - 2011 seems so far off right now! We also have a Western DCL booked in October - probably after that Alaska will seem more real!

Hi! We are Leisha and Tom traveling with parents and grown kids. This is going to be a great cruise!!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I sure hope we plan a dis meet so we can put faces with all the names.

I'm glad to see there will be some boys around my sons age. I'm hoping he'll make some friends before we go. The last cruise we were on was on HAL and he didn't like the kids club and was kinda bored during the day. He still loved cruising and had a good time but I know it could have been better for him.

We have been on an Alaska cruise before, different port (Seattle) and a little different itinerary but we have been to Ketchikan and Juneau before so if anyone has any questions about those ports I'll try to answer them as best as possible.

Besides our first DCL cruise next year, we are also going to Disney World this August for the first time. I can't WAIT!!!!!!!!:yay::banana:

We've been to Disneyland lots of times but Disney World is a whole other monster, it's so big and overwhelming.

Yippee! School is finished until Sept.7.

I am so jealous of all of you sailing on The Magic this summer.

Just a few more months and I will be able to start booking airfare/ hotel.

Wow! Our schools don't get out until June 24 so we still have 2 more weeks.

I can't wait to start looking at airfare and hotel info. I'm also thinking of flying into Seattle and taking the train up to Vancouver for something different. The last time I looked, it was about $200 R/T for the three of us, which isn't bad.

We've still got 13 more days of school here. Not that I'm counting or anything. You are talking about booking airfare/hotel for next year - I haven't even got it for our fall cruise yet. Will get dates settled for that in the next few days. However, Disneyland here we come in a month and a bit. Mum and kids trip.

I had thought about that too! I thought it would be fun to ride the train.

Hmm, maybe we can see if we can plan a group thing for the train. That would be fun! Depending on when people are arriving in Seattle. I'm thinking of getting there the Saturday before the cruise. Just have to decide where I want to spend time before and after the cruise.
