DCL Disney Magic At Sea UK Residents Only Sailing Summer 2021 General Information

So, I have just called the DCL line. OMG, I am so pumped right now just because of the phone call, haha (nothing to do with the info I got).
The CM was just SO nice, and it was like I was talking to an old friend and having a catch up with them about Disney, haha!

I explained my situation, that I've only been in the UK for 2,5 years and if he knows of any info about what to need to proof that I do live here.
I explained what has been going around online about needing specific documentation, and he said they should never go into so much dept for those specific documents, and he asked me if I have a drivers licence (I don't drive at all), and then if I have a bank account here.
Which I do, and even my back account from home is updated since I moved to the UK with my UK address (why else would I do that?).
So he kept saying I'm fine, BUT, it was better if I called back next week again before the first group can book, to see if anything had changed and ask again, just to be sure.

So, overall, I still don't really know anything official, but I must say, the guy really just made my day with how super nice he was and taking his time to hear me out and such. Kudos!

That is such a typical call to DCL. So glad they are continuing their style of customer interaction. It’s what I expect will happen on booking days.

Yeah!

Noticed on the magic at sea Instagram that they discussed all stateroom categories - couldn’t find the post on this thread that suggested they may just offer verandah rooms to help with limiting capacity but certainly sounds like that won’t be the case. This will be great for those who are cost conscious if there are some cheaper room options in the inside/oceanview categories

Thanks for this, which post did you see this so that I can find it and screen cap it here?

This might sound like an odd question but I don't want to risk anything causing an issue on booking day.

I've just checked that everything is OK with my Disney account and registered my Visa card ready for payment on the 30th but above the card details on the website there's this message....

This credit card cannot be used on the Disney Cruise Line website and app, but it can be used for select purchases when using Walt Disney World and Disneyland websites and apps.

Is anyone else seeing this? Can I still pay for my cruise using the visa card on the day? One year until expiry, plenty of funds so no spending limit.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve seen multiple people have this issue recently so presume it’s a system error.

ive never had the option of using my stored card when paying for an actual cruise booking though so don’t think it will have any effect on that for you, as far as I know you always need to enter payment details when booking

Nowhere has this been confirmed either way. Other cruiselines have limited capacity by not allowing inside rooms to be booked. Cunard even had pricings listed for Inside rooms and then when booking opened they were instantly sold our as they weren't selling them. There is no way really to know until everything goes on sale. Disney may be using some other way to limit capacity or just selecting which rooms can and can't be booked for example but no one will be sure I don't think until booking opens.

Please note that these responses are via the press/comms office and have been authorised for release.

1. Back to back sailings WILL be permitted but they are awaiting further info on the specifics (how many nights/testing etc)
2. DCL requires all guests aged 11 and over to wear an appropriate face covering. We are waiting on specifics for this like when can they be removed, are there exemptions?
3. DCL actively encourage guests to link their bookings but they cannot confirm the max number of guests per dining table yet
4. All categories of staterooms will be available, just reduced in numbers. The % capacity of the ship is not being released currently
5. DCL will not require guests to have travel insurance - please note, you are mad as a box of frogs if you do not get it though!
6. Confirmation that the alcohol policy remains in place, but the age limit for bringing it on board is now 18 and not 21. Guests aged 18 years or over are permitted to CARRY on (not in main luggage) up to 2 bottles of wine/champagne (up to 750ml per bottle) OR up to 6 cans/bottles of beer (up to 12oz per can/bottle). This alcohol is for drinking in your room only. Any excess found will be destroyed at the port, not held and returned as normal - Please don't be that person, alcohol does not cost that much onboard!
7. The ship will sail in UK or International Waters at all times
8. Guests age 18 years or over will be required to show valid Government issued ID before embarkation. No ID for 17 yrs and younger

This seem odd to me that masks are just for 11 and older. Kids can transmit just as easily as adults and they (presumably) will be in close contact in the clubs. What are the requirements in the UK for mask wearing? (This is not a post to debate if masks work, just a question about what the UK is currently requiring.)

We require them anywhere inside - shops, public transport, restaurant, shopping centres etc but guess this rule is going with the fact under 11’s don’t require them in any of the mentioned places here, personally I’ve never understood why they’re exempt here as like you say, kids can still transmit it

As these cruises are for UK residents only and are from ports in England, they are going by UK guidelines for mask wearing.

yes, that’s what i stated that they are going by our rules here

I wonder, hypothetically, if the UK's rules on face coverings/ distancing was relaxed before July, would Disney follow suit and relax for these cruises. If, and it is an if, Nightclubs, wet bars, theatres etc are to open in late June, according to the UK Government's road map, then you would think this may be the case.

That explains the unmasked kid (over age 2, the must-mask age here in US) in the photo on the UK Staycation promo.

I doubt it. In Florida, the state rules are very relaxed and no mask mandates, but Disney have maintained the strict rules and mask rules in Walt Disney World.

I also wonder if this will be the case. It makes sense that it would follow the roadmap. However the face mask requirement isn’t discussed at all through the plan specifically, and I personally think that they will be around at least until all adults have received their first dose of vaccination which is likely to be July/august, if not longer.

If anyone is looking for a way to experience a Disney cruise, but wants to watch their budget - check out sideways (layout) inside cabins. They are the lowest priced cabins. The bathroom is a single room contains the sink, toilet and shower instead of the usual split layout. We pick them due to location (Decks 5 and 6, forward) but mainly for the extra clear floor space (not sq footage, though).

It may be that the Deck 5 cabins can sleep 4, but Deck 6 lay have bedding for 3 (no pull-down upper berth)

Category (Cat) 11B - Standard Interior Stateroom
