DCL Disney Magic At Sea UK Residents Only Sailing Summer 2021 General Information

I have done 3 and 4 night cruises with Disney before, but never a 2. I assume they still use the 3 main dining rooms so what really puts me off is a 33% chance of missing out on animators palette. I have only experienced this once on the magic, but it's much better here than the dream or fantasy. As a gold cc member do you think it is possible to request when booking that the dining rotation includes this? Otherwise I'll have to ensure a 3 or 4 nighter.

On two night cruises they may assign you to the same dining room both nights. That was our case on our 2 night back in 2012. You can request a certain rotation but it is just a request. They will never guarantee it.

Our 2 night felt very rushed. We just had a carry on so didn't even unpack really. It just goes buy so fast.

We are booked on that cruise too. Hoping for a little magic to happen and allow cruises out of the U.S. by then (pun intended) :tink:

We are on the October 24th cruise out of NYC. Fingers crossed. If we can't go to Canada maybe they will go South.

Just a curious American question...when are your school holidays? Do they differ from France, Italy, Spain, or the rest of EU?

I'm rooting for you all! I really hope this works and you can get on a cruise. Looking for the light at the end of the tunnel!

I'm in Oregon and last day of school for K-12 this year is June 11th; first day back will be September 1st. We have a looooong summer break!

Are these staycation cruises going ahead? They trimmed down the schedule. Pushed back the booking date. I think there going to announce all adult guests will have to be vaccinated. The lateral flow tests, are not that accurate. Plus, most of the crew aren’t on the ship. There back home in Asia and Eastern Europe. It would be a PR disaster, if they had an outbreak on board. Especially, if there wanting to promote there product in the UK.

Yes there has now been another update and the schedule of the four departure ports is now back on again. I think there have been some date changes to starting later and ending later but they are definitely on.
Early booking dates for different groups begin on the 28th and general booking is 30th.

In case someone did not already say so in here (they may have but I am too lazy to check all 30 pages of the forum), I called and got confirmation that the UK resident rule means that a copy of your mortgage or tenancy agreement is sufficient to get you on! Very important for ex-Pats who live here and do not have a passport :D

Thank you for this I will add it to the first post :)

Yes these cruises ARE going ahead. All the information about sail dates and when to book is in the first post of this thread.

Also your opinion on the efficiency of Lateral Flow Tests is irrelevant. DCL have specified that all passengers will be required to take one at the port before being allowed on the ship. People are stressed out enough , please don't add to the confusion.

Your opinion on the location of the crew is also irrelevant. These cruises ARE going ahead and DCL have already started recalling crew.

I think you should book a 3 night... Or maybe a 4 night and perhaps a back to back... Just to be sure ☺
Seriously, do we think back to back will be possible? With the whole needing a PCR test thing it's going to be difficult to time one that is not too early for the second cruise and not too late so if it comes back inconclusive there's time for a repeat!
Unfortunately the four night dates are not possible for me.

Do we know PCR tests are required yet?

Please check the first post of this thread for official information from Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Cruise have information about the type of tests required in the arrival information section of each of the 4 ports. Disney Cruise ARE NOT REQUIRING PCR TESTS.

COVID-19 Testing
When you arrive at the terminal you will need to complete a Lateral Flow Rapid COVID-19 test. Once you and your party have tested negative, you will be able to embark. The test will be conducted before entering the terminal.

Have you seen the banned list on countries. DCL have a logistical nightmare in recalling crew. As most of the crew come from these countries.

Please, can we not add to the confusion and stress for UK Dis board members who are planning to book a cruise. As of this moment, these cruises ARE GOING AHEAD and crew are being recalled. DCL are not the only cruise line doing UK residents sailings this summer, so obviously ALL the cruise lines will be able to crew their ships. Trying to prove a point as to why you think DCL should not or will not sail is not helping anyone here.

I wonder will there be a Pirate night?

Part of my love for DCL is the clientele - my fear for these staycations would be a Butlins-on-sea. I don't mean any disrespect by this. Americans' fun nature add to the vibe of the cruise. With the British reservedness and the Ibiza/ Majorca type behaviour, I do have some minor concerns and I hope DCL can keep these cruises as close to the normal DCL cruises as possible.

Very much doubt there will be a Pirate Night. Before Covid, only the Mediterranean cruises had a Pirate Night. For the Northern Europe / British Isles / Cruises out of Dover it was Frozen Night, with a Frozen Deck Party.

I know we are waiting for more information, but it is my guess that as these cruises are so short, they wont do a theme night.

My DD and I are going to book one of these for the 2 of us, as long as we can secure dates that work with our work schedules, the first dates they put out would have been better with my annual leave from work, but we should be able to work with the later dates, plus I'm happy to drive to at least 2 of the ports, if not all of them.

After not seeing her for many months and having not been out to WDW since last March, I'm very excited to do this, fingers crossed for the right price and availability - we're DVC members so can book on the 29th, but I'm at work all day of course!

My fear too. Our only Royal Caribbean cruise was a Norway cruise from Southampton (1 month after being on the Fantasy) and the way it was geared very much to British people wasn’t to our taste

Then again we have done a Disney Norway cruise which was much better. So who knows

MY OPINION
For now in the UK we do not require PCR test to check in to a Hotel. We won`t be required PCR test to go to the movies, theatre, restaurants (unless they go ahead with the immunity passports). Requiring negative PCR test for a domestic cruise would be double standard.
I do understand that it might feel more safe for someone If everyone had a negative PCR test before boarding. BUT!
Half of the UK is virtually Covid Free, Vaccination goes ahead amazingly.

Yes, there will be always a chance to get infected it will never be zero Covid but on 2-3-4 night cruise won`t be enough time to get seriously ill (most likely).

There is a slight chance to get infected anywhere basically....

I fear this short cruises will be already expensive and I really don`t want to pay extra £120/person for a PCR test.

I am OK with the LFT only and I do hope this will stay the requirement.

One thing which might help to deter the booze cruisers is that on DCL they don't have an alcohol package. All alcohol is pay as you go / added to your room account. And there is no casino.

You can bring alcohol onboard but only beer and wine. You can bring a maximum of 6 bottle of beer which can be no larger than 12 USA ounces, which basically means for UK people, only 6 of the 330ml bottles of Heineken / Budweiser / Carlsburg per person OR you can bring only 2 bottle of wine which can be no larger than 750ml.

You can not bring what Americans call hard liquor , what UK and Irish people call spirts onboard, ie you cant bring Bacardi or Vodka onboard.

We did a number of Royal Caribbean cruises in Europe (actually we did a lot :) )
but we decided never ever do a European Cruise again during UK school holiday. Our biggest problem were the teenagers on board though not the little kids I don`t know how many teenagers would be on a Disney Cruise ...

On the other hand I know of 5-6 years old British kids who were kicked off during cruise because of unacceptable behaviour from a Mediterranean Royal Caribbean cruise.

But! I arrived to the point that I do not care about any of this I just want some Disney Magic in my life. Not being able to go to Disneyworld over a year now makes me really sad :( (and crazy ... just ask my husband)

5-6 year olds kicked off. My goodness, what did they do?!?

When in Florida, I cringe when I hear a similar accent to my own. But does the desire of a DCL cruise this summer outweigh this....
