DCL Disney Magic At Sea UK Residents Only Sailing Summer 2021 General Information

I have been following along with this thread ,.thank you to everyone for all your useful tips and information it is invaluable :)

Does anyone know if there may be a minimum age requirement on the lateral flow tests prior to boarding? I have looked through the links and can't seem to find this info. We have a 3 year old and will not want her to have to do this.

One thing which might help to deter the booze cruisers is that on DCL they don't have an alcohol package. All alcohol is pay as you go / added to your room account. And there is no casino.

You can bring alcohol onboard but only beer and wine. You can bring a maximum of 6 bottle of beer which can be no larger than 12 USA ounces, which basically means for UK people, only 6 of the 330ml bottles of Heineken / Budweiser / Carlsburg per person OR you can bring only 2 bottle of wine which can be no larger than 750ml.

You can not bring what Americans call hard liquor , what UK and Irish people call spirts onboard, ie you cant bring Bacardi or Vodka onboard.

In my experience of cruising on Disney and others, the lack of drinks package doesn’t deter people.
I do love disneys option of bringing wine on board, one year in the med we got a local bottle in each port so we could enjoy a glass in the room before dinner (any alcohol taken on board cannot be consumed outside of your state room).

Thats in pre Covid times, when the passengers have been a mix of all nationalities when there has been a minority of first time cruisers. These summer 2021 cruises will have a very different mix of passengers onboard, the majority will be first time cruisers and I can totally understand the worry of them turning into booze cruises. Any experiences of previous DCL cruises right now are void, as these cruises are a totally new experience, with a very different type of passengers than before Covid. Worry about the high level of alcohol consumption is a valid fear as UK people have a very different attitude to drinking and alcohol than American people.

The lack of a drinks package would certainly deter UK first time cruisers who are used to drinks packages on other cruise lines and on cheap package holidays to Spain and The Canary Islands. The availability of cheap alcohol will certainly be a deciding factor for people when they choosing which UK staycation cruise to choose this summer.

I doubt there will be an age limit. Disney Cruise Line website says all passengers, so to me that would mean your 3 year old would have to take the test. I would ring Disney Cruise Line and ask them directly.

How is experience void? I am sharing my knowledge of previous cruises, not stating that it is applicable to this cruise. People have voice concerns over drinking and I am simply joining the conversation by stating what I have experienced.

In case someone did not already say so in here (they may have but I am too lazy to check all 30 pages of the forum), I called and got confirmation that the UK resident rule means that a copy of your mortgage or tenancy agreement is sufficient to get you on! Very important for ex-Pats who live here and do not have a passport :D

Oh dear, I moved to the UK back in 2018, but everything is in my boyfriends name (shared house, so it's just a whole mess for my proof of address). He can't book/call as he'll be at work, but I can. I do have bank account, NHS number, NI number, phone bill, storage bill, pay slips, hope that would be enough. Unless I can book and put on my boyfriends name (UK born and bred) but with all that data protection stuff...

Surely they will have other options as there may be people living with parents / partners and therefore not on mortgages or tenancy agreements. Hopefully they will find out a way around for you.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Assuming you are booking to go with your boyfriend! :-) You just give both names at the point of booking. I doubt they will be expecting you to send proof over the phone when you first book, I'm sure it will all be sorted out later!

5-6 year olds kicked off. My goodness, what did they do?!?

When in Florida, I cringe when I hear a similar accent to my own. But does the desire of a DCL cruise this summer outweigh this....

The kid was hitting another kid in the Adventure Ocean Club and there is a zero tolerance policy towards physical abuse - which I completely agree with.

I cringe too when I hear a similar accent to my own :)

I`m pretty sure you are good to go :) any chance you have UK driving licence?

If you don`t have already just go ahead and register a Disney Account (any Disney account/ My Disney Experience or even ShopDisney UK) you have to fill your address.
I`m positive If someone registered address is in the UK that will be enough. At the time of booking that`s the only thing they can check!!!

Asking for mortgage/rental agreement seems stupid what If someone owes their house and already paid off the mortgage. I`m using my Disney account since forever to book numerous WDW/DLP/DCL holidays with the same registered UK address. They already sent me tons of pre holiday packages... they know for sure I`m UK resident.

Yep. when I logged into my castaway club account for the first time in years, it automatically changed my old sign in details to the same ones I use with Disney Plus. All their accounts are related it seems

Does anyone know yet what time you are due to get off the ship for these cruises ? Many thanks.

Before Covid, they would start allowing people off the ship around 7am and everyone had to be off the ship by 9am.

Please double check that as I spoke to them at length, not the DCL reservation line but the UK social media team, on Friday night and it quite specifically says that you do not need a passport but you do need a government issued photo ID.

I did post screenshots of everything I went through with them a few pages ago.

OK, so I can't book then? I don't drive at all, so no licence. My boyfriend has a motorbike licence.
