Hi, this might seem like a silly question, but what areas can I swim at DC where there are no fish to startle me? I'm a person that screams if swimming in a lake and a fish swims by :upsidedow Thanks!!

You will want to avoid the Grand Reef, then, and the dolphin pool (assuming you class them as fish).

The Windaway River (with the large beach and cave at the entrance) and the Freshwater Oasis will be your areas of choice.

Thank you! Yea, I'm not doing the dolphin swim, my dd is, she's been wanting to do it for years and is so excited :goodvibes

I have to say that I'm one of those people that gets creeped out by fish swimming by me when I'm at the beach or lake...plus the uncertainty of not knowing IF one is going to show up and what kind :lmao:.

The exception was a time that we went snorkeling at a local aquarium. I absolutely loved it! I joked that I felt like the plastic diver in a fish tank but honestly what made me OK with it was that there was no unknown. I knew what was going to be in the tank with me and I was totally OK with it.

So I don't know if your aversion to fish is similar to mine but see how you feel. You might end up wanting to give the Grand Reef a try (and being OK with it). Have a great time regardless.
