Holy cow! I can't believe they are shutting down for 29 hours with only a few hours notice. Pretty scary that the incident yesterday was the same as the one that killed someone a while back. I hope they find and correct any problems. The rail system needs a major update/overhaul. I hope this prompts some changes and improvements.

Watching it on the news now. Sounds like it's a good idea but I can't even imagine what traffic will be like tomorrow! I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere!

I know that where I work, if you take Metro (and get the subsidy) you don't get a parking pass. If the Metro riders try to drive in, they won't be permitted to park. I think a lot of places are like this. People take Metro because they have no place to park. I think people will just stay home. Of course, the media is in the process of inciting panic!

Waiting on OPM to make a decision.

They came out with unscheduled leave and unscheduled telework but didn't announce it until after 6pm. Of course that came out after people left for the day, so don't know how many took laptops home.

At least Metro announced the shutdown plans just before 4PM and our organization posted it to everyone. If you were still at work at 4PM, then common sense would have told you to take your stuff home. The problem where I work is that over half of the 5,000 people there probably leave by 3:30 and had no idea. I know that I didn't know before I left.

My husband hadn't heard a thing about it at 5pm, so apparently his dept wasn't as on the ball lol. He was able to grab his laptop before he left but it was because I called him and let him know so he could bring it home just in case.....

My husband is still at work. He will be teleworking tomorrow. DD had plans in the district tomorrow night, but looks like that won't happen either.

I wonder how many problems they will uncover. I think tomorrow is just the beginning of a few months of headaches. Single tracking during rush hour sucks!

Christine, I was down near the navy yard today. Man are they doing a lot of construction.

Yes, it's just booming there--which makes me pretty happy.

You probably saw where they are building some underground train tunnel which runs past all the exits on/off the freeway.
