Does anyone know if you need to use a day of your park pass to participate in the DCA power walk? I was planning on doing this and then saw it highlighted the other day on the Disney blog. I'd like to do this on my non-park day if possible, otherwise I need to change some dining plans around. Thanks!

No, you don't need to use your park entrance ticket to do the DCA power walk. You do need to sign a waiver of liability and show up at the entrance to DCA (from GCH) at the appointed time (you sign the waiver right then and there and be sure to put your room #).

I walked in April 2012 so I don't think it's changed since then...

Awesome, thanks!

Does anyone know how far in advance you need to sign up? Do they turn people away?

I think you can show up the day of.

I did the power walk twice. Once with the gal (she walked slower than the guy; that or I was just more up & peppy when I walked with the gal). With the guy, I kept on being left behind in my power walks and the group had to wait for me. Once a truck was backing up so I waited until the truck finished backing up (no way was I going to walk behind a backing up truck).

I signed up for the power walk with the gal via the phone (just called the phone # that Disney said to call). I impulsively decided to sign up for a power walk the second time so just showed up.

I don't think they take attendance or anything.

Also, anyone under 12 (?) cannot do the power walk (the age requirement is the same to use the fitness facilities). BTW, anyone from 13 - 17 that signed the waiver - that's not valid (kids cannot waive anything; their parents would have to do that, but that's a different story).

For those interested, I would suggest doing this soon. If DCA starts opening at 7am every morning for select guests starting June 15, its probable that the Power Walk will not be offered anymore. -- Suzanne

I do this walk every time we stay at GC--it's one of my favorite things!

-No ticket needed to get into the park.
-Minimum age is 14, with a parent.
-Can sign up as late as the night before, as long as there is space. (I've never seen them run out of space.)
-Can also just show up the day of, but be aware that if no one has signed up it will be cancelled and no CM will show up to lead the walk.
-Be on time--they leave on time and lock the gate so there is no catching up if you are late.

I didn't even think of this. So sad! :sad1:

This could be true...but the Disney Parks blog recently just highlighted the DCA Power Walk. So maybe they have some sort of plan in place for it to continue in a couple months when Cars Land is open.

I hope they are able to keep the power walk when they start opening early. I really enjoyed doing it.
