DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

Are there any prohibitions on carrying glass bottles of non-alcoholic drinks? Like if I bring glass bottles of iced tea or something?

For the record they have no problem giving a 50 drink credit when I used my disney visa.......soda coffee are free so what do I use the drink card for I wonder
Any beverages you purchase - sodas from room service or in the bars/lounges (also the poolside servers). Specialty coffees and teas. Alcoholic drinks.

The only beverage limitation (effective 9/30/15) is the "only 2 bottles of wine/champage or 6 beers per adult 21 and over" Beyond that, you can bring whatever (non-alcoholic) beverages onboard that you wish. You can't have drinks in glass bottles in the pool areas, however.

Whilst I agree with no glass in pool areas based on common sense, why do dcl allow you to bring or exchange a token for a glass beer mug and refill it at signals by the pool? Surely most people at the pool are barefoot and that glass could be chipped or broken on the marble bar top?
Can you get served a coffee in cove cafe in a china cup and take it to the outside seating area with heavy footfall and pax mostly barefoot?
Are the plates for snack at cove cafe plastic or china?
Even if the cove cafe plates and cups and mugs are plastic, the beer mug program shows inconsistency with a hard and fast set policy. And it would be irresponsible for dcl to expect someone to consume the whole beer mug whilst sitting at the bar without that pax wishing to take there beverage and or glass else where.

Playing the "for the children" card?? Too far Disney, too far.

I am considering a new form of protest. A few empty liquor bottles in each suitcase my family checks. See how fast they get their obnoxious searches done if that catches on.

Well if they find the bottles they will.call you to the naughty room to open the suitcase. They do not deliver the suit case to you until you come to open it

So for my family which includes two adults and two kids, this means we can take 4 bottles of wine/champagne and 12 beers on board with us and we can replenish our "stock" at each port. So by the end of our 5 day cruise w/ 3 ports of call we can potentially accumulate 16 bottles of wine/champagne and 48 beers for two people to consume in 5 days. With our kids. If that's not enough then there are much bigger problems to worry about. That said, the corking fee is excessive, which means it's most likely a deterrent. And there should be some allotment for liquor. But I do understand it being excluded because it is easier to abuse liquor. I know some will disagree, but it takes much less liquor to become intoxicated than beer or even wine.

This is not enough to make me consider another cruise line. I love DCL. I can't imagine taking my family on any other cruise line. Especially after hearing stories of partying college kids in staterooms next door and drunk people falling out of casinos. I do draw the line at casinos though. If Disney adds casinos to their ships, I'm done. Nothing against casinos or gambling in general, but at that point it stops being a family friendly cruise that's a safe and wholesome environment and becomes a more expensive version of every other cruise line out there.

Actually, with 2 adults, it's 2 bottles of wine OR champagne OR 6 beers each at each port. So, with 3 ports of call the maximum you could have had in your room by the end of the cruise would be 16 bottles of wine OR champagne OR 48 beers (12 oz, either bottles or cans). Or some combination thereof.

You're right. Still, 16 bottles of wine/champagne OR 48 beers for two people over 5 nights seems like plenty for us considering you can still purchase alcohol on board. Who wants to sit in their room and drink all day anyway?! Not me! But ya know, maybe I'm doin' it wrong!o_O :D

You obviously jumped in at the end of the conversation without reading the thread, so I will again ask the quesitons that have been asked MANY, MANY TIMES that you skipped over...... What about people like me who do not drink beer, wine or champaign? Why am I not allowed to carry on something I do drink? What about a PC cruise or a TA cruise? 14 days and not very many ports. How is the new policy "fair" to them? What about the wine drinkers that don't like the selections on board or in ports?

Again, the "ME" mentality has kicked in- because you don't see an issue with it, it is perfectly fine that it affects everyone else.

I could only suggest that you find a cruise line that will allow you to bring onboard whatever beverages you wish. I feel that you won't find many. Yes, DCL used to allow it. They've changed their minds. Most likely a business decision (for whatever reasons).

I wasn't asking for me... I was pointing out all the scenarios that the poster I quoted had missed because they were riding the "ME" train.

Sorry, I interpreted the following:

as your questions. It would have been clearer that you were posing questions asked by others if you had used quotes around them.

This may be a silly question, but don't remember seeing it asked before. Can you buy canned soda in port and bring it onto the ship? I know I can get it at the soda stations, but sometimes I want a cold one out of the fridge without having to get dressed to go get one.

Yes you can, but you do need to carry it on
